AUTOMATIC TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM
Functions
VIGIA automatically regulates tire calibration maintaining
predetermined (cold) pressure, even with punctures and with the
vehicle in motion.
Operation
Before any decrease of the predetermined pressure, by minimum
that may be, in one or more tires, provoked by punctures or other
motives, VIGIA alerts the driver of the problem and its location. At
the same time VIGIA automatically maintains the predetermined tire
pressure. If the loss is of great magnitude, for example: a blowout
and VIGIA can not compensate the loss of pressure, the system will
alert of the situation and an integrated electronic security device
will automatically block the equipment annulling the delivery of air
to the damaged tire. In this manner you will be assured the normal
operation of the remaining air powered systems: brakes, suspension,
etc. This model can be applied to all vehicles equipped with an air
compressor.

Sequential Mode: Each pressure is
visualized for 10 seconds each one

seconds pressure 3 and then it goes to
pressure 1 again and so forth.

Explanation: If there is a pressure loss (tire puncture) the con-
trol panel automatically goes into sequential mode to alert the
driver of the problem.
Air Leak
The panel will indicate the magnitude of the air loss through an alarm:
Small loss: 1 beep every 9 seconds
Medium loss: 2 beeps every 5 seconds
Big loss: 3 beeps every 2 seconds
Important: For every case, repair the air loss and/or contact
the closest ocial service.
If there is more than one air loss the control
panel wil only indicate the sequential
losses.
For example: If there is an air loss in
pressures 2 and 3, the display will indicate
pressure 2 for 10 seconds, then pressure
3 for 10 seconds and so forth, but it will
not indicate pressure 1.

Tire Pressure Variances and the Electronic Tire
Calibration System VIGIA
A- Calibrate cool tires.
The tires should be calibrated when they
are cold at ambient temperature according
to the “ination table” supplied by the tire
manufacturer.
AMBIENT
TEMPERATURE
B- Never bleed tires due to the pressure increase generated by operation
(rolling.).
Tires normally increase about 18% its initial pressure. This percentage
may vary according to the type of tires, this is why you should request
the load table to the manufacturer and appropriate pressures.
C- Over-ination generated by operation (rolling).
VIGIA has the ability to indicate over-ination when certain conditions
are met:

10
- That no losses exist neither in the system or the tires.
- That pressure equilibrium among the VIGIA system and the tires
exist (that is to say that the control panels indicate, for example;
8 kg. and the tires actually have 8 kg.).
- That the VIGIA ination valves are in perfect condition and are
operating properly.
When there is a balanced pressure between the Vigia equipment
and the tires, the ination valve becomes neutral. Tires increase their
temperature when rolling, so their internal pressure increases and it
goes out through the VIGIA valve because of the vibrations produced
by the imperfections of the road. That overpressure goes into the
VIGIA connection network and therefore the board will indicate the
episode.
Nota: It is possible that the increased pressure not be equal in
all of the vehicles tires. In this case the system will indicate the
minimum pressure.
If in operation, VIGIA detects a considerable increase in pressure
(more than 18 %) the cause should be inspected. In this case VIGIA
will be indicating the following:
A- Initial pressure of at tire.
B- Bad load distribution.

11

C- Wrong selection of tire size in regards to
load, speed or road conditions.
D- Different or mixed matched tires on the

E- Axles are out of alignment.
F- Different size tires in duals.
G- Problems in the vehicles suspension,
steering or alignment.
H- Problems in the brake systems.

12
I- Incorrect separation among tires duals.
J- Bad or oval wheels.
VIGIA allows you to monitor over-ination. VIGIA does not contribute
to over-ination. VIGIA is simply offering information. It’s indicating
problems that exist with or without VIGIA. Without VIGIA these
problems would occur unnoticed.
D- Flat tire
In the event of a at tire, VIGIA will supply
predetermined pressure without attending
to the increase of the tire pressure caused
by rolling. It is important to repair the
damaged tire, as soon as circumstances
permit it.

MAINTENANCE
Purge Deposit (Tank) and Clean
Air Filter
A- The air lter will retain solid impurities.
To eliminate liquid impurities, purge the
deposit (tank) often.
B- The air lter should be kept clean
for correct operation, as needed and
conditions of use, at least twice a year.
C- When taking apart lter for cleaning, pay
attention to the location of the pieces.
D- Lubricate the o-ring to avoid damage and
air leaks.
E- Maximum pressure: 200lbs/sq inch.
(14 BAR).
Clean and/or Replace Valve Connectors
If upon disconnecting ination valves if there is a constant air loss, this
indicates that one or more VIGIA ination valves allow air pressure to
escape. Proceed in the following:
A- Determine which valve has the air loss.
B- Remove the connector of the ination valve.
C- Spray the surface of the entrance with
soapy water to verify if the fastener seals
correctly.
SOAP
WATER
D- Replace the valve, in case of not solving
the leak.
E- Place the inating valve adjusting it lightly
with a wrench. Verify that the does not
graze the ring, axle, rotor support, etc.

Tire Changes
A- Remove the rotor cover. Disconnect the hose/s at the rotor.
Remove the support bracket if necessary.
B- Remove the tire, being careful as to not damaging the rotor.
C- Remove the connector to the VIGIA ination valve and reinstall
the connector in the tire, keep in mind the following steps:
- Clean, preferably with a brush, the thread
of the original valve.
- Remove the inner valve.
- Adjust the VIGIA valve, tightening smoothly with a wrench. Verify that
the VIGIA valve do not graze the ring, axle, bell housing or brakes, etc.;
if necessary, modify the position.
D- Verify that the tire pressure be lower
to that of calibration value. The
equipment will be the responsible for
calibrating it to the pre-set value.
E- Replace the tire.
F- Replace the rotor support bracket.
G- Connect the rotor and the ination valves hoses with the nuts
provided.
H- Replace the rotor cover and tighten the nut.

IMPORTANCE OF TIRE PRESSURE
The main factor that affects tire performance is tire pressure.
Excessive Tire Pressure:
Excess pressure weakens the tire by
not allowing the tire to absorb impacts,
producing tire failure as well as irregular
wear and reduce puncture resistance.
It reduces the rolling surface, causing
excessive wear in the tires due to the loss
of traction.
Low Tire Pressure:
Under ination produces an increase of
the casing ex. Casing ex generates
excessive heat causing casing fatigue,
excessive tread shoulder wear, cap
separation and ultimately tire failure.
Important: According to the specications established by the tire manu-
facturers, the tire pressure should be regulated when tires are COLD
(allow the tires to cool for 3-4 hours after use). You may have a uctua-
tion of an additional 18 % of pressure due to the temperature increase
caused by tire operation than the original calibrated pressure. VIGIA will
indicate this pressure increase in its operation. Its functioning is correct.
DO NOT BLEED the tires.
