Before using
Before using the device for th e first time , the following steps sh ould be performed in order to
operate the devic e safely and to use all functions to their full extent:

Safety instructions
A WARN ING
Driver distraction can cause accidents and
serious personal Injury. Using the radio sys-
tem while driving can distract from traffic.
• Always driveattent iv ely and responsibly.
• Select volume se tting s so that acoustic
signals from the outside are a udible ( for ex-
ample, the sirens of emergency rescue vehi·
cles).
• Setting the vo lume too high can damage
the hearing. This can also extend to short ex-
pos ure of the ears to loud vo lumes .
A WARNING
Sudden v olume fluctuations may occur when
the audio source is changed or connected.

Lower the volume before changing or con-
nec ting to an audio source.

Ne ver let yourself be distracted from the traf ·
fie by co nnecting, inserting or removing the
device
while dri v ing , which can cause acci-
dents.

Unmounted or improp erly mounted external
devices can
be thrown through the passen-
ger compartment in the event of a sudden
driving or braking maneuver or an accident ,
causing injury .
• Ne ver leave external devices in the door s,
on the
front wi nd shield, on or near the area
marked "AIRBAG" on the s te ering wheel, in·
strument panel, seat backs or betw een these
areas
and the occupants. External devic es
can
cause serious injury in th e eve nt of an
accident, espe
cially if the airbags inflate.
The ce
nter arm rest can interfere with the driv-
er's elbow movement and thus cause acc i-
dents and severe injuri es.

Inserting

compatible data media can damage the dev ice.
• When inserting or removing a CD from the
CD slot, always keep it str aight and at a right
an gle to the front of the unit . Do not tilt it or it
could b eco me sc ratch ed. ~

• Inserting a second CD while a CD is insert-
ed or being ejected can destroy the CD drive.
Always wait
for the medium to be e je cted fully !

Contaminants on a disc and non-c ir cular discs
can damage the CD drive.
• Only use clean sta nd ard 12 centimeter COs!
-Do
not aff ix la be ls or s imil ar items to the
medium. Labels can get loose and damage
the drive.

non-circular COs (shape COs) and DVD s.

ard COs.
