Preface
This installation manual is intended for use by the technicians who install the Enpres. It’s not a
manual for the end-user.
Because the Enpres has no real function when it’s not connected to a suitable installation, the Enpres
has been classified as an unfinished machine.
This installation manual only contains safety regulations concerning assembly, connecting and working
with the Enpres itself. This is no instruction manual for the whole installation, that instruction manual
must be provided by the installer of the Enpres.
Each chapter has a number and the chapters have been divided into paragraphs where needed. The
table of contents on page 2 gives an overview of the chapters, the paragraphs and page numbers.
When there’s a number between brackets behind a component this refers to the component number
in image 3, 4 or 5.

1. Identification
This chapter contains some general information about the machine, goal of this chapter is providing
the reader with an idea about the machine, its purpose and mechanics involved.
1.1 General information
1.1.1 Description of the machine
The Enpres consists of six main components;
1. Engine, an electromotor or petrol engine which operates the high pressure piston pump.
2. Engine mounting plate, a galvanised metal plate to which all components are mounted.
3. Transmission guard, a screen covering the pulleys and belts.
4. Pressure regulator, a regulator with which the outgoing pressure can be regulated.
5. Transmission, a set of two to four pulleys and toothed V-belts.
6. Piston pump, high pressure pump (from now: ‘pump’) with generally three pistons
The purpose of the machine is to bring a fluid in a system onto (high) pressure.
Because the Enpres has no practical use or function as long as it’s not installed and connected to a
suitable installation, the Enpres can be classified as an unfinished machine.

1.3 Logic control of the machine
The controls of the Enpres consists of the controls of the pressure regulator (4) and a three position
switch (“off” , “star ” and “delta ”) on the engine (23). This switch is only installed if the
Enpres is controlled manually and not by a softstarter of frequency converter.
With the three position switch the engine can be started. By starting the engine with the switch in star
position and changing the switch position to delta when the electromotor is already running, the
amount of initial current (“peak current”) can be reduced. This reduces the chance on blown fuses.
The controls of the pressure regulator are shown in the image on the next page, however, some
varieties are possible, with one or two connections, with or without pressure gauge and/or digital
pressure gauge. However, the principle will remain the same.

When starting the pump, handle D must be vertical, so that the pump can start pressure free and a
high initial current is prevented. Put the three position to the star position to start the motor. Switch
to the delta position after the electromotor has been running for a few seconds. If everything works
correct, there must be fluid coming out of the overflow connection and the pressure gauge displays
(as good as) zero pressure. When handle D is now set in the horizontal position the pump will start
delivering pressure, this pressure can be regulated with the turning knob A. (For an extensive
description of the starting procedure see chapter 5.)
Handle C enables the user to close or (partially open) the pressure line to the installation.
1.4 Intended users
Intended users/installers are any person of 18 years and older working at the company the Enpres is
(going to be) installed, who have the competence and authority to work with or install the Enpres.
Unintended users/installers are any person who don’t apply to the above description. Also, unintended
users/installers are users/installers who cause unsafe situations and/or dangers for themselves or
others by using/installing the Enpres.
1.5 Use of the Enpres
The Enpres is intended for use as a high pressure piston pump in a suitable installation/system in
combination with fluid media.
The Enpres is not intended for use other than described above.

