2 Boiler usage and advantages
The cast-iron sectional gas boiler VIADRUS GARDE G42 ECO (hereunder referred as in general G42 ECO) equipped with an atmospheric
burner is destined for combustion of low-pressure natural gas. The boiler is being produced in design B11BS, it means it is equipped with a
safety device for prevention of flue-gas reverse-motion. A two-sections and three-sections design is suitable for reconstruction of heat sources
in separate dwelling units, for small accommodation and recreation facilities. Bigger sizes comply with requirements for heating of single-family
houses, shops, schools, etc.
The boiler is manufactured as a warm-water boiler with forced circulation and work overpressure up to 400 kPa (4 bar). Before dispatching, it is
tested for tightness with testing overpressure of 800 kPa (8 bar); it complies with tests of insulating and transition resistance.
In case of requirement for preferential heating of domestic hot water, you may separately order VIADRUS OV 100 L stationary heater, the
design of which complies with the G42 ECO boiler.
The electric connection of the boiler is adapted for connection of a stack heater of domestic hot water with provision of its preferential heating.
Thanks to the top-quality structure of its cast-iron sections, the low-temperature cast-iron boiler prevents creation of condensate and, by this, a
danger of low-temperature corrosion.
The heat-delivery (convective) surfaces of the boiler drum reach high usage of heat that is contained in flue gases. Due to the use of high-
quality cast iron, the boiler is able to transfer fully the received heat to heating water uniformly in all parts of the boiler.
There is no necessity to maintain heating water at temperature above 50 °C because no damage due to low-temperature corrosion arise in this
boiler at temperatures of return water about 30 °C.
While designing the boiler, we use in full range empiric knowledge of boilers operation within our climatic conditions, whereas, especially in the
transition time of the heating period, boilers are often operated with low temperature of heating water. On one hand, such operating increases
boiler efficiency, but on the other hand, it however increases a risk of low-temperature corrosion of the heat-exchanger. But even such
economic operation does not cause this negative phenomenon.

Advantages of the boiler:
1. High operational reliability and long service life due to the use of high-quality grey cast iron with lamellar graphite.
2. The top-quality structure of the cast-iron sections with a decreased weight in comparison to the previous versions prevents creation of
condensate and, by this, a danger of low-temperature corrosion as well.
3. Economic low-temperature operation without occurrence of condensate.
4. High effectiveness up to 93 %.
5. Reliability of regulation and safety elements.
6. Equipping with a flue gases reverse flow safety device that in case of insufficient chimney draught switches-off the boiler; it helps to
increase the boiler safety.
7. A possibility of connection of some of superior regulations on the base of the customer's requirements to the level of heat comfort.
8. Two-stage working operation of the boiler with help of the HIGH-LOW coil.
9. Besides of that, VIADRUS GARDE G42 ECO boilers are combined with a possibility of connection of VIADRUS
OV 100 L stationary water heater.
10. Low content of harmful substances in flue gases are far lower than the value specified in Directive of the Ministry of Environment No. 05-
97 "Ecologically friendly product" and meets the requirements of the strictest European norms, for example, even the border of "Blue
angel".
11. A high combustion chamber enables clean flame combustion.
12. In case of the use of the pump thermostat, monitoring of the minimum temperature of boiler water is ensured.
13. Simple manipulation and maintenance. The boiler drum can be easily mechanically cleaned-up with help of an attached brush.
14. In case of equipping with a withdrawal flue-gas fan, which enables exhaust of flue gases to the outdoor space directly through the
external wall, the boiler can be installed into a premise where there is no possibility to connect the boiler to a chimney.

