Handling battery during long storage time
If PSU501 is kept in storage for long periods of time, the battery inside may discharge.
If you store PSU501 for more than 1 month, do one of the following:
• Disconnect the battery and reconnect it before installing the Beacon station, or
• Charge the battery once a month

Disconnecting and reconnecting battery
Before you start, make sure that the power cable is not connected.CAUTION!
1. To remove the PSU501 top cover, unscrew the fastening screws (6 pcs) and lift the cover. Use either a 5.5‑mm flat head
screwdriver or a pozidriv screwdriver (PZ2).
2. To remove the PSU501 inner cover, unscrew the M4 nuts (5 pcs) and lift the cover.
3. Locate the battery cables in the enclosure.
The cables are red/black. The other ends are connected to the battery terminals and the other ends to the component
board.
4. On the component board, disconnect the battery by unplugging the green cable connector plug.
5. Put the inner cover back in place.

6. To fasten the nuts, first turn each nut a few rounds one by one. Then tighten the nuts hand-tight.
7. Put the top cover back in place.
8. Tighten the screws until the cover makes good contact with the surface of the enclosure base.
9. To reconnect the battery, follow step 1 – step 8. In step 4, instead of unplugging, attach the green cable connector plug
to the component board. After the cable is connected, check that the component board status LED is blinking green
every 10 seconds.

Charging battery
Charge the battery once a month.
To make sure that the battery reaches a sucient voltage level during charging, charge the battery at least half a day at a time.
1. Take a power cable and attach the AC (mains) connector to it. The connector is delivered with PSU501.
For instructions, see document Preparing AC (mains) power connector.
2. To start charging, connect the power cable between AC in connector in PSU501 and AC (mains) power source.