1.6 Media
Because of the limited chemical resistance of the materials the Enpres consists of, the Enpres cannot
be used for every fluid media. Questions concerning the use of fluid media other than plane water can
be posed to the manufacturer.
The maximum temperature of the fluid media is 40°C .
1.7 Working environment
The Enpres is intended for use as a high pressure pump in a suitable installation/system, in
combination with fluid media. Hereby the installation prescriptions must be satisfied.
Make sure there is plenty of free space around the Enpres.
The Enpres produces vibrations just as every other piston pump, these are already minimized, but in
order to further reduce these vibrations, the Enpres can be placed on four shock absorbers. When
doing so, the shock absorbers should be placed in holders to ensure they stay in place and the Enpres
doesn’t move around.
The Enpres is not intended for use in an explosive surroundings
1.8 Terms of warranty
The guarantee period is six months after it is put in use, with as utmost date two years after
production date. The date the Enpres is put in use is the date it is installed in a installation/system.
When guarantee is claimed, the subjected parts must be returned to the manufacturer for
assessment.
The guarantee expires at one or more of the following conditions:
Incompetent use or assembly.
Repeatedly ignoring of recommendations of manufacturer and/or the supplier.
Repairs, maintenance or use by unauthorized persons (unintended users/installers).
Use of unsuitable connections concerning electric supply, electric control or lines.
Use of the machine in an unsuitable working environment.
Intentional damage or modification of the machine.
The guarantee conditions are in accordance with METAALUNIEVOORWAARDEN (edition January
2019).
1.9 CE sign
The CE sign relates to the complying to the provisions in the various directives on machinery, low
voltage applications, and EMC. Because the Enpres is an unfinished machine not all provisions could
be met, it’s the task of the installer to make sure the whole installation complies with these directives.
The CE sign can be found on the sticker on the engine mounting plate.
According to the low voltage directive the Enpres has been classified as a class I machinery.

1.10 Remaining risks
Practically and economically seen it is not possible to cover all risk for a full 100% , besides this, a risk
of the machine can be closely linked with the functionality of the machine. The so-called rest risks are
listed in the table below. The manufacturer has done all possible to reduce the amount and level of
risks, but it is important that the user is aware of the fact that risks are involved with the use of this
machine.

2. Description
In this chapter, the mechanics involved in the Enpres are explained, the reader is provided with all the
necessary information for the installation and usage of the Enpres.
2.1 Functioning of the Enpres
The pump of the Enpres works much alike a petrol engine, a set of pistons moves from side to side in
a cylinder pumping fluid media to the press line. Via a crankshaft the pistons are powered which push
and suck the media trough various one way valves.
A piston pump provides a pulsating flow of media, this pulsation is reduced by the use of multiple
pistons, but will always be present in a slight form.
2.2 General mechanics
On the outgoing axis of the engine a pulley with two or more grooves is attached. On the outgoing
axis of the pump there is a pulley with just as much grooves, two or more V-belts connect these two
pulleys and transmit the rotation of the electromotor to the pump.
Because the pump axis rotates, two or three pistons move from side to side in the cylinders, by this a
fluid media is being pumped trough the system. The engine and pump rotate at a constant rpm, the
volume of media which is pumped is proportional to this rpm.
On the pressure regulator a ball valve (C) is placed with which the press line can be opened or closed.
The pressure regulator distributes the water from the pump to the press line and the overflow
connection, by doing this, the pressure to the press line can be altered. The press line pressure, so
the pressure which is ‘fed’ into the system can be set and controlled by the regulator. When no water
is being taken from the press line (so when the press line is closed), all of the water is leaving the
regulator trough the overflow connection.
When more water is taken from the Enpres than the pump can deliver, there will be no more water
coming out of the overflow connection and the pressure in the press line will drop below the set value.
In order to prevent this and ensure a correct functioning of the pressure regulator, there should
always be a little water coming out of the overflow connection.
2.3 Transportation and storing
Transport and storing of the Enpres has not been done in a special packing. The Enpres can be put
down stably, but cannot be stacked without special precautions. The Enpres must be protected from
water and dirt and is IP54.

