Safety instructions
General safety instructions
• Before switching on and operating the system, rst read this safety advice and the operating instructions.
• Keep the operating instructions in a safe place for later use.
• Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the system may only be carried out by authorised
individuals and in accordance with the installation instructions - ensuring that all applicable standards and
guidelines are followed.
• Protect the devices from water penetration and humidity, since these can cause lasting damage.
• Should moisture nevertheless enter the system, under no circumstance switch on the devices under these
conditions, instead send them for examination to an authorised specialist workshop.
• The system must never be used outside of the technical specications, since this can destroy it.
• The device must be protected from excesses of heat, dust, humidity and vibration.
• When separating the system from the voltage supply, only ever use the plug to pull out the cable. Never
pull directly on the cable itself.
• Lay the connecting cables carefully and check that they are not mechanically stressed, kinked or damaged
and that no humidity can penetrate into them.
• In the event of a malfunction, please inform your supplier.
• Maintenance and repairs may only be carried out by authorised specialist personnel.
• The system must be isolated from the power supply before opening the housing.
• The device may only be opened by qualied service personnel. Unauthorised access invalidates any
warranty claim.
• Connection cables should always be exchanged through Videor E. Hartig GmbH.
• Use only original spare parts and accessories from Videor E. Hartig GmbH.
• The housing should only be cleaned using a mild domestic cleaning agent. Never use solvents or petrol as
these can permanently damage the surface.
• During installation, it is essential to ensure that the seals provided are correctly installed and that they are
not displaced during installation. Damaged seals must not be installed and will invalidate any warranty.
• The installer is responsible for the maintenance of the enclosure as per the technical data, e.g. by sealing
the cable outlets with silicone.
• Wire end ferrules should be used when shortening the exible connection cables.
• The devices may only be operated in the temperature range indicated in the data sheet and within the
dened air humidity range.
Product - Specic Safety Instructions
• To prevent a build-up of heat, never cover the ventilation slits.
• Never poke metallic or other items through the ventilation slits; these can cause permanent damage.
• The device must be protected from excesses of heat, dust, humidity and vibration eects.
• Do not place any large weights on the device.

need to take appropriate measures to compensate for these.

In order to set TVI & AHD camera at the same time, the channel combination must be 2
pairs (1,2CH +3,4CH +5,6CH +7,8CH…)

Initial setup
Formating the Hard Drive Disk
After adjusting the time and date for the rst time, it is highly recommended to format
your Hard Disk Drive.
1. Go to the System Menu and select the HDD submenu.
2. Select the Check box next to the HDDs.
3. Click the [HDD Clear] button.
4. When the HDD formatting is complete, exit the main menu and reboot the DVR to
save all changes.
Main menu
The Main Menu (Setup Menu) system includes six (6) sub-menus: System, Device, Record,
Network, Backup, & Q. Setup. To access the Setup Menu, press the [Menu] button on the
front panel of the DVR, or right-click anywhere on the screen and select ‘Setup Menu’.
The DVR’s default user ID and password are: admin/ no password.
Initial setup
When all necessary cameras and monitors are setup in their permanent locations, con-
nect them to the DVR. Use the diagram in the Quick Start Guide and manual for addition-
al information. When all connections have been made, connect the DVR to an appropriate
power supply. The DVR will boot up automatically.
Date and time setup
1. Go to the System Menu and select SYS-
TEM INFO. Click on the pencil icon next to
the Date/ Time to enter edit mode.
2. Select the appropriate display format
from the [DATE/TIME FORMAT] drop down
lists.
3. Select the appropriate date and local
time in the [DATE/ TIME] section.
4. Select the appropriate time zone from
the [TIME ZONE] drop down list.

5. If applicable, enable Daylight Savings mode.
Quick setup
The Quick Setup Menu oers an automatic
recording and HDD calculator. By entering
your anticipated recording days, or the
desired recording resolution, the DVR
will provide you with the estimated days
recorded on your current HDD space.
1.Select how many days you wish to record
on your current storage. The system will
populate recommended recording resolu-
tion, frame-rate, and quality.
2.Select the desired recording specica-
tions. The system will display the number
of days that will be recorded on your
available storage.
iNote: To manually setup recording congurations, Quick Setup must be DISABLED.
If the “Use Quick Setup”option is enabled, the system will ignore all other congurations
set manually.

