Introduction
The information in this instruction manual covers the installation of Model V20A Pole Mounting Adapter. This unit
should only be installed by a qualified technician using approved materials in accordance with national, state
and local codes. Read this manual through completely before attempting installation.
The Model V20A Pole Mounting Adapter is a heavy-duty unit that accommodates Vicon’s medium-and heavy-
duty wall mounts for outdoor installation. Compatible mounts are V24WM, V2400WM, V2400AWM, V1600WM,
V2000WM, V7UWM, and V5UWM.
Designed to be installed on a pole with a minimum diameter of 3 inches (7.6 cm) and a maximum diameter of 10
inches (25 cm), the V20A with a wall mount attached can support a complete camera system, including a dome
system or a pan-and-tilt drive and camera housing with camera, up to the load rating of the particular wall mount
being used. Constructed of heavy-duty steel, the pole mounting adapter with an attached wall mount provides a
sturdy installation that is capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions.

Installation
Unpacking and Inspection
All Vicon equipment is tested and inspected before leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to deliver
the equipment in the same condition as it left the factory.
Inspection For Visible Damage
Immediately inspect the cartons upon delivery. Make a note of any visible damage on all copies of the carrier’s
freight bill.
Make sure the carrier’s agent (the person making the delivery) signs the note on all copies of the bill. If the agent
does not have claim forms, contact the carrier’s office.
Inspection For Concealed Damage
As soon as possible after delivery, unpack the unit and inspect it for concealed damage. Do not discard the
carton or packing materials. If the unit is damaged, contact the carrier immediately and request forms for filing a
damage claim. Make arrangements for a representative of the carrier to inspect the damaged equipment.
If the equipment must be returned for repair, follow the Shipping Instructions at the end of this manual.

Plate-to-Pole Installation
1. Select the length of chain appropriate for the installation (18-in. or 24 in.), based on the diameter of the pole.
2. Locate the central link of the chain so that an equal number of links is on either side of the center link (±one
link). Refer to Figure 2.
3. Insert the 5/16-18 x 2-1/2 inch hex-head bolt through the center link of the chain.
4. Place the tension nut on the opposite side of the center chain link and screw the hex-head bolt into the
tension nut.
5. Place the pole adapter plate against the pole.
6. Insert each chain end into the opening on each side of the upper pole mount bracket, adjusting the length
equally for minimum slack, while guiding the chain through the tension bracket. See Figure 2.
7. Tighten the hex-head bolt until the chain tension assembly and pole adapter plate are firmly secured against
the pole.
8. Repeat steps 1-8 to secure the other chain tension assembly to the lower pole mount bracket.
Select the appropriate cable access hole(s) provided in the pole adapter plate to route cabling to the camera

together with a connecting chain link provided.
1. Separate both halves of the connecting chain link.
2. Insert one of the connecting chain link halves through one end of both an 18-inch chain and a 24-inch chain.
3. Insert the other connecting chain link component through the same links as in step 2.
4. Place the connecting chain link halves over one another, making sure the pins are inserted in the holes.
Strike all four pins with a small hammer to set the pins, making sure the link can not come apart.