3. Safety instructions
You must read this instruction manual carefully and take the necessary safety measures before
placing and using the Enpres.
The Enpres can only be used for the scope for which the Enpres was designed (see 1.7 and 1.8 for
more information).
The Enpres was designed to function as a high pressure pump in an installation with fluid media.
These fluids can only contain those chemicals to which the materials of the pump are resistant (see
1.3 and 1.5 for more information).
During maintenance and/or reparation of the Enpres the power must be disconnected and the
installation must be made pressure-free. The disconnection of the power must be done with a lockable
main switch (with for example a Padlock). After reparation and/or maintenance always connect
everything and test the installation.
Reparation or connection of the electrical part of the Enpres must be done by professional staff.
Always use a four core wire to connect the electromotor to the power connection. This wire must be
of sufficient quality and diameter, according to relevant decrees.
Always connect the earth wire to the electromotor connection terminal marked with the earth sign.
Make sure the electromotor is connected to a electric group fused at 16 A in combination with a GFCI
of 30 mA.
Check whether the Enpres is pressure free and isolated from the installation after stopping the Enpres.
Follow all installation and safety instructions. Ignoring these instruction van cause serious injury or
damage to people and products.

4. Installation
4.1 In general
The Enpres is classified as an unfinished machine, because of that, the producer can’t comply with all
the legally prescribed safety regulations, such as a emergency stop and a logical control. It is
therefore important that the installer looks after this. The installer must bring the entire installation
into agreement with the relevant European directives after the installation.
4.2 Installation
The installation / the lines onto which the Enpres is going to be connected must comply with the
following regulations:
There must be a non-adjustable overpressure valve installed.
oThe overpressure valve must act on the systems maximum working pressure.
The connections to the Enpres must be flexible spiral lines.
oThis prevents vibrations being transferred into the system and lines rupturing due to this
vibration.
When the Enpres is electrically powered, a maximum current protection must be installed and set
to the correct value to protect the electric motor.
When the Enpres is electrically powered, the main power switch must be installed within the area
visible from the Enpres. If this is impossible the main switch must be lockable with a Padlock.
When the Enpres is petrol powered, their must be sufficient ventilation in order to prevent the
exhaust fumes from piling up.
All lines and fittings must be designed for the maximum pressure the pump can deliver.
All lines and fittings must be airtight and of sufficient quality.
Suction , overflow and press lines must have an inner diameter at least the inner diameter of the
connections. Maximum over- and underpressure of lines and fittings must not be exceeded.

4.2 Installation
Place the Enpres in a suitable place:
oplace the Enpres on a stable foundation;
omake sure the Enpres is placed level;
omake sure the Enpres can’t vibrate out of its place;
if necessary, use vibration dampers and holders;
omake sure there is sufficient free space around the Enpres;
omake sure the Enpres is protected to rain, frost and heat;
owhen using the petrol powered Enpres; make sure there is sufficient ventilation.
Connect the suction line (connection 12):
ouse flexible spiral lines for the connections;
this prevents lines from rupturing of breaking due to vibrations;
ouse a sufficiently large filter;
maximum filtration degree 200 μm;
this prevents dirt as well as foreign object from entering the pump or suction line;
omake sure the suction line can’t empty (not even partially) while the pump is not running;
this prevents air from entering the suction line;
when the pump runs without fluid, there is a substantial risk on irreparable
damage to the pump.
Connect the press line (connection 21):
ouse flexible spiral lines for the connections;
this prevents lines from rupturing or breaking due to vibrations;
oinstall a non-adjustable overpressure valve.
Connect the overflow line (connection 20):
odo not connect the overflow to the suction line;
this seems practical, but can influence the functioning of the pump negatively.
When the overflow would be connected to the suction, the temperature of the
fluid would rise quickly above the maximum of 40°C and cause a dramatic
reduced lifetime or irreparable damage to the pump;
ouse flexible spiral lines;
this prevents lines from rupturing or breaking due to vibrations.
Whit an electrical powered Enpres:
connect the earth connection;
ouse the instruction in the annexes;
connect the electrical power;
ouse the instructions in the annexes;
connect the electronic pressure switch (optional);
ouse the instructions in the annexes;
use a maximum current protection with current setting to prevent damage to the electromotor;
omake sure the maximum current is set to the right value;
see the annex “Electrical connection of the three position switch”;
oif a protection is already incorporated in the logic controls/software no additional
protection is needed;
place a main switch;
othis switch must physically disconnect the entire Enpres before reparations and such;
use a short-circuit protection where needed;
place a emergency stop where needed.