Recorder setup
Recording conguration
1. Go to the Main Menu and select RECORD.
2. In the record window, select the Record Setup submenu.
3. Choose the desired resolution, frame rate, quality and recording type for continu-
ous recording. (Continuous)
4. Choose the desired frame rate, quality and recording type for Event recording.
(Event)
5. Individually congure the settings for each channel, or use the [COPY SETTINGS]
button to apply changes to multiple cameras.
6. To setup a specic recording schedule, go to the SCHEDULE submenu. You can
setup the record schedule by applying dierent recording modes at dierent days
and times:
– Select a record mode from the options on the top of the screen.
– Using your mouse, click, hold, and drag to select multiple days & hours.
– You can setup a unique recording schedule for each channel or apply the same
recording settings to all channels.
– You can setup special days as “holidays” either by their date (December 24th) or
by their time of the month (Third Thursday of November).
Network setup
1. Go to the NETWORK menu in the menu window.
iNote: The following information is general guidelines. These may vary by network
and router specications. Contact your installer or ISP for additional info.

2. In the [Network] menu set “Network Type” to [DHCP] and click [IP DETECT].
3. Once the system generates all the information based on your network require-
ments, you can change the Network Type to Static and save all the changes as
static. A static IP address will not be changed by the network. Contact your Inter-
net Service Provider for additional information.
4. Some internet service providers block port 80 in their customer’s routers.
5. Access your router by entering its external IP address in your web browser (this
information can be found by running an ipcong command on your computer’s
Command Prompt. The router’s external IP address is the GATEWAY address.) This
step is only necessary if you are planning to connect to your DVR from a dierent
network, over the internet.
6. Check the DHCP settings in your router and setup the DVR for external connec-
tions by performing port forwarding. Contact your Network Administrator and re-
view the manual for more information. Visit www.portforward.com For additional
information on how to setup port forwarding in your specic router model.
7. Once the router settings have been congured correctly, open an internet explor-
er page and enter your router’s external IP address: DVR’s port number (Example:
http://192.168.0.5). See “Web Viewer” in this manual for more information.
Registering DDNS
1. Check USE DDNS to enable. (Make sure the DVR’s web port has been properly
setup in your router).
2. Select joinip.net (default).
3. Enter a name for your DVR and click the CHECK button. If the name is available in
the server’s database, the system will display the following message: “THIS DVR
NAME CAN BE USED”. Click SAVE to save all changes.
4. To use your DDNS, open an IE page and enter the DDNS in the address bar: DVR-
name.joinip.net:port-number.

Health check
The DVR oers a uniquely true DVR health monitoring, with pop-up messages and e-mail
notication on video loss, recording failure, and storage failure.
To setup:
1. Check the box next to “Enable Health Check”
2. Check the box next to the conditions you would like to be notied on.
3. Set the occurrence intervals. (For Example: when video loss occurs more than 1
time a minute)
4. Select whether to receive a pop-up message when conditions are met.
5. Go to Network ➔ Notications.
6. Under e-mail notications, make sure the Health Check option is enabled. When
any of the failures occur beyond the set conditions, the system will display a pop-
up alert and send an e-mail notication.

