SCiO Cup Safety and Regulatory Manual
Read this documentation before using SCiO Cup.
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS:
You alone are responsible for how you use your SCiO Cup
Molecular Sensor (SCiO Cup Cup) and any consequences of its
use. You must always switch off your SCiO Cup whenever the
use of an electronic or Bluetooth enabled device is
prohibited. Use of your SCiO Cup is subject to the safety
measures designed to protect users and their environment.
The battery in your SCiO Cup is NOT fully charged when
shipped. Your warranty is INVALIDATED if you disassemble or
attempt to disassemble the SCiO Cup in any manner.
IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION AND SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS:
When using this product, the safety precautions detailed in
this document must be followed. Failure to follow the
documented safety precautions can result in injury, electric
shock, fire and equipment damage.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY:
SCiO Cup Molecular Sensor is designed to be charged ONLY
with the USB charging cable provided. Other usage or charging
attempts may be dangerous and will invalidate any warranty,
and can prevent your ability to operate this product. Caution:
Connecting to improperly grounded equipment can result in
an electrical shock to your device. This product is provided
with a USB charging cable to connect directly to a desktop or
notebook computer. Be sure your computer is properly
grounded (earthed) before connecting this product to your
computer.
BATTERY PACKS:

This product contains a Lithium Polymer battery pack. There is
a risk of fire or burns if the battery pack is handled or accessed.
Do not attempt to open or service the battery pack. Do NOT
attempt to disassemble, crush, puncture, short external
contacts and/or circuits, dispose of in fire or water. Do not
charge the device at temperatures beyond 0-35°C (32-95°F).
Battery performance will be affected is the temperature is
below 0°C (32°F) even if the battery is fully charged. The SCiO
Cup Battery Pack is not user replaceable. The Battery Pack can
only be replaced by an authorized Verifood service provider.
Read the following information carefully to ensure ideal
performance of your SCiO Cup Molecular Sensor:
ENVIRONMENTAL RESTRICTIONS:
•Do not use this device in gas stations, fuel depots, chemical
plants, or where blasting operations are in progress or in
potentially explosive atmospheres.
•Hearing Aids (Bluetooth can interfere with some hearing
aids)
•Use only the cables and other parts supplied with in this
package to connect SCiO Cup Sensor to any other
equipment. Using any parts other than those supplied with
your SCiO Cup may damage the SCiO Cup and/or the other
equipment.
•Do not expose the SCiO Cup to water or extreme conditions
(heat, cold, dust) as it may malfunction or cease to work as
designed
•Do not attempt to disassemble or repair your SCiO Cup
yourself. Disassembly of your SCiO Cup unit voids the limited
warranty and may result in damage and/or physical harm.
•Keep SCiO Cup and its accessories out of the reach of
children at all times.
•The SCiO Cup optical head is fragile and any type of strong
impact will damage the device and void the limited warranty.
•The SCiO Cup includes a borosilicate glass dome inside. While
the glass is resistant it might break due to strong mechanical
impact. Handle the cup with care. If the glass dome brakes,
do not attempt to fix the cup or touch it. The SCiO Cup is not
functional once the dome is damaged.
•Do not paint or decorate your SCiO Cup or its
•accessories.
•Do not use chemicals, harsh solvents, chemical solvents or
aerosols to clean the device or its accessories.
•Clean the glass dome of the SCiO Cup with a soft dry cloth, or
with cloth damped with water, soap or ethanol according to
type of dirt to remove
•Do not rapidly change the ambient air temperature around
the device as it may cause internal condensation which will
damage the device and void the limited warranty.
•FCC Compliance. This product complies with all applicable
FCC regulations.
•Disposal. If it becomes necessary to dispose of your SCiO Cup
Sensor, do so in a responsible and legal manner according to
the applicable laws and regulations of your country. NEVER
dispose of a SCiO Cup Sensor via incineration or fire as the
device may explode or leak.
•Use sensibly. Use your SCiO Cup Sensor only in the normal
manner as described in the product documentation available

