1. The appliance should always be placed
on a firm, flat, waterproof surface at least
four feet away from bedside, five inches
from the wall and out of reach of patient,
children and pets. Be sure the appliance
is in a stable position and the power
cord is away from heated surfaces and
out of the way to prevent the humidifier
from being tipped over.
2. The appliance should not be left
unattended in a closed room since
air could become saturated and leave
condensation on walls and furniture.
Leave room door partly open. Do not
aim mist output grille directly at children,
walls or furniture.
3. Before using the appliance, extend
the cord and inspect for any signs of
damage. Do not use the unit if the cord
has been damaged.
4. The appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other) as a safety
feature. This plug will fit into a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not
fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this
safety feature.
5. To avoid fire or shock hazard, plug
the appliance directly into a 120V AC
electrical outlet.
6. The appliance should always be
unplugged and emptied when not
in operation or while being cleaned.
Unplug humidifier before moving.
Do not move or tilt humidifier while it
is in operation. Plug and unplug unit
with dry hands. Never pull by cord.
7. Do not operate the appliance without
water. Unplug when tank is empty.
8. Caution: To avoid the risk of fire,
shock or personal injury, do not use an
extension cord.
9. Appliance requires regular cleaning.
Refer to and follow cleaning instructions.
10. Do not operate outdoors; this appliance
is intended for indoor use.
11. Do not cover or insert objects into any
openings on the unit.
12. Do not attempt to repair or adjust any
electrical or mechanical functions on
this appliance. Doing so will void your
warranty.
13. Do not add any medications (e.g. Kaz
Inhalant or Vick VapoSteam®) into
Nozzle, Base, Reservoir or Water Tank.

The Vick Cool Mist Humidifier produces a cool mist through cyclone technology. The
motor-driven impeller draws up water through a pickup tube. Centrifugal force throws the
water through a screen into the vortex chamber, breaking up the water into a superfine, cool
mist restoring healthy humidity levels to dry indoor air.