Remote client
CMS (Central Management System)
The CMS is included with the DVR. Install it on your computer from the accessory CD.
After installation, double-click on the shortcut to launch the software. (user/ Password:
Admin / no password)
To Add a site:
1. Right-click on the device list panel and select “CMS Settings > Site management”
2. Make sure DVR series is selected from the Model drop-down list.
3. Enter your DVR’s information:
– Site Name
– IP Address. If you are trying to connect to the DVR from a PC that is in the same
network as your DVR
– TCP Port- will be lled out to Default (80, consecutively).
– ID and Password- to access the DVR.
4. Press‘+Add’ to save, or‘Clear’ to delete all changes.
5. To connect to the newly added site, click on the name and drag it into the viewing
area. Select to view Live/ Playback.
Web
1. Open an Internet Explorer web page.
2. To view the DVR’s web page using Google Chrome,
please install the “IE Tab”add-on.
3. After entering the DVR’s IP address, press the add-
on’s button on the top right-hand corner of the web
viewer to enable the web viewer to be displayed on
Google Chrome.
4. Enter the User ID and Password and click Enter.
(Default User/ Password: admin/ no password).
5. The DVR’s web viewer will be displayed.

iNote: If you are using IE, install all Active-X Control notications to view video from
the DVR.
Help
The “HELP” button will help you understand
how to setup several important settings
such as DDNS, NOTIFICATION, BACKUP,
SCHEDULE, NETWORK, and CAMERA. For
example, if you need help about how to set
“BACKUP”, Click “HELP” button at the right
bottom of the BACKUP menu.

Sicherheitshinweise allgemein
• Bevor Sie das System anschließen und in Betrieb nehmen, lesen Sie zuerst diese Sicherheitshinweise und
die Betriebsanleitung.
• Bewahren Sie die Betriebsanleitung sorgfältig zur späteren Verwendung auf.
• Montage, Inbetriebnahme und Wartung des Systems darf nur durch dafür autorisierte Personen
vorgenommen und entsprechend den Installationsanweisungen - unter Beachtung aller mitgeltenden
Normen und Richtlinien - durchgeführt werden.
• Die Geräte gegen Eindringen von Wasser und Feuchtigkeit schützen, dies kann zu dauerhaften Schäden
führen.
• Sollte dennoch Feuchtigkeit eingedrungen sein, die Geräte nie unter diesen Bedingungen einschalten,
sondern zur Überprüfung an eine autorisierte Fachwerkstatt geben.
• Das System darf nie außerhalb der technischen Daten benutzt werden, da es zerstört werden kann.
• Das Gerät ist vor großer Hitze, Staub, Feuchtigkeit und Vibrationseinwirkung zu schützen.
• Um das System von der Versorgungsspannung zu trennen, ziehen Sie das Kabel nur am Stecker heraus.
Ziehen Sie nie direkt am Kabel.
• Verlegen Sie die Verbindungskabel sorgfältig und stellen Sie sicher, dass die Kabel nicht mechanisch
beansprucht, geknickt oder beschädigt werden und keine Feuchtigkeit eindringen kann.

• Wartung und Reparaturen dürfen nur von autorisiertem Fachpersonal ausgeführt werden.
• Vor Önen des Gehäuses ist eine Netztrennung erforderlich.
• Das Gerät darf nur von qualiziertem Servicepersonal geönet werden. Fremdeingrie beenden jeden
Garantieanspruch.
• Anschlusskabel sollten immer nur durch VIDEOR E. Hartig GmbH ausgetauscht werden.
• Verwenden Sie nur Originalersatzteile und Original-Zubehör von Videor E. Hartig GmbH.
• Zur Reinigung der Gehäuse immer nur ein mildes Haushaltsmittel verwenden. Niemals Verdünner oder
Benzin benutzen, dies kann die Oberäche dauerhaft schädigen.
• Bei der Montage muss grundsätzlich darauf geachtet werden, dass vorhandene Dichtungen ordnungs-
gemäß eingesetzt und bei der Montage nicht verschoben werden. Beschädigte Dichtungen dürfen nicht
mehr verbaut werden und führen zum Erlöschen des Garantieanspruchs.
• Der Errichter ist für die Aufrechterhaltung der Schutzart lt. Techn. Daten verantwortlich, z.B. durch Abdich-
tung des Kabelaustritts mit Silikon.
• Bei Kürzung von exiblen Anschlussleitung sind Adernendhülsen zu verwenden.
• Die Geräte dürfen nur in den im Datenblatt angegebenen Temperaturbereiche und der denierten Umge-
bungsluftfeuchte betrieben werden.
