Thank you for purchasing the Groovy Pouch, a self-contained heat source for your Vinyl Flat Record Flattener.
Before you use your pouch, assemble your Vinyl Flat (sold separately) with the warped record. Always use the pouch in a supervised setting.
1. Carefully pull apart the front and side edges of the pouch outer shell to completely unfold it lengthwise (similar to opening a book).
2. Place your Vinyl Flat, assembled with the warped record, printed side up on the right half of the inside liner, as shown below.

Now, fold over the left half of the pouch and gently press the side and right edges of the pouch shell to seal the Vinyl Flat inside the pouch as
shown above.
3. Plug the controller power cord into a convenient 110 v wall outlet.
4. Next, slide the controller switch forward. An orange indicator glows to indicate the heating element is heating. The time it takes to flatten a record
depends on the pouch temperature, the type of warp, record weight and chemical composition of the record, so heating times will always vary
from record to record. For LPs, ALWAYS start with a ONE HOUR heating cycle. For 7” 45s, ALWAYS start with a 30-minute heating cycle. To avoid
damage from overheating, these are conservative estimates so the actual time it may take to flatten a record might be longer than 1 hour.
5. When the heating cycle time is over, slide the controller switch to Off and wait until the Vinyl Flat is cool to the touch (about 45 minutes) before
removing the Vinyl Flat from the pouch. Then, check the record:
•If the warp is completely unaffected by the initial heating cycle (this is common), repeat the heating procedure but increase the heating
cycle by 15 minutes (e.g., you initially tried 1 hour in the pouch now try 1 hour and 15 minutes).
•If the warp is slightly reduced, only increase the follow-up heating cycle by a maximum of 5 minutes (e.g., after 1 hour in the pouch, now
try 65 minutes in the pouch). This 5 minutes of additional heat is critical when you notice a change in the warp –do not exceed it or you
risk damaging the record grooves.
Always make sure that the controller is Off when you are finished using it. Note that the internal pouch heating element is smaller than the Vinyl Flat, by
design, as the Vinyl Flat plates rapidly conduct heat and apply it to the record. However, in the case of stubborn edge warps, we recommend positioning the
edge warp along the middle fold of the pouch to ensure maximum contact with both sides of the heating element.
