The present Manual contains basic instructions for
installation, operation and maintenance.
Please, read the present Manual carefully before the device
operation in order to avoid accidents and breakage.
CORRECT USE AND FUNCTIONAL
CAPABILITIES
The device is designed for automatic on and off control of
single-phase surface and submersible pumps (including
vibration pumps) with power of up to 1.5 kW according to
ow and minimum pressure (Pmin), it can be also used as
the pump protection device against dry-running and other
emergency situations.
The device maintains thresholds of Pmax and Pmin set by
pressure sensor in water supply system (switches the pump
on at Pmin and switches the pump off at Pmax).
In case the pump, for some reason, does not produce the
preset Pmax in the system (improper selection, the pump
failure, low supply voltage or other emergency situations),
the pump is switched off with 30-second delay at ow rate of
less than 2 l/min.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATING
PRINCIPLE
TURBI-M2 control unit consists of sealed plastic housing
(1) and upper cover with rubber bushing (2). On the housing

5

EN
there are two screwed connecting ttings with 1» external
thread (3) and two cable glands (4). On upper cover there is
signal LED for the device mode indication (5).
Flow sensor (FS), dual-threshold pressure sensor (PS) and
electronic circuit board with microcontroller which sets
the device operation program are installed inside housing.
FS consists of turbine rotating upon an axis by water ow,
and sealed contact. In turbine vanes, there are two magnets
installed symmetrically.
The device operating principle is that the ow sensor
turbine starts to rotate when water ow is passing through
it at a rate higher than 2 l/min. The sealed contact, when
approaching magnets in turbine vanes, receives pulses
and delivers them to microcontroller. The microcontroller
processes this information, and power relay turns the pump
on. At this time the pump continuously delivers water
producing the system pressure corresponding to pressure
thresholds Pmin (cut-in pressure) and Pmax (cut-off pressure)
preset by sensor.
If the pump, for some reason, cannot produce the system
pressure Рmax, then it is switched off with 30-second delay
when water ow stops or its rate drops to 2 l/min and is
automatically switched on when water ow rate is more
than 2 l/min but not earlier than in 2 seconds after the pump
switching off. In this case the system pressure is determined
by the pump parameters, pressure tank capacity and
connection diagram thereof.
In the absence of water ow, the control unit automatically
switches the pump off providing protection against dry-
running and other emergency situations.

SAFETY MEASURES
1. The device is under the life-threatening supply voltage of
220V, 50 Hz. Installation and electrical connection should
be made by qualied specialists in strict accordance with
“Rules for Technical Operation of Electric Installations
of Consumers” and “Safety Code for Technical Operation
of Electric Installations of Consumers”.
2. Before any operations, disconnect the device from power
line and open valves in order to blow the system pressure
down.
3. Do not use the control unit without grounding.
4. Do not use the control unit with upper cover removed.
5. The device dismounting and repair shall be performed
only by maintenance specialists.
OPERATION ALGORITHM
1. At water ow rate of more than 2 l/min, the pump is
switched on and starts to pump water continuously
(pump mode).
2. The device can operate in two modes – basic mode and
temporary mode.
Basic mode:
The pump is automatically switched off at the system pres-
sure Pmax and switched on at pressure drop to Pmin.

8
installation and operation manual
Temporary mode:
This mode is automatically set when the pump, for a variety
of reasons, cannot produce Pmax. In this case the pump is
switched off with 30-second delay when water ow stops and
rate thereof drops to 2 l/min. The pump is switched on when
water ow appears (more than 2 l/min) but not earlier than in
2 seconds after the pup switching off.
3. In the absence of water ow and the system pressure
drop to Рmin, the pump is switched on and operates during
30 seconds. If after thirty-second interval water ow rate
is not more than 2 l/min, the control unit is transferred to
pre-emergency mode.
4. After transfer to pre-emergency mode, the device produces
6 automatic trial starts of 30 seconds each – in 5, 20 and
60 minutes and then – in 6, 12 and 24 hours. When water
appears during any trial starts, the pump is automatically
switched on and transferred to pump mode.
5. In the absence of water during full cycle of trial starts, the
pump is switched off and transferred to emergency mode.
6. Exit from emergency mode is made manually by discon-
necting the control unit from power line for not less than 6
seconds.
ATTENTION! The control unit can enter emergency mode not
only in the absence of water ow but also when supply voltage
drops below 170 V, in case of improper installation, impeller
jamming and in other emergency situations. Before restarting
the device, make sure that the cause of accident is eliminated. It
is not permissible to use the pump at very low water ow - less
than 2 l/min.

PUTTING INTO OPERATION
Before putting the system with TURBI-M2 control unit into
operation, it is necessary to ll the pump and suction line
with water and remove air completely. To do this, open all
valves, connect power supply and pump water into the sys-
tem as long as it ows from all valves.
OPERATING RULES FOR SYSTEM
WITH TURBI- M2 CONTROL UNIT
1. It is necessary to comply with requirements to pumped
uid (see Section “Specications”).
2. Compressed air pressure in pressure tanks shall be lower
than Pmin by 0.1 - 0.2 bar. It is necessary to check it at
least once a month in accordance with Manual for Pre
sure Tank.
