Die VMS-B-Module sind nur zum Anschluss an das VACUUBRAND BUS-System
VACUU•BUSTM bestimmt!
Das VMS-B-Modul nur in Verbindung mit VACUUBRAND Vakuum-Controllern, einer
VACUUBRAND Vakuummembranpumpe und VACUUBRAND Ventilen betreiben.
Nach dem Auspacken Bauteile auf Vollständigkeit und Beschädigungen überprüfen.
Beschädigte Teile nicht in Betrieb nehmen!
Betriebsanleitung lesen und beachten.
Alle einschlägigen Vorschriften (z. B. Unfallverhütungsvorschriften, Explosions-
schutzrichtlinien) beachten und entsprechende Sicherheitsvorkehrungen treffen.
☞ Gerät nur mit einer Schutzkontaktsteckdose verbinden, nur einwandfreie, den
Vorschriften entsprechende Netzkabel verwenden. Schadhafte/unzureichende
Erdung ist eine tödliche Gefahr.
☞ Die elektrischen Anschlussdaten der Pumpe (Bemessungsspannung und -strom)
sowie des Kühlwasserventils müssen mit den Daten des lokalen Netzes überein-
stimmen.
☞ Beim Schalten von Pumpen mit Anlaufsteuerung (MD 8(C), MZ 8(C), ME 16(C),
MD 12(C), MV 10(C), RE 9, RZ 9, RE 16, RZ 16, RC 6) können kurz aufeinander
folgende Schaltzyklen dazu führen, dass die Pumpe nicht anläuft.
VACUUBRAND ATEX Pumpen dürfen nicht häuger als 1x pro Stunde ein-/aus-
geschalten werden.
☞ Zulässige Umgebungsbedingungen beachten (IP-Schutzart, Temperatur). Aus-
reichende Luftzufuhr sicherstellen. Alle einschlägigen Vorschriften (Normen und
Richtlinien) beachten und entsprechende Sicherheitsvorkehrungen treffen.
➨ Bei allen komplexen elektronischen Komponenten besteht ein Restrisiko des
Ausfalls. Dieser kann zu undenierten Zuständen des Geräts führen. Der An-
wender muss dafür Sorge tragen, dass in jedem Fall die Anlage in einen sicheren
Zustand geführt wird, bzw. geeignete Schutzmaßnahmen für einen Ausfall oder
eine Fehlfunktion des Geräts vorsehen.
☞ Ein Schalten der Pumpe oder des Kühlwasserventils darf in keinem Fall zu einem
gefährlichen Zustand führen.
• Nur Originalteile und Originalzubehör verwenden.
• Bei Verwendung von Komponenten anderer Hersteller kann die Funktion bzw.
Sicherheit des Produkts sowie die elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit einge-
schränkt sein.
Alle anwendbaren Sicherheitsbestimmungen beachten.
Eingriffe am Bauteil nur durch sachkundige Personen.
Reparatur von eingesandten Bauteilen ist nur gemäß den gesetzlichen Bestimmun-
gen (Arbeitssicherheit, Umweltschutz) und Auagen möglich.

Vor dem Austausch der Sicherung Gerät ausschalten und den Netzstecker ziehen.
Anschließend 2 Minuten warten, bis sich die Kondensatoren entladen haben.

➨ Im Sicherungshalter benden sich zwei Sicherungen gleichen Typs. Defekte Si-

VMS-B-Modul kongurieren
(z. B. zum Schalten eines 230V / 50 Hz Kühlwasser-, Belüftungs- oder Saugleitungsventils)
Konguration ist nur möglich mit CVC 3000 ab Softwareversion V 1.30.
Umkonguration der VACUU•BUS-Adresse des VMS-B-Moduls:
1. Vakuum-Messgerät CVC 3000 ausschalten.
2. Nur das VMS-B-Modul anschließen, das umkonguriert werden soll.
3. Taste ”VENT” gedrückt halten und CVC 3000 einschalten (Taste ”ON/OFF” drücken).
4. Den Menüpunkt ”Vacuubus” durch Drehen und Drücken des Wahlknopfs auswählen.
5. Die erste vom VACUU•BUS erkannte Komponente wird angezeigt. Falls erforderlich eine andere
Komponente durch Drehen des Wahlknopfs auswählen.
6. Taste ”MODE” gedrückt halten und Wahlknopf drücken. Die Invertierung der Komponentenanzeige
wird durch einen Rahmen ersetzt.
7. Wahlknopf drehen, bis die Adresse angezeigt wird, auf die das VMS-B-Modul umkonguriert werden
soll (z.B. Saugv. 1, Wasser 2, ...).
8. Wahlknopf drücken. Bei erfolgter Konguration (Meldung ”Erfolgreich” wird eingeblendet) wird das
Menü verlassen und das CVC 3000 neu gestartet.
Eine Konguration mehrerer Komponenten auf die gleiche VACUU•BUS-Adresse führt zu Fehlerzustän-
den am CVC 3000 und ist daher unbedingt zu vermeiden!

