Connect CLS-1 to your TV and/or other sound source:
The CLS-1 has two inputs that can be used to connect your TV, DVD, Cable Box or other
sound source and two inputs which can be used for microphones. Connect TV, DVD,
stereo etc. to the Line input. If you want to connect both TV and another sound source
(e.g. stereo) use the Line input for one of the sound sources and the combined Mic/Line
input for the other sound source.
Microphone: Can be used for someone else to talk to you while using the loop. It should
be connected to the special microphone input (Mic) on the right. The microphone should
be an electret type microphone. The input level from the Mic jack can be adjusted by the
knob next to the mic input. Note: If no microphone is connected to the mic input the
volume control knob should be turned to the left to avoid poor sound. Electret
microphones can be purchased at HearingLossHelp.com.
Power adapter: Connect the power adapter (transformer) to the output on the rear panel
and plug it into wall power. The right LED light will light steadily when power is connected.
Make adjustments of volume (loop current), bass, and treble:
Sound volume: The sound level in the loop is adjusted with the volume control
(thumbwheel). The sound level may also be affected by the source of the sound such as
the TV volume. Note: The Loop Pad or wire needs to be attached for this to light.
Bass and treble: You can adjust bass and treble by using the two control knobs.
Indication lights and controls on front panel:
There are three blue LED’s in the front panel to indicate all functions of the amplifier are
working properly:
Power on/off: The power indicator is on the right side. If this LED is lit the amplifier is
correctly connected to power.
Microphone level: The left LED indicates the sensitivity of the mic input. If this mic
sensitivity control is correctly set, this LED shall light up at peak mic volume. If no
microphone is connected this LED lights up when there is a sufficiently strong line input.
Loop current: The LED indicating the loop current strength is located in the center. When
this LED is lit it indicates the loop (wire or loop pad) is connected and working.
Maintenance:
Under normal circumstances UniVox® loop amplifiers do not need any special
maintenance. Should the unit become dirty, wipe the unit with a slightly damp cloth.
Do not use solvent or heavy cleaning agents. The CLS-1 is designed to be left on
continuously.
The amplifier has efficient cooling (the metal case dissipates the heat from the
electronics) and therefore, when used with a wire, it may become warm to the touch.
