B. Pairing the Handset and Caller unit
This process is to securely match the caller unit with the handset so that they can communicate with each other
while no other unit (even your neighbour’s own UltraCOM) can interfere with your installation or receive your signal.!
The caller unit and handset are already paired with a factory preset code when they are shipped. !
However, if any interferences occur during your usage, please perform a new pairing. You must also do a full learn

We recommend using backup batteries for this procedure. However, if using a DC power supply, please down power
the caller station and power up holding the pairing button ⑧first.!
1. Place the caller unit and handset close to each other within a distance of 1 metre.!

NOTE: In case you have two or more handsets, always perform the pairing process with ALL caller units AND
handsets together and with ALL handsets being set in pairing mode first (flashing ).
IMPORTANT: Remember every time you add on new units to the system, either a handset or a caller unit (for

E. Installation of the caller station
The caller unit is housed in a high impact ABS/PC cabinet which can achieve professional grade ruggedness
required in most outdoor application. Rubber gaskets seals around all joints keep out dust, rain, snow and spray,
assuring years of reliable operation even in harsh environment. The unit meets to IP54 rating and can operate from
-20˚C to 50˚C (lithium batteries are recommended in extreme temperatures).!
IMPORTANT: The caller station should not be installed on metal screening surfaces nor at proximity of other
electronic/wireless devices that may reduce the operating range. An optional external aerial can be used in
these specific conditions.
1. Select a location near your door entrance where the surface is not too rough. We recommend do some polishing
to get a level surface or otherwise the unit may not be able to mount properly.!
2. Mark your wall based on the protection hood wall mount holes. Drill your wall according to the provided wall
plugs. Insert wall plugs in the drilled holes.!
3. Pass any necessary cables (power, gate wiring, optional external aerial, …) through your wall and through the
centre hole at the back of the protection hood.!
4. Mount your protection hood to your wall using provided screws.!
!
10

ENGLISH 1-17
DEUTSCH 35-51
FRANÇAIS 18-34
5. Open your caller station using the provided tool and pass your cables through the back plate via the plastic
grommet.!
CAREFUL: These six small screws are specific, do not lose them!
6. Screw the back plate to the protection hood (using 8 screws provided)!
11

ENGLISH 1-17
DEUTSCH 35-51
FRANÇAIS 18-34
7. Connect your cables according to your need!
The cable terminal ⑨is available for all your required wired connections.!
Please be careful during the process and gently screw the wires to the terminal block. There is no need to
force the screws, simply tighten enough for cables not to become loose.
✦Power supply (12-24VDC +/-)!
The caller station can run on batteries only. The observed battery life is 12 to 18 months.!
Additionally or alternatively, you can connect a 12-24VDC power supply. This power can be provided via any source
(optional adaptor, gate power, solar panel, …) as long as it is Direct Current (DC) and 12 or 24V.!
If you use both batteries and DC power supply, the batteries will then act as backup battery (in case of power failure).!
If connected to DC power, your caller station will benefit from two extra features:!
✦Night lighting: When it gets dark, the caller station call button ①will light up to welcome your visitors (and the
keypad buttons ②, on concerned models only) !
✦Wireless gate release always available: On DC, the wireless gate release is always available, even when you are
not in communication, by a long press on the ⑬(on batteries, unlock is only available during communication)!
On battery, these features will automatically be turned offto save battery life.!
DANGER: Under no circumstances should AC mains Voltage (220V) be directly connected to the terminal
blocks ⑨.
✦Optional external aerial!
If necessary, an optional external aerial can be added to your installation. This aerial improves the wireless range by
avoiding the main obstacles in your environment: mounting wall, metal gate, wireless interference, trees, buildings, …
By using an external aerial, your wireless signal will be sent from a better starting point. Simply screw the add on
aerial to the loose cable ⑩(remove the red tip) at the back of the caller station. For your caller station to use the
external aerial, please set the ⑥switch to EXT.!
IMPORTANT: If you are not using the optional external aerial, the switch must be on INT (the system will use
the built in aerial). The connector cable ⑩will not be in use and can be left loose at the back of the caller
station (with the red tip).!

✦Gate / door latch (N/O •Com •N/C)!
There are also terminals marked N/O and N/C for connection to a gate which can be remotely opened by the
handset. The operation of two most common types of electric door latch on the market are either “normally
closed” (N/C) or “normally open” (N/O). This is a momentary output.!
During a communication, a press on the handset unlock button ⑬will trigger the caller station’s relay.!
If powered by DC, the relay can be triggered at any moment by a long press on the ⑬button.!
✦Normally closed (N/C)
Please connect your gate or lock to the terminal block N/C and Com.!
The caller station will open the relay momentarily (1 second) when the handset unlock button ⑬is pressed (or
when the code is entered on the keypad, on concerned models only).!
✦Normally open (N/O)
Please connect your gate or lock to the terminal block N/O and Com.!
The caller station will close the relay momentarily (1 second) when the handset unlock button ⑬is pressed (or
when the code is entered on the keypad, on concerned models only).!
On DC power, if you need a momentary 12-24V power output (to trigger a door latch for example), you can&
loop the +over to the relay Com (see diagram below).!
On battery, only a momentary dry normally closed or open can be used.!
NOTE: If you need a longer trigger, please connect a timer relay. Our services can help you if necessary.!

IMPORTANT NOTES
➡The power amperage provided depends on your input (by default 2A with our optional transformer). This
should be enough for most locks. However, if your UltraCOM caller station blocks up (red LED ④stays
ON), then you may need to use higher power amperage (up to 5A).
➡No voltage should run back into the caller station’s relay ⑨or else your unit can lock up and stop
functioning. In this case, you need to down power your caller station, check your connections and power
up the unit again.
➡If you have looped your DC 12-24V supply and if your electric door lock does not function, please reverse
the polarity on your lock (or relay) and try again.
✦Auxiliary trigger (AUX)!
These two terminals act like a N/O switch and will be short circuited during the caller station ring once the call button
①is pressed. However, there is no voltage supply from the terminals, it is a dry relay (N/O). They can be used,
for example, to trigger a conventional door chime or a courtesy light at the entrance. You can also loop your power
input, as described in the previous diagram.!
8. Finally, screw the front plate back onto the back plate using the supplied tool.!

WELL DONE, YOUR INSTALLATION IS NOW COMPLETE!
