1. Installation of the camera must be performed by qualified service personnel in accordance
with all local and national electrical and mechanical codes.
2. Do not attempt to disassemble the camera.
In order to prevent electric shock, do not remove screws or cover. There are no
user-serviceable parts inside.
3. Handle the camera with care.
The camera could be damaged by improper handling or storage
4. Do not expose the camera to rain or moisture, or try to operate it in wet areas. Take
immediate action if the camera becomes wet. Turn the power off and refer servicing to
qualified service personnel. Moisture can damage the camera and also create a danger of
electric shock.
5. Do not use strong or abrasive detergents when cleaning the camera body.
Use a dry cloth to clean the camera when dirty. In a case where the dirt is hard to remove,
use a mild detergent and wipe gently.
6. Never point the camera toward the sun.
Whether the camera is used outdoors or not, never point it toward the sun. Use caution
when operating the camera in the vicinity of spot lights or other bright lights and light
reflecting objects.
7. Do not operate the camera beyond its temperature, humidity or power source ratings.
Do not use the camera in an extreme environment where high temperature or high
humidity exists. Use the camera under conditions where temperatures are between
14°F~122°F (-10°C~+50°C), and humidity is below 85%. For the correct power supply,
refer to the specification sheet.
8. If using AC 24V power adapter, only use the AC 24V UL Listed Class 2 power
transformer.
9. Only use a Listed Class 2 power source.
Caution:
To prevent fire or shock hazard, the UL listed wire VW-1, style 1007, should be used for the
cable.

③ Autoiris lens connector for DC or VIDEO drive lens
This connector supplies 9 VDC power and video signal without sync, for video-drive type
autoiris lens.
Caution:
1. Only use AC 24V UL listed class2 power transformer.
2. To prevent fire or shock hazard, UL listed wire VW-1, style 1007, should be used for
the cable for AC 24V input terminal.

④ Autoiris lens connector for DC drive lens
This connector supplies the control signals to the DC drive autoiris lens.
⑤ Power indicator LED
This LED turns ON only when power is supplied properly and the DC-DC converter (or
the regulator) inside the camera works well.
⑥ALC level adjustment potentiometer for DC drive lens
This potentiometer is used only if the camera is fitted with a DC drive autoiris lens. It is
used to control the amount of light striking the CCD image sensor.

7AWB HOLD push button
●Use the AWB HOLD Push Button:
1. When a subject is lighted by many types of light.
2. When you use a special lamp, such as a sodium lamp or mercury vapor lamp.
●How to use:
1. Select AWB on mode select switch 8.Set Pole 5 to OFF for AWB,
2. Display a full screen of white paper or white subject on the monitor.
3. Adjust the screen color to be white pushing AWB HOLD push button.
8MODE SELECT SWITCH
1. INT/LL switch
This camera can operate independently, using its internal crystal-controlled sync generator,
or it may be synchronized using line-locking.
To select one or the other of these sync modes, set the DIP switch on the rear panel to
either INT or LL. Pole 1 is set to ON for LL and OFF for INT.
If line-locking is selected, all the cameras in the system must be adjusted to begin the
video field scan at the same time. This is described in procedure 9,∝.
2. Pole 2 is NOT USED.

3. BLC (backlight compensation) ON/OFF switch
If the subject you wish to view is too dim because of a bright background, set the BLC
switch (Pole 3) to ON to compensate for the bright background.
With BLC on, the background brightness may saturate in some cases. This function
may not operate properly if the object is too small compared to the area of the background.
This function can be used with either the linear shutter (EE or ELC mode) or an autoiris
lens (AI lens or ALC mode).

4. ALC/ELC select switch
This switch is used to select EE (electronic exposure) or ELC (electronic light control)
mode or AI (autoiris lens) or ALC (automatic light control) mode. Pole 4 is set to ON for
EE/ELC and OFF for AI/ALC.
In the EE/ELC mode, a continuously variable electronic shutter is employed to
automatically control the exposure time of the CCD image sensor according to the
incoming light level. With this mode selected, a fixed or manual iris lens can be used
instead of an autoiris lens. In the AI/ALC mode, the CCD shutter speed is fixed to 1/60
(1/50) sec, and the incoming light level is controlled by the autoiris lens.
To use a video-drive type or the DC-drive type of autoiris lens, set this switch to the
ALC position.
Cautions:
1. Under bright lighting conditions such as outdoors, use an autoiris lens because the EE/ELC
control range is not wide enough under these conditions.
2. Under certain unique lighting conditions, the following phenomena may appear:

