power on/off
Once a fully aerated battery is in place (see page 5), to power on
your Vario Revolutions, press and hold the multifunction button
until you hear ‘Welcome to Vario’ and then release. To power off,
press and hold the multifunction button until you hear ‘Goodbye’
and then release.
Your Revolutions are an effective hearing protection device
without a battery, but you will lose ambient awareness.
Changing programs
When on, the program will cycle to the next in the sequence each
time you press the multifunction button.
Autosave
When you turn on your Revolutions they will start up in the last
program used.
Intelligent battery management
Your Vario Revolutions will automatically go to sleep after a preset
period, or if there is an absence of harmful noise. You will hear
‘Sleep in two minutes’ before your Revolutions enter sleep mode.
Pressing the multifunction button when you hear this warning
will reset the timer and delay sleep mode.
If sleep mode is entered, wake up your Revolutions by pressing
and holding the multifunction button until you hear ‘Welcome to
Vario’ and then release.
Batteries
Your Vario Revolutions use size 312 zinc air hearing aid batteries.
These are available online and on the high street, or can be
purchased at www.variohearables.com.
Battery life
Each battery, if correctly aerated, should exceed 120 hours of
continuous use.
Zinc air batteries degrade over time, regardless of use, and so will
be active for no more than 45 days after removal of the protective
tab. Leaking batteries can irreversibly damage your Revolutions
and invalidate your warranty.
Batteries deteriorate faster at low temperatures.

56
Replacing the batteries
Remove the protective tab from the battery.
Allow battery to breathe for two minutes before going any
further. This is very important!
Grip the wings of the battery door. Carefully slide the battery door
out of the module.
Insert the battery into the battery door with the flat side (+) of the
battery facing up. You can use the magnet on the end of the
cleaning brush provided for easy placement.
With the new battery in position, replace the battery door as
shown in the diagrams below.
Cleaning and maintenance
Your silicone ear moulds should be cleaned after every use as a
build up of dirt, wax and skin oil can reduce efficacy, reduce
retention and potentially cause infection.
After removing the Revolution modules, remove any debris or
wax with the cleaning brush provided. Clean the custom silicone
moulds with warm, soapy water and rinse with fresh water. Dry
them with a paper towel. Wipe the Revolution module body with
a damp cloth and sanitise, or use an antibacterial wipe. Do not
immerse in water.
Storage
Always store your Vario Revolutions in the storage case provided
at a temperature between -10°C and 50°C. If storing for longer
than 30 days, remove the batteries from the Revolutions to
prevent damage. Leaking batteries can irreversibly damage your
Revolutions and invalidate your warranty. Batteries deteriorate
faster at low temperatures.

7 8
left and right
Your Vario Revolution modules are interchangeable so you can
swap them from left to right and back again, if you wish. However,
you will struggle if you try swapping your custom silicone moulds
from left ear to right.
Your silicone moulds are marked with an L (left) in blue and R
(right) in red on the reverse to save you the discomfort of trial and
error.
Custom silicone moulds
Your Vario custom silicone moulds are not effective hearing
protection without Vario modules and vice versa. Do not use
them in isolation.

Inserting and removing the module
To insert the module, align the module with the recess in the
silicone mould, with the logo facing out.
Gently press on the logo until you hear the retention points click
into place.
Do not press the multifunction button while inserting the
module.
To remove the module from the silicone mould, support the
bottom of the mould with your index finger and use your thumb
to gently flex the top of the silicone mould backwards.
Carefully remove the exposed module.
Inserting into your ears
We recommend using a little of the comfort gel provided, at least
until you get used to the process. Replacement gel can be
purchased at www.variohearables.com.
Use the applicator in the tube of comfort gel to apply a small
amount to the rear of the moulds. Use a clean fingertip to spread
the gel over the surface of the rear side of the moulds.

9 10
Removing from your ears
Slide your finger behind the helix to release the silicone mould.
Slowly and gently rotate the silicone mould forward towards your
nose. Removing suddenly can damage the eardrum.
Notes on custom silicone moulds
We have crafted your custom silicone moulds to the shape of your
ears. They have been hand finished to ensure optimal comfort,
while providing the best possible seal.
It can take a few days to get used to wearing custom silicone
moulds, so we recommend increasing the amount of time you
wear them over the first few days.
Your ears continue to grow as long as you live, so we recommend
checking the fit after three years.
If you have not already done so, we recommend replacing your
custom silicone mould after five years. They may be incredibly
comfortable, but that doesn’t mean that they are still providing
adequate protection.
Children and young adults may need their plugs replacing in as
little as six months. Revolutions are not suitable for children under
14 years.
Pull your ear up and backwards if necessary.
The easiest way to do this is with the opposite
hand, reaching over the top of your head.
Hold the silicone mould sideways. Place the tip
of the audio canal into your ear with the helix
pointing towards your nose.
Rotate the helix upwards and backwards
against your skin, towards the back of your
head while keeping pressure on the silicone
mould as it slides further into your ear canal.
It is important to check that the helix is sitting
behind the flap of skin at the top of your ear.
Gently pull down on your earlobe and push on
the bottom of the silicone mould below the
module to ensure
that it is sitting
correctly in your ear.