With a petrol powered Enpres:
fill the tank with petrol
check the oil level of the engine
4.3 Actions before use:
check the oil level with the dipstick (26) or with the oil level indicator (24);
othe oil level should be above the marking;
check whether all connections are correctly connected;
check whether all lines are securely connected;
check whether the guard (3) is securely connected;
check whether the handle (16) is in the vertical position;
put the main switch on;
start the motor for 5 to 10 seconds
odo not exceed this time, the pump is running without fluid and will overheat otherwise;
oif possible, help filling the suction line;
after a 30 second break, start the motor for another 5 to 10 seconds;
repeat this sequence until there is fluid coming out of the overflow connection (20);
the pump is now ready for use.

5. Using the Enpres
ATTENTION: with the manual controlled Enpres (with a three position switch) the pump
must be started by means of putting the three position switch in the star position. After a
few seconds, the three position switch must be turned from the star position to the delta
position to avoid irreparable damage to the motor (see 5.2 for more information).
5.1 In general
never leave the pump running without fluid and/or oil;
too little oil will cause the pump to overheat and it will be irreparable damaged;
never set the pressure to above the maximum value;
osee the sticker on the cooling fan cap and the CE sticker on the motor mounting plate for
the maximum value;
keep the pump, the fluid tank, and fluid supply clean;
make sure that before starting the guard is placed and secured to the mounting plate;
check the suction filters and suction lines on a daily base;
for questions and advice the manufacturer can be consulted.
Petrol powered Enpres:
first read the instruction manual of the petrol engine;
use clean petrol;
check filters and motor oil daily.
5.2 Starting
close the bullet valve (21) between pump and press line with the handle (9);
open the handle for pressure free start-up by means of putting it in a vertical position;
check whether the pump is pressure free;
othe pressure gauge should indicate 0 bar;
check whether the suction filter is clean and intact;
check the oil level.
With manual control;
start the electromotor by means of putting the three position switch (23) in the star position (1
click clockwise);
after 3 seconds turn the three position switch to the delta position (another click clockwise);
wait until fluid comes out of the overflow (20)
bring the pump onto pressure by putting the handle for pressure free start-up (16) to a horizontal
position;
set the desired working pressure by turning the black knob of the pressure regulator (19);
oa clockwise rotation increases the pressure;
oa anti clockwise rotation decreases the pressure;
open the bullet valve (21) between the pump and the press line with the handle (9);
oattention; the desired working pressure is set with closed bullet valve (21)!

With automatic control:
check whether the handle for pressure free start-up (16) is in a horizontal position;
owhen this handle is in a vertical position the pump can’t deliver any pressure;
turn the electromotor on;
othe speed of the electromotor should be increased in several steps;
oór a softstarter (optional) increases the speed of the electromotor continuous;
an electronic pressure switch is optional, when this switch doesn’t detect a set
pressure within 60 seconds this indicates an error and the motor is stopped;
set the desired working pressure by turning the black knob of the pressure regulator (19) ;
oa clockwise rotation increases the pressure;
oa anti clockwise rotation decreases the pressure;
open the bullet valve (21) between the pump and the press line with the handle (9);
oattention; the desired working pressure is set with closed bullet valve (21)!
check the working pressure with the pressure gauge (14).
5.3 Stopping
rinse the pump with clean water after each use;
close the bullet valve between pump and press line (21) with the handle (9);
when necessary, make the pump pressure free by means of putting the handle for pressure free
start-up (16) in the vertical position.
With manual control:
stop the electromotor by putting the three position switch (23) to O.
With automatic control:
stop the electromotor.
5.4 Decommissioning
When the pump won’t be used for a longer period of time, it is advised to keep the pump filled with
water, this prevents rust on the inside of the pump and the sticking of non return valves to their
housing.
However, when there is a change on frost the pump must be emptied in order to prevent it from
damage due to the freezing and expanding from the water inside.
ATTENTION:
The pump can be irreparable damaged by frost if the pump is not emptied.
Empty pump:
oclose the water supply to the pump;
oopen the handle for pressure free start-up (16) by means of putting it in a vertical position;
oclose the bullet valve between the pump and press line (21) with the handle (9);
ostart the pump;
ostop the pump when only a small amount of water is coming out of the overflow connection;
othe pump is empty now.
When the pump is left empty for a long period of time problems can occur with sticking non return
valves, see chapter 7 or contact the manufacturer.