The Air-Cleaning DynaFilter®
The Vick Cool Mist Humidifier includes the exclusive Protec Air Cleaning
DynaFilter PK14-3W.
Under normal environmental conditions, the filter cartridge should
be replaced every two months. Replacement time will vary depending
upon the concentration of pollutants in the air. If you notice heavy dirt
accumulation on the filter or if the humidifier output is significantly
reduced, it’s time to change to a new DynaFilter!
Protec DynaFilter PK14-3W cartridges are available at leading pharmacies
and drug departments.
Operating Instructions
1. CAUTION: UNRAVEL CORD BEFORE USE.Failure to do so could cause overheating and
possible fire hazard.
Always disconnect cord at wall plug before removing the Top Housing or when humidifier is
not in use.
2. INSERT DynaFilter CARTRIDGE. Simply remove the outer protective wrap and insert the DynaFilter
cartridge into the recess of the Top Housing (WHITE FILTER OUT).
Inspect used DynaFilters. If you notice heavy dirt accumulation, it’s time to replace the DynaFilter.
3. PLACE HUMIDIFIER IN A SAFE POSITION on floor, table or other firm, FLAT and LEVEL surface.
Protect rug, floor or furniture by placing unit on a waterproof non-conducting pad or mat for
protection against inadvertent spillage. Do not place any object over the humidifier; it could
block air openings.
Cord should be out-of-the-way, where it cannot be pulled or stepped on.
When used therapeutically, the humidifier should be placed at least 4 feet from bedside and out
of the reach of children.
4. FILL CAREFULLY. The exclusive Kaz FillChannel™ permits convenient filling without removing
the Top Housing. Pour cool tap water into FillChannel. Fill until water level reaches Water Level
Indicator on the front of bowl.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT OVERFILL, as this will cause water spillage and possible damage to
floors or furniture.
5. PLUG IN HUMIDIFIER. Plug power cord into 110-120 volts AC outlet.
CAUTION: DO NOT PLUG IN THE CORD WITH WET HANDS; ELECTRIC SHOCK COULD RESULT.
This product has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a safety feature.
The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit properly into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature.
6. IMPORTANT: To maintain proper operation of your humidifier, be sure to follow Care and
Cleaning instructions.
Care and Cleaning
Tap water will contain pollutants and minerals (scale) that can deposit on the inner surfaces of
the humidifier. Such scale can accelerate the growth of microorganisms and it is important that
periodic cleaning is performed as outlined below. More frequent cleaning may be necessary if
you notice a heavy build-up of scale.
Inspect the DynaFilter
Remove and inspect the DynaFilter cartridge for dirt and dust accumulation. If you notice heavy
accumulation, the filter needs to be replaced. If filter is not changed regularly, dust and other
pollutants will clog the filter, impair air flow, reduce the efficiency of the humidifier and may
damage the motor.
Daily Maintenance
1. Unplug cord from electrical outlet.
2. To remove top housing turn locking screw counterclockwise
and lift (Fig. A). Place top housing upside down on a flat surface.
Use lift tabs on both sides of Top Housing to remove. Do not set
down on the Pickup Tube. Rinse Base, wipe clean, and dry with a
clean cloth or paper towel.
3. Wipe exterior surfaces of the Top Housing with a soft, dry cloth.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE WATER TO CLEAN THE TOP
HOUSING. ELECTRIC SHOCK MAY RESULT OR HUMIDIFIER MAY
BE DAMAGED. DO NOT IMMERSE TOP HOUSING IN WATER.
4. To reassemble, align locking screw with hole in tank. Turn screw
clockwise to tighten (Fig. B). NOTE: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN
SCREW. Humidifier is now ready for use.
Weekly Maintenance-Removing Scale
1. Unplug cord from electrical outlet.
2. To remove top housing turn locking screw counterclockwise and
lift. Place top housing upside down on a flat surface (Fig. A). Do not
set down on the Pickup Tube.
3. Empty any remaining water from Base.
4. Carefully loosen the Pickup Tube from the housing by holding the Disk
and rotating the Pickup Tube counterclockwise in the direction of the
“OFF” arrow located at the base of the Pickup Tube (Fig. C).
5. Soak Pickup Tube in undiluted white vinegar. Let stand for 20 minutes.
6. Dampen a soft, clean cloth or sponge with undiluted white vinegar and
wipe out Base, Pickup Tube and walls around the Pickup Tube.
CAUTION: DO NOT use soap, detergents or abrasive cleaners.
7. Rinse Pickup Tube and Base thoroughly in clean, warm water until
scale particles are removed.
8. Wipe exterior surfaces of the Top Housing with a soft, dry cloth.
DO NOT IMMERSE OR SPRAY WATER ON THE TOP HOUSING.
You are now ready to disinfect the base.

Disinfecting the Base
1. Fill Base with one teaspoon of household bleach in 1 gallon of water.
Place the Pickup Tube in the Base and let remain for 20 minutes. Stir
every few minutes to insure that all surfaces are coated.
2. Empty Base after 20 minutes. Thoroughly rinse the Base and Pickup
Tube with water until bleach smell is gone. Dry with clean cloth or
paper towel.
3. Wipe all exterior surfaces of the Top Housing with a soft, dry cloth.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO IMMERSE OR SPRAY WATER ON THE TOP
HOUSING. ELECTRIC SHOCK MAY RESULT OR HUMIDIFIER MAY
BE DAMAGED.
4. Carefully re-attach Pickup Tube by inserting the prongs into the slots
in the Disk. While holding the Disk steady, rotate the Pickup Tube
clockwise in the direction of the “ON” arrow located at the base of the
Pickup Tube (Fig. D).
5. To replace the Top Housing on Base, align locking screw with hole
in tank, turn screw clockwise to tighten (Fig. B). NOTE: DO NOT OVER
TIGHTEN SCREW. Humidifier is now ready for use.
END OF SEASON MAINTENANCE OR WHEN HUMIDIFIER WILL NOT BE
IN USE FOR AT LEAST ONE WEEK
1. Clean and dry the humidifier thoroughly as per the Weekly Maintenance instructions above.
2. Store in a cool, dry location. Do not STORE WITH WATER INSIDE THE BASE.