4 Boiler structure
The main part of the boiler is a cast-iron sectional boiler drum made of grey cast iron according to ČSN EN 1561.
The boiler design meets the requirements for firmness according to ČSN 07 0240 and ČSN EN 297.
The boiler power is given by the number of sections. Separate sections are connected by means of pressed-on insertions 47 mm (length - 36
mm, angle - 1°45") and fixed with help of anchoring bolts, which creates a combustion chamber, a convective surface and inside of the sections
- a water volume of the boiler. The design of the convective surface enables mechanical cleaning-up of the boiler drum with the attached brush.
The input and the input of heating water in the rear part is equipped with 1" pipes. A discharge valve is placed on the return water connection.
At installation, it is necessary to mount an air-relief valve on the output of heating water that is a part of standard delivery. The entire boiler
drum is insulated with health harmlessness mineral insulation that decreases losses by heat transmission into the environment.
A built-in draught diverter with an orifice for chimney pipe installation is fixed to the upper part of the boiler drum with help of bolts. The
draught diverter is equipped with a demountable cover for cleaning-up.
The boiler drum is installed on a steel support which closes the burner space from the bottom side. It contains a protective cover from anti-
corrosion sheet-metal steel and thermal insulation.
The steel cladding of the boiler is painted with high-quality komaxit painting.
The atmospheric burner consisted of low-emission oval-shaped burner pipes of new type is made of anti-corrosion steel with high operation
life-time. Particular pipes are fixed on the burner board with help of four bolts. For 2- and 3-section versions of the boiler, VI OVO 1G burner
pipes are used and for 4- and 5-sections versions - VI OVO 1E burner pipes. The pipes only differ from each other by the perforation width. As
a scale for evaluation of ecological and economical of heat production, there are used emission norms, directives, and regulations. The burner
pipes represent a modern special burner system that:
-significantly save the environment;
-emission values are significantly lower than those very strict ones specified by directive of Ministry of Environment of Czech Republic No.
05/97 for "Ecologically friendly product with requirements for granting of trademark" as well as with requirements of the border of "Blue
angel".
A progressive structure of the burner enables to fully close the combustion chamber of the boiler; whole air needed for combustion is brought
into the burner pipes through diffusers. A gas distributor with gas nozzles is fixed to the burner board.
The stationary low-temperature boiler is offered with a safety and control automatics with an ignition pilot burner.

5 Regulation
5.1 Control, safety and regulation elements
The boiler is supplied without a superior regulation and is equipped with a control panel with control, safety and regulation elements.
The manufacturer does not recommend operation of the boiler without regulation. A version without regulation is determined for customers who
have their own system for boiler control.
The electric panel of the boiler is equipped with the following elements:
1 – electric panel;
2 – main switch with signalling;
3 - signalling of temperature exceeding (safety thermostat and flue gases reverse flow safety device);
unblocking of automatics failure;
4 – switch of low / nominal stage of the boiler;
5 – line fuse of 2.5 A;
6 – boiler thermostat;
7 – thermo-manometer;
8 – electric panel bracket;
9 – safety flue-gases thermostat;
10 – safety operational thermostat;
11 – bushing with diameter of 17;
12 – bushing with diameter of 22.
Unblocking of the safety thermostats is placed in the bottom part of the bracket of the electric panel (can be unblocked after removal of
the front part of the cladding).
- unblocking of the safety thermostat (for opened systems, please leave the factory settings, i.e. 97 °C, for closed systems with a pressure
expansion tank, it may be even set up to 105 °C);
- unblocking of the flue gases reverse flow safety device (it is set at 75 °C);
- boiler thermostat (the range is 0 – 85 °C, the recommended setting is 85 °C);
- line fuse of 2.5 A;
The sensor of the flue gases reverse flow safety device, placed in the horizontal draught diverter, will switch-off boiler in case of insufficient flue
gases withdrawal. Sensors of the safety and boiler thermostats (eventually, the pump thermostat) of the thermometer are placed in the well of
the left outer section, and the back-pressure valve that is placed in the upper part of the right outer section.
The boiler is equipped (on customer's request) with one of the offered gas valves:
1. HONEYWELL VK 4100 Q 2003B or VK 4100 P 2004 TWO-STAGE COMBINED ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE EQUIPPED WITH A
HIGH-LOW COIL (fig. No. 29)
–enables automatic operation of the boiler in two-stage operation mode (nominal power - low power);
–automatic switching-over between both stages of power is provided by the outdoor thermostat Rego typ 95001;
–boilers equipped with this gas valve can be equipped with a programmable regulator Honeywell CM 707 or with a superior regulation.
2. HONEYWELL VK 4100 A 1002 ONE-STAGE COMBINED ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE (fig. No. 31)
–the boiler can be operated with only a power that can be firmly set according to the table No. 3 (the setting can be only performed by a
service organization trained by the manufacturer);
–enables connection of regulation - a programmable regulator Honeywell CM 707 or a superior regulation.
S 4565 BF 1088 or S 4565 BF 1112 automatics, with a light failure signalling and an unblocking button is placed on the body of VK 4100Q
2003B or VK 4100A 1002 gas valves.
3. SIT SIGMA 843 TWO-STAGE ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE EQUIPPED WITH A HIGH-LOW COIL (fig. No. 30)
–enables automatic operation of the boiler in two-stage operation mode (nominal power - low power);
–automatic switching-over between both stages of power is provided by the Rego outdoor thermostat of 95001 type;
–boilers equipped with this gas valve can be equipped with Honeywell CM 707 programmable regulator or with a superior regulation.
SIT 537 automatics are placed on SIT Sigma 843 gas valve.

