Welcome to TimeBase
Thank you for purchasing TimeBase. TimeBase has been specifically
designed to work with the UKG Pro time and attendance systems. This
installation guide provides the steps for installing the custom-designed
Mounting Box, which offers several benefits: housing for cables, a battery
backup device, a PoE splitter, and the ability to mount a badge reader.
This document does not address the method to connect your TimeBase clock
to your Time System or the UKG Pro Time Collection (UTC) Host,
nor the operation of the TimeBase. For those instructions, please see the
documents referenced below.
PURPOSE OF THIS GUIDE
This guide describes how to install the TimeBase mounting box and mount the
TimeBase clock.
WHO SHOULD USE THIS GUIDE
This guide is written for facilities personnel and IT staff who install hardware
on-premises and set up network devices.

Steps for Installing the TimeBase Mounting Box
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Step 1. Ensure that you have the following items from the original TimeBase
kit:
• An orange T10 screwdriver
• A pair of black T10 screws (only one is needed)
• A wall mounting plate
• A wall mounting reference guide
• A set of drywall anchors and mounting screws
Step 2. If you are mounting a TimeBase device with no peripheral readers,
skip ahead to Step 11. If you are mounting a TimeBase with a barcode reader,
skip ahead to Step 8.
PERFORM THE PROXIMITY READER INSTALLATION
Step 3. Take the proximity reader and attach it to the
mounting bracket using the included screws and
screwdriver, as shown.
Step 4. Feed the USB cable through the pass-through
slot, as shown.
Step 5. Slide the
proximity reader and
its mounting bracket
onto the mounting box,
through the mounting
holes. Secure the
bracket using the two
wingnuts provided,
as shown.

Step 6. Connect
the female end of
the USB extender
to the male end
of the proximity
reader cable. Pass
the USB extender
through the opening
on the other side of
the mounting box,
as shown.
Step 10. Connect the female end of the USB extender
to the male end of the barcode cable. Pass the USB
extender through the opening on the other side of the
mounting box, as shown:
Step 7. At this point, you are ready to mount the device
to your wall location. Skip ahead to Step 11.
PERFORM THE BARCODE READER INSTALLATION
Step 8. For
barcode
readers, begin
by feeding the
USB cable
through the
pass-through,
slot as shown.
Step 9. Using the
provided miniature
screwdriver, mount the
barcode reader to the
mounting box using
the indicated holes
and M3.5 screws. Do
not overtighten
the screws securing
the reader.
SECURE THE MOUNTING BOX TO THE WALL
You are now ready to secure the mounting box to
your wall.
Please note the following:
• If you wish to connect a PROXIMITY badge reader,
this reader MUSTbe mounted before proceeding.
See Step 3.
• If you wish to connect a barcode reader, this reader
MUST be mounted before proceeding. See Step 8.
• If your device has a barcode reader or PROXIMITY
reader, you may wish to zip tie the USB cables
together inside the box for organization. Leave
some slack on the USB extender so that it may be
connected to the TimeBase.

Step 11. Place the
mounting reference
guide sticker onto the
wall where you wish to
install the TimeBase.
Install the four drywall
anchors using the
guide.
Step 14. Align
the mounting
plate with the
four holes on the
mounting box,
and install using
the four flathead
Phillips screws
provided.
Step 12. Align the
mounting box with
the anchors on the
wall, and secure
the mounting box to
the wall using the
provided screws.
Ensure power and
Ethernet cables are
not crushed between
the box and the wall
by routing them
through the provided cutout. If you have a peripheral
reader, ensure the USB extender is not crushed.
Step 13. Pass the
power and Ethernet
cables through the
cutout on the mounting
plate, as shown.
Step 16. Slide the
TimeBase clock down
onto the hooks of the
mounting plate, and then
flat onto the mounting
plate itself. You may
need to gently pull the
power and Ethernet
cables to take up slack.
Step 15. Connect the
power and Ethernet
cables to the back of the
TimeBase, as shown.

Step 17. Using the
T10 screwdriver and
T10 screw, secure
the TimeBase to the
mounting plate using
the hole below the
device.
Step 21. Secure the USB cover over the USB
extender, using the two (2) button head M3 scews, as
shown.
Step 18. If you have no peripheral readers mounted,
you are now done assembling the TimeBase mounting
box kit. If you have a peripheral reader, continue with the
following steps.
Step 19. Connect the
USB extender to the
USB port on the side
of the TimeBase, as
shown.
Step 20. Slide the USB
cover over the USB
cable, as shown.