λStrong smear and/or blooming on highlight objects such as spotlights or windows.
λNoticeable flicker in the picture and/or color rendition variations.
To avoid this, use an autoiris lens.
3. When operating in EE/ELC mode with manual iris lens, the depth of field of the image may
be less than that obtained by using an AI/ALC lens. Depth of field varies inversely with the iris
opening. Thus, using this camera in ELC mode with the manual iris lens fully opened may
result in less depth of field and the distant objects in picture may be seen out of focus.
Note: When adjusting the focus, it is recommended that the iris be completely open (a dark condition, either at
night or using a filter) so that the depth of field does not influence the adjustment.
4. Fixed iris or manual iris lenses may be used with the linear shutter (EE/ELC mode) where
the scene brightness varies over a limited range.
5. Do not use the EE/ELC mode when an autoiris lens is installed.
5. AWB/ATW select switch
This camera has AUTO WHITE BALANCE (ATW) and MANUAL WHITE BALANCE (AWB)
function. The camera is automatically adjusted to the best condition in the ATW mode.
In the AWB mode, it can be adjusted for the best color manually by pushing the AWB HOLD
button (7). Pole 5 is set to ON for ATW and OFF for AWB.
6. AGC ON/OFF switch
This switch is provided for the AGC circuit. The AGC circuit incorporated into the camera
boosts the sensitivity automatically when the scene illumination is insufficient.
7. DAY & NIGHT ON/OFF switch
This switch is used to select DAY & NIGHT mode or only DAY mode.
When this switch is set to ON, it automatically shifts the optical filter for color mode or
black-and-white mode according to the subject brightness.
Cautions:
1. Upon power-up, DAY mode (color mode) is the default.
2. While changing from the DAY mode (color mode) or NIGHT mode (black-and-white
mode) there may be noise. The image will also be distorted. This is normal and does
not indicate a problem.
3. If there is strong reflection on the subject when using infrared lighting, the optical filter

may shift from NIGHT mode (black-and-white mode) to DAY mode (color mode). Use
only proper infrared lighting so that the mode does not get switched.
8. GAMMA ON/OFF switch
When switched ON, GAMMA is 0.45; when OFF, GAMMA is 1.
9,lV-Phase Adjustment Push Button
This camera is stores the initial data value of V-phase in EEPROM.
NOTE: This camera offers V-phase adjustment over a range of ±180°. If two or more
cameras are connected to a switcher and the picture on the monitor rolls while switching from
camera A to B, adjusting the vertical phase (V-phase) of the cameras will probably eliminate the
rolling. If this adjustment is necessary, it should only be performed by qualified technician. Before
making any adjustment, confirm that cameras A and B are connected to a power supply with the
same polarity.
To make an adjustment, follow the steps below.
1. While observing the video output signals from both cameras on an oscilloscope, press
camera A's V-phase control push button (on back of camera) until vertical sync from both
cameras is in phase.
2. If camera A's adjustment range is insufficient, adjust camera B's V-phase control push
button in the opposite direction to camera A until they are in phase.
3. If these adjustments do not bring vertical sync from both cameras in phase, recheck the
polarity of the power supply connections.

If an oscilloscope is not available, a less accurate adjustment can be made by observing the
monitor and adjusting the V-phase control push button until no roll occurs on the monitor when
switching back and forth between cameras A and B.

11. C-MOUNT APAPTER RING
The C-mount adapter ring is used only if a C-mount lens is used on the camera. If a
CS-mount lens is used, the adapter is not necessary. To install the adapter, first screw it into the
lens mount opening on the camera. Then screw the C-mount lens into the adapter.
12. CCD DUST PROTECTIVE CAP
Remove this cap before installing the lens.
Do not handle or leave the camera with cap open.

This screw is used to position the CCD image sensor at the precise point of focus the
lens.
Backfocusing Fixed-Focal-Length Lenses
1. Install a lens and connect the camera to a monitor and power supply as described in this
manual.
2. Open the iris completely. If an autoiris lens used, reduce the room lighting to allow the lens
to open completely. This gives the most accurate results.
3. Adjust the screw slowly until the sharpest picture is obtained. This completes the
adjustment. The backfocus adjustment screw is held in place by friction, so there is no
locking screw.
Backfocusing Zoom Lenses
1. Install a lens and connect the camera to a monitor and power supply. If the lens is
motorized, it must also be connected to a lens control.
2. Position the camera 25~50 feet (8~16meters) from a flat vertical surface suitable for
focusing. A newspaper works well as a focusing target.

3. Open the iris completely. If an autoiris lens used, reduce the room lighting to allow the lens
to open completely. This gives the most accurate results.
4. Zoom the lens in to the maximum telephoto setting. Adjust the optical focus of the lens
using the remote lens control.
5. Adjust the backfocus screw for the sharpest image.
6. Zoom out to the maximum wide angle setting. If the picture is no longer in focus, readjust
the backfocus screw.
7. Repeat steps 4~6 until the image remains sharp through the entire zoom range.
This completes the adjustment. The backfocus adjustment screw is held in place by friction,
so there is no locking screw.

2. Attach a sheet of paper to the unit with the following information:

Coaxial Cable Recommendations
Caution: Careful selection of proper cable is essential to obtain the best performance from this equipment.
Vicon assumes no responsibility for poor performance when cables other than those recommended, or
equivalent, are installed. In all cases, coaxial cable impedance should be 75 ohms.
Materials
Use only a pure copper center conductor. Do not use a copper-plated steel or aluminum center conductor, as
they will result in poor quality video. Solid-core bare copper conductor is the best type, where flexing and
bending will be minimal. If severe bending and flexing is required for installation, use a stranded center
conductor. Never exceed the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius specification. Use cellular (foam)
polyethylene dielectric except where heavy moisture exists. For moisture conditions, use solid polyethylene
dielectric cable with a heavy exterior insulation. The shield must be copper braid providing 95% or better
coverage.
Cable Types
The cable types listed below are the most common 75-ohm types used. They vary in size (diameter), dielectric
type and net DC resistance. The larger cable results in a lower DC resistance and better video quality, with
increased difficulty in handling and installation. Let the required picture quality and cable distance provide a
guide in choosing the best cable type. For cables other than the approved Vicon types below, contact the
manufacturers listed below. Note that “BC” refers to bare copper and “TC” refers to tinned copper.