Der Vakuum-Controller CVC 3000 erkennt das angeschlossene VMS-B-Modul automatisch und kon-
gurieren sich entsprechend. Sobald kein Vakuum mehr benötigt wird (bzw. nach am Controller einstell-
barer Nachlaufzeit) sendet der Controller ein Signal an das VMS-B-Modul und das Modul schaltet die
angeschlossene Vakuumpumpe ab. Bei zwei angeschlossenen Controllern erfolgt die Abschaltung der
Pumpe erst, wenn beide Controller das Signal gesendet haben, dass kein Vakuum mehr benötigt wird.
Das Einschalten der Pumpe bei Vakuumanforderung erfolgt analog und vollautomatisch.
Achtung: VARIO Pumpen und Pumpstände werden von einem VMS-B-Modul nicht geschaltet.
Auch in Verbindung mit Pumpständen PC 5xx NT oder PC 6xx NT können 230V-Elektromagnetventile
geschaltet werden, die Pumpe wird dann nicht mehr vom VMS-B-Modul geschaltet.
Das VMS-B-Modul muss zum Schalten eines 230V-Elektromagnetventils entsprechend konguriert
werden, siehe „VMS-B-Modul kongurieren“.

Anschluss des VMS-B-Moduls an Pumpstände
Montage an Pumpstände PC 5xx NT / PC 6xx NT
- Controller CVC 3000 aus dem Gehäuse herausziehen.
- Verbindungskabel vom VMS-B-Modul zwischen Pumpe
und Frontblende durchstecken und nach oben in Richtung
Controller herausführen.
- Verbindungskabel des Controllers zur Pumpe am Cont-
roller abziehen und Verbindungskabel zum VMS-B-Modul
einstecken.
- Controller wieder in das Gehäuse einstecken.
Nur PC 520 NT / PC 620 NT: Der zweite Controller wird ana-
log mit dem VMS-B-Modul verbunden.

Safety information!
The VMS-B-Modules are to be connected only to the VACUUBRAND BUS system
VACUU•BUSTM!
Connect the VMS-B-Module only to VACUUBRAND vacuum controllers, a VACU-
UBRAND vacuum diaphragm pump and VACUUBRAND valves.
Read the manual before installing or operating the equipment.
Remove all packing material, remove the product from its packing-box and inspect
the equipment.
If the equipment is damaged, notify the supplier and the carrier in writing within three
days; state the item number of the product together with the order number and the
supplier’s invoice number. Retain all packing material for inspection.
Do not use the equipment if it is damaged.
Read and comply with this manual.
Obey national safety regulations and safety requirements concerning the use of
vacuum and electrical equipment and adopt suitable safety measures.
☞The product must be connected only to a suitable fused and protected electrical
supply and a suitable earth point. Failure to connect the device to ground may
result in deadly electrical shock.
☞ Check that mains voltage and current conform with the pump and the cooling
water valve.
☞ If pumps with start-up control (MD 8(C), MZ 8(C), ME 16(C), MD 12(C), MV 10(C),
RZ 9, RC 6) are managed, the pump might not start running in case of frequent
on/off switching at short intervals.
VACUUBRAND ATEX pumps must not be switched on/off frequently than 1x per
hour.
☞ Ensure that installation is in compliance with limitations from the degree of pro-
tection, see section „Technical data“. Make sure ventilation is adequate if the
product is installed in an enclosure or if ambient temperature is elevated.
➨ Electronic equipment is never 100% fail-safe. This may lead to an ill-dened sta-
tus of the equipment or of other connected devices. Provide protective measures
against malfunction and failure. Ensure that in case of failure the controller and
the vacuum system always will turn into a safe status.
☞ The switching of the pump or a cooling water valve must not lead to a critical
dangerous situation under any circumstances.
• Use only OEM spare parts and accessories.
• Otherwise safety and performance of the equipment as well as the electromag-
netic compatibility of the equipment might be reduced.
Obey all other relevant safety requirements (e. g. accident prevention regulations for
working in laboratories and explosion protection guidelines). Adopt suitable safety
measures.
Ensure that maintenance is done only by a suitably trained and supervised techni-
cian. In order to comply with law (occupational, health and safety regulations, safety
at work law and regulations for environmental protection) components returned to
the manufacturer can be repaired only when certain procedures are followed.