6. Maintenance
In this chapter instructions on maintenance of the pump and its parts can be found.
Check before maintenance or reparations on the Enpres are performed whether the Enpres is pressure
free an that the main switch is turned off and locked.
After maintenance or reparations the guard must always be replaced and reconnected.
6.1 In general
Frequency: weakly.
turn the main switch off;
make the pump pressure free by putting the handle for pressure free start-up (16) to the vertical
position;
check the oil level with the dipstick (26) or with the oil level indicator (24);
othe oil level must be on the marking;
ofor filling or refreshing oil; see 6.2;
check whether all connections are correctly connected;
check whether all lines are connected correctly;
check the lines for wear and tear;
oreplace if necessary;
check all electrical wires for wear and tear;
check whether the guard is correctly connected;
check whether all nuts and bolts are correctly connected;
check the filter in the suction line
oremove foreign objects;
oremove dirt and scale
6.2 Changing oil
Frequency: see Table 9.
By changing the oil following the schedule below, the lifetime of the pump can be considerably
prolonged.

After oil is used more than 12 months, no matter how many hours, it should be refreshed.
Because of practical reasons it is best to change the oil when the pump is still lukewarm, the oil will be
thinner and the pump (carter) will empty more easily.
put the main switch to off
make the pump pressure free by putting the handle for pressure free start-up (16) in the vertical
position;
place an oil container under the oil drain plug (28);
othe drain plug is located directly beneath the oil level indicator;
remove the oil drain plug (28);
collect the old oil and treat it like small chemical waste;
owhen there is water with the oil; contact the manufacturer;
owhen the Enpres leaks oil; contact the manufacturer;

remove if necessary the metal flakes which are collected on the magnetic oil drain plug (28);
put the oil drain plug (28) back in;
remove the oil filling plug (26);
fill the pump with oil to the marked level;
ouse SAE20/30 or ‘Shell Omala S2 GX 220’ oil.
Make sure the oil is at the marked level on the oil level indicator, to much oil is as harmful as to little
oil.
For pumps fitted with grease nipples on the piston seals;
lubricate the grease nipples every 50 to 100 hours;
use 2cc lubricant per grease nipple.
6.3 Tensioning V-belts
Frequency: every 100 hours:
put the main switch to off;
make the pump pressure free by putting the handle for pressure free start-up (16) in the vertical
position;
remove the transmission guard (3);
loosen the nuts and bolts with which the pump is secured to the mounting plate;
tense the V-belts by turning the tension screw for the V-belts (17);
check the tension on the V-belts;
otake the V-belt between thumb and index finger;
otry to rotate the V-belt by rotating your wrist;
the V-belt must be able to rotate about 90 degrees;
line up the pulleys on the pump axle with the pulleys on the motor axle;
ouse the adjusting screw (18);
recheck the tension of the V-belts;
tighten the nuts and bolts with which the pump is secured to the mounting plate;
replace the transmission guard (3);
check whether the transmission guard is correctly connected;
put the main switch to on.
6.4 Leakage
Due to the working temperature (max 40°C ) and/or the quality of the water leakage between
cylinder and piston can occur after 500 to a 1000 hours.
Leakage of water and or oil must be fixed immediately in order to prevent malfunctions and damage.
Leakage of water can result in air entering the suction line, this can cause cavitations.
Leakage of oil can result in the pump running dry on oil and overheating the internal transmissions.
Contact the manufacturer in order to prevent irreparable damage.
