1 Assembling the Drain Valve
You will find the drain valve in a yellow envelope attached to the pallet (see fig. 1).

You will note on the water-tank wall the threaded connector to which the drain valve will
be attached; the screw thread is coated by a teflon ribbon, to guarantee water tightness
(see note
1

Assemble the drain valve onto the flange (see figures 2 – 3 - 4): it is sufficient to screw
the valve manually on the flange, no tool is required, as no particular torque is necessary.

During the valve assembly, the related flange should be blocked by a suit-
able wrench. Failing to do so may cause the flange to move from its original
position, and loose water-tightness.
Please make sure the job is carried out by a skilled person
Same precaution to be taken if the valve needs to be unscrewed from its
flange.

2 Other Connectors
On the water tank perimetral wall you will notice two other connectors, with stoppers (see
figure 5). These extra connectors are provided for use with heating/circulation systems.
Do not unscrew the stoppers, to avoid water leakage.

Finally, 4 connectors of smaller diameter (see figure 6) are attached to the 4 quadrants of
the water tank: these connectors are necessary for the opertion of Ugo Basile Atlantis
System, a set of 1 or more (up to 4) platforms whose upward and downward movement
can be controlled from outside the tank either manually or automatically. Ask for details!
Also in this case, avoid removing the red stoppers, to avoid water leakage.

3 Important Notes on Water
The quality of water to fill the water tanks is of outmost importance, not only for the health
and safety of the animals, but also for maintaining the water tank in good conditions. It is
even more important when a heating/circulating system is attached to the water tank.
The use of drinkable water is mandatory, and we strongly suggest that water
is processed by a filtering system to remove mud, calcar, etc. In particular, to
avoid calcareic deposits, a water softener is highly recommended.
Calcar leaves deposits on the tank wall which will probably have no direct effect on the
test, but might impair the tank surface, that dark color are more liable to get impaired by
calcar and other deposits in the water.
For cleaning purpose, use a descaling kit, or vinegar.