Replacing the device fuse
Switch off the device and disconnect it from mains before replacing the fuse. After
disconnecting from mains wait two minutes to allow the capacitors to discharge.
Identify and eliminate the cause of failure before switching on the device again.
➨ Keep the snap-t squeezed and pull the fuse holder out.
➨ The fuse holder contains two fuses of the same type. Replace the defective fuse
by a fuse of the same type (see ”Technical data”).
➨ Insert the fuse holder into the device until it snaps.

The vacuum controller CVC 3000 detects the connected VMS-B-Module automatically and is congu-
rated accordingly. If no vacuum is required (or after a preset delay) the controller sends a signal to the
VMS-B-Module and the module switches off a connected vacuum pump. If two controllers are con-
nected the pump is switched off if both controllers have sent the signal that no vacuum is still required.
Switching on the pump takes place analogously and fully automatic.
Attention: VARIO pumps and pumping units are not switched by a VMS-B-Module.
In combination with pumping units PC 5xx NT or PC 6xx NT a 230V solenoid operated valve can also
be switched, however the pump is then no longer switched by the VMS-B-Module.
To switch a 230V solenoid operated valve the VMS-B-Module has to be congured appropriately, see
section “Reconguring the VMS-B-Module”.
Reconguring the VMS-B-Module
(e. g. to switch a 230V / 50 Hz coolant, venting or in-line valve)
Conguration is only possible with CVC 3000 from software version V 1.30.
Reconguring the VACUU•BUS address of the VMS-B-Module
1. Switch the vacuum controller CVC 3000 off.
2. Preferably connect only the VMS-B-Module to be recongured.
3. Keep key ”VENT” pressed and switch the CVC 3000 on (key ”ON/OFF”).
4. Select the menu item ”Vacuubus” by turning and pressing the selection knob.
5. The rst component detected by the VACUU•BUS is displayed. If necessary, select the component
to be recongured by turning and pressing the selection knob.
6. Keep key ”MODE” pressed and press selection knob additionally. The inverse display of the compo-
nent is replaced by a frame.
7. Turn the selection knob until the address, to which you want to recongure the VMS-B-Module (e.g.,
Isol.v. 1, Waterv. 2, ...), is displayed.
8. Press the selection knob. If the conguration was successful, the menu is quit and the CVC 3000
restarts.
A conguration of more than one components to the same VACUU•BUS address will result in error con-
ditions at the CVC 3000 and must therefore be avoided!

Connecting a VMS-B-Module to pumping units
Assembling to pumping units PC 5xx NT / PC 6xx NT
- Pull controller CVC 3000 out of the housing.
- Insert connection cable of the VMS-B-Module between
pump and front part in direction of the controller.
- Unplug connection cable of the controller to the pump and
plug in cable from the VMS-B-Module.
- Insert controller into housing.

analog to the VMS-B-Module.

VACUUBRAND GMBH + CO KG has made reasonable efforts to ensure that hazardous mate-
rials and substances may not be used in its products.
In order to determine the concentration of hazardous substances in all homogeneous materials of the
subassemblies, a “Product Conformity Assessment” (PCA) procedure was performed. As defined in
GB/T 26572 the “Maximum Concentration Value” limits (MCV) apply to these restricted substances:
Lead (Pb):
0.1%
Mercury (Hg):
0.1%
Cadmium (Cd):
0.01%
Hexavalent chromium (Cr(+VI)):
0.1%
Polybrominated biphenlys (PBB):
0.1%

Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE):
0.1%
Environmental Protection Use Period (EPUP)
EPUP defines the period in years during which the hazardous substances contained
in electrical and electronic products will not leak or mutate under normal operating
conditions. During normal use by the user such electrical and electronic products will
not result in serious environmental pollution, cause serious bodily injury or damage to
the user’s assets.
The environmental Protection Use Period for VACUUBRAND products is 40 years.

Products manufactured by VACUUBRAND may enter into further devices (e.g., rotary evaporator) or
can be used together with other appliances (e.g., usage as booster pumps).
With these products and appliances in particular, please note the EFUP labeled on these products.
VACUUBRAND will not take responsibility for the EFUP of those products and appliances.