Troubleshooting
If the unit does not operate:
• Check that plug is fully inserted into wall outlet.
• Check airflow. Are there any obstructions preventing airflow?
• The motor contains a temperature-limiting fuse. If the motor overheats, the fuse will trip
and shut off the motor. Unplug the unit and contact the Kaz distributor in your area. Do not
attempt to repair the motor yourself.
If you do not obtain enough humidity:
• BECAUSE OF BREAK-IN CHARACTERISTICS, MAXIMUM OUTPUT WILL NOT BE REACHED
UNTIL THE UNIT HAS BEEN USED SEVERAL TIMES.
• If the air in the room is extremely dry, there will be greater absorption of the vapor and faster
depletion of the water reservoir. As the humidity increases, output will decrease and adding of
water will be required less frequently. This variation is normal.
• Under certain conditions the moisture output may not be visible. It is operating properly, however,
if the water level continues to go down during usage, even when you cannot see the vapor.
• The DynaFilter cartridge may be clogged with pollutants and it should be replaced.
If you are obtaining too much humidity and water falls out around the unit:
• Room air may be excessively humid (greater than 60% relative humidity); do not use
humidifier. Oversaturated air can cause condensation on cold walls or furniture. For proper
humidity readings, use a hygrometer available at most hardware and department stores.
• The humidifier needs cleaning. Follow Care and Cleaning instructions.
• Medication or other additives may have been added to the water. Follow Care and Cleaning
instructions.
If the unit is making a rattling noise:
• Check to make sure pickup tube is on tightly and the head is on correctly.
• Reposition the unit and make sure it is on a level surface.

1. El aparato siempre debe ser colocado

resistente al agua y al menos a 1.2

intente anular esta característica

5. Para evitar riesgos de incendio o
descarga eléctrica, enchufe el aparato

El DynaFilter®Limpiador de Aire
El Humidificador de Vapor Frío Vick incluye el exclusivo DynaFilter
PK14-3W Limpiador de Aire Protec.
En condiciones ambientales normales, el cartucho del filtro debe reemplazarse
cada dos meses. Los intervalos de reemplazo variarán según la concentración de
agentes contaminantes en el aire. Si observa una gran acumulación de suciedad
en el filtro o la salida del humidificador disminuye en forma significativa,
¡es el momento de colocar un DynaFilter nuevo!
Los cartuchos DynaFilter PK14-3W Protec pueden adquirirse en las principales
farmacias y departamentos de medicamentos.
Modo De Empleo
1. PRECAUCIÓN: DESERENDE EL CABLE ANTES DE USAR. El no hacerlo puede
provocar un sobrecalentamiento y posible riesgo de incendio. Siempre desconecte el
cable antes de quitar la Cubierta Superior o cuando el humidificador no esté en uso.
2. INTRODUZCA EL CARTUCHO DynaFilter. Simplemente quite la envoltura de protección exterior
e introduzca el cartucho DynaFilter en el compartimiento que se encuentra de la cubierta superior
(FILTRO BLANCO AFUERA).
Revise los filtros DynaFilter usados. Si observa una gran acumulación de suciedad, es el momento
de cambiar el DynaFilter.
3. COLOQUE EL HUMIDIFICADOR EN UNA POSICION SEGURA sobre el piso, la mesa u
otra superficie SEGURA, PLANA y UNIFORME. Proteja la alfombra, el piso o los muebles
colocando la unidad sobre un salvamanteles impermeable y aislante para proteger contra los
derrames. No coloque objeto alguno sobre el humidificador ya que podría obstaculizar las entradas
de aire.
Coloque el cable de manera que no obstaculice el paso y no pueda ser arrastrado o pisado.
Cuando se lo utiliza con fines terapéuticos, el humidificador debe colocarse por lo menos a 1,2
metros de distancia de la cama y fuera del alcance de los niños.
7. No opere el aparato sin agua.
Desconecte cuando el tanque
esté vacío.
8. Precaución: Para evitar el riesgo
de incendio, descarga o lesiones
personales, no utilice un cable
de extensión.
9. El aparato requiere limpieza regular.
Lea y siga las instrucciones
de limpieza.
10. No utilice en exteriores; este aparato
está hecho para uso en interiores.
11. No cubra o introduzca objeto alguno en
ninguna de las aberturas del aparato.
12. No intente reparar o ajustar ninguna
función eléctrica o mecánica del
aparato. Si lo hace perderá su garantía.
13. No agregue ningún medicamento

en la Boquilla, Base, Depósito o Tanque
de Agua.

