Theradionavigationsystemmakesitveryeasy
tohandletheconvenientfeaturesforradio,CD
andnavigationinyourcar.Thesystemcanalso
befittedwithanoriginalVolkswagen6-discCD
changer,a DigitalSoundPackageand,inthe
nearfuture,a telematicsmodule.
Navigation
Thenavigationsystemisyour"intelligentpas-
senger".Withitshelp,youcanreachyourde-
sireddestinationquickly,safelyandconvenient-
lywithouteverhavingtostudycomplicated
roadmaps.Youcan,forexample,drivedirectly
tothenearestfillingstationinanunfamiliar
town.
Thesystemusesthedatastoredonthe
navigationCDtocalculatetheroutetoyour
destination.Duringrouteguidance,a number
ofdifferentdisplaymodesprovideyouwithvis-
ualdrivingrecommendations,indicating,for
example,wheretoturnoff(directionanddis-
tanceuptotheturningpoint),informationon
yourestimatedtimeofarrival,theremaining
drivingtimeanddistancefromyourdestination.
Inaddition,theradionavigationsystemisable
todeliver"spoken"drivingrecommendations.
How
does
the
navigation
system
work?
Theelectronicspeedometersignalandlocat-
ingsignalsreceivedfromGPS(GlobalPosition-
ingSystem)satellitesareusedtoidentifythe
currentlocationofyourvehicle.Thespeedom-
etersignalmeasuresthedistancealreadycov-
ered.
Theinformationgatheredispassedonto
thenavigationsystemandcomparedwiththe
mapdatastoredinthesystemmemory.