Warranty Statement and Disclaimer
Subject to the terms and conditions set forth herein, Verifood warrants the SCiO Cup
Molecular Sensor (the “Product”) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship
for a period of one year following the receipt of the Product by the original purchaser or
recipient. Complete details of the warranty and return procedures are available at
Verifood’ Internet website at: consumerphysics.com (the “Limited Warranty”). Any
warranty set forth herein is subject to all procedures and exclusions set forth in the
Limited Warranty. The Limited Warranty granted by Verifood may vary by jurisdiction.
In the event the Product does not comply with the applicable warranty, you may contact
Verifood for a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number according to the
procedures set forth in the website of the Limited Warranty. If Verifood confirms that
the Product does not comply with the applicable warranty, it will either replace or repair
the Product according to the terms and conditions set forth therein. All returns of
Products that do not comply with the applicable warranty must comply with all terms
and conditions set forth on the website of the Limited Warranty.
THE FOREGOING WARRANTY IS THE SOLE WARRANTY PROVIDED BY
VERIFOOD IN RESPECT OF THE PRODUCTS. EXCEPT AS SET
FORTH EXPRESSLY HEREIN, THE PRODUCT AND ALL INFORMATION
HEREIN IS PROVIDED “AS-IS”. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE
LAW, VERIFOOD DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED
AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY
IMPLIED OR STATUTORY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT IN RESPECT OF THE PRODUCT
AND ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED HEREIN. Some
jurisdictions do not allow the disclaimer of certain warranties, and so the foregoing
disclaimer may not apply to you. VERIFOOD PROVIDES NO WARRANTY IN RESPECT OF THE
ACCURACY OF ANY DATA OR INFORMATION GENERATED BY THE PRODUCT. ALL USE OF
SUCH DATA AND INFORMATION IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
No employee or representative of Verifood or any third party is authorized to make any
modification, extension or addition to the express warranty set forth herein. If any term
of the warranty set forth herein is held to be illegal or unenforceable, the remaining
terms of the warranty will remain in full force and effect, and the illegal or
unenforceable term shall be interpreted as necessary to give it maximum effect under
applicable law.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY USE OF THE PRODUCT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. TO THE
MAXIMUM
EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, VERIFOOD
(AND ITS AFFILIATES, RESELLERS AND DISTRIBUTORS) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU
UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY FOR ANY INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES THAT
MAY BE INCURRED BY YOU IN CONNECTION WITH THE PRODUCT OR THE
USE THEREOF, OR ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED HEREIN, INCLUDING
WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY LOSS OF OPPORTUNITY, LOSS OF PROFITS
OR LOSS OF DATA, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER VERIFOOD
(OR ITS AFFILIATES, RESELLERS AND DISTRIBUTORS) WERE ADVISED

Function button indications:
1. Blue - flashing slowly - waiting for connection
2. Blue - flashing rapidly –just connected / disconnected /
shut down
3. Blue - constantly on - connected and ready to scan
4. White - scanning/analyzing/calibrating
5. Orange - flashing slowly- pending calibration
6. Red - low battery
Get Started
1. Charge SCiO Cup for 3 hours or until the charge
status LED glows green
2. Download the app to your smartphone from the App
Store/Google Play. Search for SCiO
3. Launch the app and log in using the credentials you
received
4. Follow the in-app instructions to connect to your SCiO
Cup
Scan
•Launch the app
•Select the relevant applet from the home screen
•Fill the cup with the relevant material
oMake sure the cup is completely empty
and free of leftovers from last scans
oIt is recommended to fill the cup up to the
cup surface
•Press the function button or click “Scan” in the app to
see results
oHold the cup steady when scanning
Storage instructions: Please make sure the cup is stored
in its case to prevent exposure of the sensor to direct
sunlight for long periods of time
Section 4: Common errors
5. “Low Signal, Please rescan” - Your battery is probably
empty. Connect SCiO cup to electric supply, you can
continue to scan during charging.
6. "Too Bright, Please rescan" - Place the lid on the cup
and rescan.
7. “Material not recognized” - make sure that you are
using the correct applet and that the material in the
test is within the relevant ranges (this can be found on
the applet information screen).