4. LLENE CON CUIDADO. El exclusivo FillChannel™ de Kaz permite llenar la unidad cómodamente
sin necesidad de quitar la cubierta superior. Vierta agua fría de la canilla al FillChannelMR. Llena
hasta que el nivel del agua llegue al Indicador de Nivel del Agua en el frente del contenedor.
IMPORTANTE: NO LLENE EN EXCESO, ya que puede derramarse el agua y posiblemente dañar los
pisos o los muebles.
5. ENCHUFE EL HUMIDIFICADOR. Enchufe el cable de alimentación a un tomacorriente
de 110-120 V~ de corriente alterna.
PRECAUCIÓN: NO ENCHUFE EL CABLE CON LAS MANOS MOJADAS;
PODRIA RECIBIR UNA DESCARGA ELECTRICA.
Este producto tiene un enchufe polarizado (una clavija es más ancha que la otra) como medida de
seguridad. Este enchufe puede introducirse en un tomacorriente polarizado sólo en una dirección.
Si no puede introducir correctamente el enchufe en el tomacorriente, de vuelta el enchufe. Si aún
no puede enchufarlo, comuníquese con un electricista calificado. No intente enchufarlo de manera
incorrecta.
6. IMPORTANTE: Para mantener el humidificador en buenas condiciones de operación, asegúrese
de seguir las instrucciones de Mantenimiento y limpieza.
Mantenimiento Y Limpieza
El agua de la canilla voluntad contener agentes contaminantes y minerales (sarro) que pueden
depositarse en las superficies internas del humidificador. El sarro puede acelerar el crecimiento de
microorganismos y es importante realizar una limpieza periódica según se detalla a continuación.
Es posible que deba limpiar la unidad con más frecuencia si observa una acumulación de sarro.
Verifique el DynaFilter
Primero extraiga el cartucho del DynaFilter y verifique si hay acumulación de polvo o suciedad.
Si observa una gran acumulación de suciedad es el momento de cambiar el DynaFilter. Si no se
reemplaza el DynaFilter, el polvo y otros agentes contaminantes lo atascarán, obstaculizarán la
circulación del aire, disminuirán la eficiencia del humidificador y es posible que dañen el motor.
Mantenimiento diario
1. Desconecte el cable del tomacorriente.
2. Para remover la tapa superior debe girar el tornillo en contra de
las manecillas del reloj y levantar. Colocar la tapa boca abajo
en una superficie plana (Fig. A). Use las lengüetas en ambos lados
de la Cubierta Superior para sacarla. No la coloque sobre el tubo
de recolección. Enjuague la base, límpiela y séquela con un paño
limpio o una toalla de papel.
3. Limpie las superficies exteriores de la cubierta superior con un paño
suave y seco.
PRECAUCIÓN: NO UTILICE AGUA PARA LIMPIAR LA
CUBIERTA SUPERIOR. PODRIA RECIBIR UNA DESCARGA
ELECTRICA O PODRIA DA—ARSE EL HUMIDIFICADOR. NO
SUMERJA LA CUBIERTA SUPERIOR EN AGUA.
4. Para ensamblar, alinear el tornillo al agujero en el tanque y apretarlo en
sentido de las manecillas del reloj (Fig. B).NOTA: No apretar
muy duro el tornillo. El humidificador está listo para usar.

Mantenimiento semanal-Cómo quitar el sarro
1. Desenchufe el cable del tomacorriente.
2. Para remover la tapa superior debe girar el tornillo en contra de las
manecillas del reloj y levantar. Colocar la tapa boca abajo en una
superficie plana (Fig. A). No la coloque sobre el tubo de recolección.
3. Vierta el agua que quede en la base.
4. Afloje cuidadosamente el tubo de recolección de la caja sosteniendo el
disco y girando el tubo de recolección en la dirección de la flecha de
apagado ubicado en la base del Tubo de Recolección (Fig. C).
5. Remoje el tubo de recolección en vinagre blanco sin diluir durante
20 minutos.
6. Humedezca un paño suave y limpio o una esponja en vinagre blanco sin
diluir y limpie la base, el tubo de recolección y las paredes alrededor del
tubo de recolección. ADVERTENCIA: NO utilice jabón, detergente o limpiadores abrasivos.
7. Enjuague bien el tubo de recolección y la base en agua tibia limpia hasta que las partículas de
sarro desaparezcan.
8. Limpie las superficies exteriores de la de recolección superior con un paño suave y seco. NO
SUMERJA NI ROCÍE AGUA SOBRE LA CUBIERTA SUPERIOR. Ahora está listo para desinfectar la
base.

