CAUTION!
When medium-voltage equipment is operating, certain components are live, other parts may be in movement and some may
reach high temperatures. Therefore, the use of this equipment poses electrical, mechanical and thermal risks.
In order to ensure an acceptable level of protection for people and property, and in compliance with applicable environmental
recommendations, Ormazabal designs and manufactures its products according to the principle of integrated safety, based on
the following criteria:
• Elimination of hazards wherever possible.
• Where elimination of hazards is neither technically nor economically feasible, appropriate protection functions are
incorporated in the equipment.
• Communication about remaining risks to facilitate the design of operating procedures which prevent such risks,
training for the personnel in charge of the equipment, and the use of suitable personal protective equipment.
• Use of recyclable materials and establishment of procedures for the disposal of equipment and components so
that once the end of their service lives is reached, they are duly processed in accordance, as far as possible, with the
environmental restrictions established by the competent authorities.
Consequently, the equipment to which the present manual refers complies with the requirements of section 11.2 of Standard
IEC 62271-1. It must therefore only be operated by appropriately qualified and supervised personnel, in accordance with the
requirements of standard EN 50110-1 on the safety of electrical installations and standard EN 50110-2 on activities in or near
electrical installations. Personnel must be fully familiar with the instructions and warnings contained in this manual and in other
recommendations of a more general nature which are applicable to the situation according to current legislation[1].
The above must be carefully observed, as the correct and safe operation of this equipment depends not only on its design but also
on general circumstances which are in general beyond the control and responsibility of the manufacturer. More specifically:
• The equipment must be handled and transported appropriately from the factory to the place of installation.
• All intermediate storage should occur in conditions which do not alter or damage the characteristics of the equipment
or its essential components.
• Service conditions must be compatible with the equipment rating.
• The equipment must be operated strictly in accordance with the instructions given in the manual, and the applicable
operating and safety principles must be clearly understood.
• Maintenance should be performed properly, taking into account the actual service and environmental conditions in
the place of installation.
The manufacturer declines all liability for any significant indirect damages resulting from violation of the guarantee, under any
jurisdiction, including loss of income, stoppages and costs resulting from repair or replacement of parts.
Warranty
The manufacturer guarantees this product against any defect in materials and operation during the contractual period. In the
event that defects are detected, the manufacturer may opt either to repair or replace the equipment. Improper handling of this
equipment and its repair by the user shall constitute a violation of the guarantee.

1. General description
Ormazabal's outdoor cubicle systems, formed by dierent
congurations, are designed following the requirements
set out in IEEE C37.20.9 and CSA C22.2 Nº31-18 standards.
This GI document supplements the general
instructions of the switchgear system of the cubicles,
namely the IG-182 in the case of cgmcosmos, IG-183
in the case of cgm.3, or IG-280 in the case of cgm.800.

Handling and transport
2. Handling and transport
Important: During transport, the switchgear must
be perfectly seated and xed so that it cannot move
about and possibly damage the equipment.
2.1. Lifting equipment
The switchgear must always be kept upright, directly on the
ground or on a pallet, depending on the type of handling
involved.
Outdoor units must be handled using lifting systems with
slings or chains secured to side lifting brackets located at
the top of the enclosure.
The angle of pull must be as vertical as possible (with an
angle greater than 60º from the horizontal).
Handling with a forklift truck is also possible.

2.2. Transport
2.2.1. Road haulage
Transport is carried out on a standard truck or crane truck
platform.
Securing the unit to the truck's platform using slings is
recommended during transport, protecting the corners
with L-shaped proles.
Local regulations must be followed for other road transport
aspects (gauge, maximum authorised weight, etc).
Packaging for road haulage
The outdoor units are supplied from the factory on a pallet
that is larger than the dimensions of the unit. All transport
protection elements must be removed once the unit is
installed, before it is commissioned.
2.2.2. Sea transport
Outdoor cubicles can be transported completely assembled
in an ISO container. The containers recommended for sea
transport are standard dry-van or high cube. In order to
prevent any defects or damage during transport, once the
unit is inside the container, we recommend securing it to
the base with slings tied rmly to the four lifting anchors on
the top part of the enclosure.
Packaging for sea freight
Ormazabal recommends using Cortec VpCI-126 Blue lm
(corrosion inhibitor in vapour phase) or similar to seal
the unit, thus preventing corrosion during sea transport.
Placing the enclosure in dehydrated salt is recommended.
The outdoor cubicles are transported from the factory on
a pallet, with polyurethane corner pieces on top of VpCI
lm or similar. Once the equipment has been installed,
remove all the protection and transport elements before
commissioning.

Storage
3. Storage
If it needs to be stored, the equipment must be placed on
dry ground or on top of damp-proof insulating material, still
in its original packaging.
After prolonged storage, clean all the insulating parts
carefully before commissioning the equipment. The
enclosure must be cleaned with a clean, dry lint-free cloth.
Storing INDOORS in the following conditions is reco-
mmended:
1. Ambient air temperature must not exceed 40 °C and
its average value, measured over a period of 24 hours,
must not exceed 35 °C.
2. The ambient air temperature must not drop below
- 30 °C.There are also cubicles with storage temperature
up to - 40 °C.
3. The switchgear must be protected from direct solar
radiation.
4. Altitude, both in transport and in storage, must not
exceed 2000 m.
5. The ambient air must not have any signicant
contamination from dust, smoke, corrosive and/or
inammable gases, vapours or salt.
6. The switchgear must be protected from the rain, and
the humidity conditions must be as follows:
a. the average relative humidity value, measured over
a period of 24 hours, must not exceed 95 %.
b. the average water vapour pressure value, measured
over a period of 24 hours, must not exceed 2.2 kPa.
c. the average relative humidity value, measured over
a period of one month, must not exceed 90 %.
d. the average water vapour pressure value, measured
over a period of one month, must not exceed
1.8 kPa.
7. During transport, vibrations caused by external factors
or seismic movements must be insignicant.
Any other conditions must be notied beforehand,
since the equipment must be factory-adjusted to
atmospheric pressure at the destination.
If this is not the case, the manometer needle may
indicate an incorrect value, even if the equipment's
internal pressure is correct.