Polidoro ignition pilot burner
Ignition and monitoring of burner operation is carried out with help of an ignition pilot burner. In case of requirement for ignition of the main
burner, after the lapse of the waiting time Tw= 1, the built-in igniter will be switched-on and the gas valve of the ignition pilot burner will be
opened. The igniting spark will ignite the ignition pilot burner, and its flame is read by the flame sensor. After stabilization of the ignition pilot
burner flame, ignition will be stopped and the main valve for gas supply to the main burner will be opened. But if the ignition pilot burner is not
combusted during the safety time Ts= 55 s (Ts= 25 s), (SIT Ts= 60 s), then the blocking automatics will be connected. If flame is extinguished
during normal operation, the igniting automatics will repeat the igniting cycle.
The ignition pilot burner is being switched-off together with the main burner.

6 Circulating pumps
The system can be equipped with a low-energy pump, for example, Wilo Yonos Para RS 15/7,5. Operation of the pump is controlled in
accordance with electric connection of the boiler with the chosen regulation.
1. The standard fulfillment of the boiler (without regulation) - after the boiler is switched-on with help of the main switch, the circulating pump
is in operation (provided the pump thermostat is not connected).
2. In case of equipping the boiler with Honeywell CM 707 programmable regulator - the pump is controlled by the room thermostat.
3. In case of connecting a water stack heater - the pump is controlled by the heater thermostat; and after its switching-off, the controlling
function is being transferred to the room thermostat.
4. In case of equipping the boiler with an equitherm regulator - the pump operation is controlled according to the regulator program.

The specified times of water heating and flow rates are only valid in case that a Grundfos pump is connected into the system and its rmp switch
is in the position 3 (corresponds to the flow rate of 650 l/hour). As far as the pump is operated with lower rpm value (i.e. with lower supply rate),
the heating time of domestic hot water will be longer.
***) Important warning!
Set the heater thermostat at the maximum temperature of 60 °C (remark: Regulations in Czech Republic do not allow to distribute water at
temperature higher than 60 °C).
Once a week, set the heater thermostat at the temperature of 65°C to avoid the creation of legionella (bacillary bacteria originating in water.
They die between 60 and 65 °C temperature within several minutes and at 70 °C temperature they die within several seconds.).
7.2 Heater construction
To the VIADRUS GARDE G42 ECO boiler, you can also order VIADRUS OV 100 L separate stack heater for a preferential domestic hot water
preparation. The reservoir is thermally insulated with polyurethane and its internal surface is coated by double enameled layer which
guarantees a long service life. The operation and installation manual is enclosed to the heater.
The boiler standard electric connection is adjusted to Honeywell V 4044 F three-way valve connection ensuring the domestic hot water
preferential heating. The thermostat is a part of the heater.
