1.2 What Is a V-Touch AFAD Touchscreen Controller
The V-Touch AFAD touchscreen controller is a compact microcomputer using an LCD touchscreen
that displays in English, French or Spanish (user's choice). The touchscreen controller provides access
to all operations and functions of the V-Touch AFAD unit, according to the limitations of their user
profile.
1.3 Using the V-Touch AFAD Touchscreen Controller
Before using the V-Touch AFAD, the Ver-Mac units must be installed on the job site. Refer to the
Operation, Safety and Maintenance Manual of your units by scanning the corresponding QR code
sticker to display it directly on your electronic device.
Tap the icons on the screen with your fingertip or use a soft stylus-like instrument such as the eraser

3.1 Activation
You can activate Flagger-Mac units in Solo mode or in Duo Radio mode.
Your unit has been associated with its wireless remote control at the factory. As soon as you activate
the V-Touch in operation mode ( ), the remote control can be used, in solo mode, to operate a
single automated flagger assistance device.
In duo mode, a single operator controls two devices from a single remote.
For more information about the wireless remote control, see section 4.4.1 Wireless Remote Control.
Before activating your units in Duo Radio mode, you must make sure the two units are equipped with
the Radio option, that this option is activated, and that two units are paired. For more information,
see section 3.4 Pairing the AFAD Units.
To start signaling operation:
1 Tap Play ( ) and activate the operation mode on the V-Touch AFAD touchscreen controller.
The Activate Flagging Type dialog is displayed.
2 Tap Solo or Duo Radio to choose your operation mode.
Once the activation is done, the wireless remote is operational.

3.2 Solo Mode
In Solo mode, a flagger only controls the gate, or gates, associated with its remote control. In this
scenario, 2 AFADs cannot communicate with each other, which implies that there is no anti-conflict
mechanism activated.
It is the only mode that can be used to operate Flagger-Mac units that are not equipped with the
Radio option.
However, the Solo mode can also be used with paired automated flagger assistance devices.

immediately and the light turns flashing yellow.
To lower the gate, push the Lower Gate button ( ). The yellow light behaves the same
as a normal traffic light that is flashing, then turns solid before turning red; then the gate
lowers. This, to ensure the greatest possible safety for motorists and flaggers.
If the gate will not open nor close, please refer to the Troubleshooting section of this manual.
3.3 Duo Radio Mode
Duo Radio mode can be activated only on automated flagger assistance devices (AFAD) that are
equipped with the Radio option.
This mode allows one flagger to control both AFADs through a single remote control.

Before using the Duo Radio mode, the two AFAD units must be paired with the wireless remote
control (see 3.4 Pairing the AFAD Units).
WARNING
Make sure there is nothing under the gate. If there is an object under the
gate, the gate will keep going down and might cause injuries or material
damage before stopping.