4. Installation
4.1. Unpacking the equipment
It is advisable to cut the cellophane at the rear of the cubicle or at the corner to avoid scratching the surface.
The outdoor cubicles are supplied protected in plastic as
standard.
On receiving the equipment, check that the goods supplied
correspond to the order and associated documentation. If
this is not the case, contact Ormazabal immediately.
The disassembly process for the equipment is as follows:
1. Use a blade, cutter or similar tool to cut the cellophane
the cubicle is wrapped in[2].
2. Completely remove the cellophane.
3. Detach the white polystyrene corner pieces.
4. Unscrew the xings between the base and the pallet.
5. Remove the pallet, handling the cubicle as indicated in
section 2.1.
6. Dispose of any waste in an environmentally friendly
manner.
It is advisable to make a visual inspection of the equipment
to check whether it has suered any damage in transit. If
damaged, contact Ormazabal immediately.
4.2. Fastening outdoor cubicles to the floor
To install outdoor cubicles with gas output to trench, follow
the procedure for fastening to the oor described in the
corresponding GI document.
Furthermore, we recommend sealing the outer perimeter
of the enclosure and bottom front cable compartment
access cover using a single-sided adhesive cellular foam
seal, 30 mm (1,18 inch) wide and 5 mm (0,197 inch) thick,
made of EPDM material (Ormazabal reference: 440142).

Installation
Fastening outdoor cubicles with upwards gas output
to the floor / Fastening outdoor cubicles with upwards
gas output to the floor and cables 45° to the skid
Outdoor cubicles with upwards gas output must be
anchored to the oor of the facility in place at least in four
points prepared for this purpose in the base of the relief
duct. Take the following dimensions and diagrams into
account for anchoring. Ormazabal recommend to use for
anchoring M12 (8.8) hexagonal head screw DIN 933 plus
wide ange at washer DIN 9021, galvanized steel coated
or similar.

4.3. Earthing the equipment
In outdoor cubicles, connect the earting bar inside the
cable compartment. Follow instructions of the GI general
instructions of the switchgear system installed.
This GI document supplements the general
instructions of the switchgear system of the cubicles,
namely the IG-182 in the case of cgmcosmos, IG-183
in the case of cgm.3, or IG-280 in the case of cgm.800.

5. Recommended sequence of operations
5.1. Access to the driving mechanism and cable compartment
Proceed as follows to access the cubicle cable compartment
and driving mechanism:
1. Turn both handles 90° with the key provided.

Recommended sequence of operations
2. Release the two bolts at the top and bottom of the
right-hand door.

3. Remove the 4 bolts M10x50 DIN-7380 ZNT (ref.: 102928)
from the bottom cover. The tightening torque of
the screws that hold the bottom cover is 3 Nm for
enclosures manufactured before October 2022 and 6
Nm for later enclosures.

5.2. Operations sequence for replacing cubicles on site
The following sequence describes the operations to be
followed for dismantling and removing the external
enclosure.
1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in the above sequence for access to
the driving mechanisms and cable compartment.
2. Remove the two cable compartment covers from
the two side cubicles. To do this, place the cubicle in
earthing position following the instructions of the
corresponding GI document.
In the case of cgmcosmos cubicles, IG-078: cgm.3,
IG-136; cgm.800, IG-284.

Recommended sequence of operations
3. From inside the cable compartment, unscrew the
12 DIN933M8 hex bolts (6 on each side) that secure the
cubicles to the external enclosure.
Tool: 13 open-end wrench.
If a relief duct is tted, also unscrew the 12 M8 bolts
(DIN 933) for anchoring the assembly to the relief duct,
located at the bottom rear.

4. Remove the external enclosure, lifting it around 100
mm, and withdraw toward the rear section using slings
or chains secured to the side lifting brackets at the top
of the enclosure. The angle of pull must be as vertical
as possible (with an angle greater than 60º from the
horizontal).
Maximum weight of the enclosure: 300 kg.

6. Maintenance
In order to oer an outdoor solution, Ormazabal's cubicles
are tted with a galvanised sheet metal enclosure painted
in RAL 7035 polyester powder for outdoors, with corrosion
category C5, according to Standard ISO 12944-2, and
high durability (H), according to standard ISO 12944-1. It
is important to stress that, as indicated in this Standard,
durability is not a warranty period, but rather a technical
consideration that helps establish a maintenance period.

6.1. Maintenance and cleaning
6.1.1. General aspects
The switchgear's cleaning and maintenance frequency
depends to a large extent on the location of the facility. Due
to their knowledge of the installation, maintenance sta
are the most qualied to establish time intervals between
maintenance operations.
Standard ISO 12944 must be consulted as a reference
to establish the maintenance periods.
