INTRODUCTION
The UBI EasyCoder 501 Ticketing is a rugged
directthermalprinterintendedforadvancedticketing
applications.
TheEasyCoder501Ticketing canbecontrolledby
a host computer using standard or custom-made
applicationsoftware,e.g.theUBILabelShoplabel-

program to be installed in the computer, and – in
case of Windows – an optional parallel interface
board to be fitted in the printer.
As standard, theEasyCoder 501 Ticketing is fitted
with a scalable fonts kit that allows the use of

IMPORTANT PRINTHEAD AND RIBBON INFORMATION
The use of any thermal transfer ribbons, other than those supplied by UBI, will invalidate
the printhead warranty. UBI thermal transfer ribbons are engineered specifically for this printhead.
The quality of thermal and thermal transfer media supplies in this printer is also of great importance
for the quality of printing bar codes and a long life of the printhead. UBI has carefully matched the
paper we recommend/provide to the needs of this printer. We therefore strongly advise of using
only UBI recommended/provided supplies to ensure a high quality printing.

Cleaning on a regular basis is important for life of the printer
and for the printout quality.
1Turn the printhead lift knob to “Load” position and remove
the paper web.
2Insert a Printhead Cleaning Card into the print mechanism,
allowing 2–3 cm (1") to extend in front of the printhead.
3Turn the knob clockwise to “Print”position and slowly pull
out the cleaning card. Allow the Cleaning Card to dry for a
few seconds and repeat the procedure.
4Using a piece of cloth or blotting paper slightly moistened
with isopropanol, clean the print roller and the tear-off edge.
5Important!
Allow a couple of minutes for the cleaned parts to get dry
before loading the paper.
Wipe the outside surfaces using a damp piece of cloth. If
necessary, add a mild detergent. Be careful not to allow any
water to penetrate into the interior of the printer.
Protect paper from dust by always keeping the stock compart-
ment door closed. In case of an external paper supply, it is
strongly recommended that both the actual supply and the web
pathbeprotectedbysomekindofdustcover.Dirt,sand,gritetc.
may rapidly cause irreparable damage to the printhead.