Cómo desinfectar la base
1. Llene la base con una cucharadita (5 ml.) de blanqueador en 1 galón
(3,8 litros) de agua. Coloque el tubo de recolección en la base y
déjelo 20 minutos. Revuelva cada dos o tres minutos para asegurar
que todas las superficies estén mojadas.
2. Vierta el líquido de la base después de transcurridos 20 minutos.
Enjuague bien la base y el tubo de recolección con agua hasta que
desaparezca el olor del blanqueador. Seque con un paño limpio o
toallas de papel.
3. Limpie todas las superficies exteriores de la cubierta superior con un
paño seco y suave. ASEGURESE DE NO SUMERGIR O ROCIAR AGUA
SOBRE LA CUBIERTA SUPERIOR. PODRIA RECIBIR UNA DESCARGA
ELECTRICA O PODRIA DAÑARSE EL HUMIDIFICADOR.
4. Vuelva a colocar el tubo de recolección insertando las lengüetas en las ranuras del Disco.
Sostenga el disco e introduzca los dientes en los orificios del disco. Gire el tubo captador
en la dirección de la flecha de encendido (Fig. D).
5. Para colocar la tapa en la base, alinear el tornillo al agujero en el tanque y apretarlo en
sentido de las manecillas del reloj (Fig. B). NOTA: No apretar muy duro el
tornillo.
El humidificador está listo para usar.
MANTENIMIENTO AL FINAL DE LA TEMPORADA O CUANDO EL HUMIDIFICADOR
NO SERA UTILIZADO DURANTE POR LO MENOS UNA SEMANA.
1. Limpie y seque bien el humidificador según las instrucciones de Mantenimiento semanal
más arriba.
2. Guarde la unidad en un lugar fresco y seco.
NO GUARDE LA UNIDAD CON AGUA EN LA BASE.
Diagnóstico De Problemas
Si la unidad no funciona:
• Verifique que el enchufe esté totalmente introducido en el tomacorriente.
• Revise la corriente de aire. ¿Hay alguna obstrucción que impida la corriente de aire?
• El motor contiene un fusible limitador de temperatura. Si el motor se sobrecalienta, el fusible
se desconecta y se apaga el motor. Desenchufe la unidad y comuníquese con un distribuidor
de Kaz de su zona. No intente reparar el motor usted mismo.
Si no produce suficiente humedad:
• DEBIDO A LAS CARACTERISTICAS DE RODAJE, NO SE ALCANZARA EL RENDIMIENTO
MAXIMO HASTA NO HABER UTILIZADO LA UNIDAD VARIAS VECES.
Si el aire de la habitación es muy seco, se producirá una mayor absorción del vapor, y
el depósito de agua se vaciará más rápidamente. Al aumentar la humedad, disminuirá la
producción de vapor y no será necesario agregar agua con tanta frecuencia. Esta variación
es normal.
• Bajo ciertas condiciones la producción de vapor puede no ser visible. Sin embargo, la unidad
está operando correctamente si el nivel de agua continúa disminuyendo durante el uso,
aunque no pueda verse el vapor.
• El cartucho DynaFilter puede estar obstruido debido a agentes contaminantes y debe
ser cambiado.
Si produce demasiada humedad y el agua rebasa de la unidad:
• El aire de la habitación puede ser demasiado húmedo (humedad relativa de más del 60%);
no utilice el humidificador. El aire sobresaturado puede producir condensación sobre las
paredes o los muebles fríos. Para lecturas correctas de la humedad, utilice un higrómetro que
puede obtener en la mayoría de las ferreterías y tiendas.
• Debe limpiar el humidificador. Siga las instrucciones de Mantenimiento y limpieza.
• Es posible que se haya agregado al agua un medicamento u otro substancia. Siga las
instrucciones de Mantenimiento y limpieza.
Si la unidad está hacienda ruido de golpeteo:
• Verifique para asegurarse que el tubo de recolección y la cabeza estén
colocados correctamente.
• Vuelva a colocar la unidad y asegúrese que esté sobre una superficie nivelada.
