Denna instruktionsbok behandlar de saker som, är väsentliga att känna till
med hänsyn till att bilen försetts med turbo. I
Beträffande skötsel och handhavande av er bil i övrigt, hänvisar vi till bilens
ordinarie instruktionsbok.
INSTRUMENT
Laddningstryckmätare
Laddningstryckmätarens skala är uppdelad i
tre fält. Med visaren i det svarta fältet arbe-
tar motorn som sugmotor. Detta fält är ett
ekonomiområde. Med visaren i det gula
fäl-
tet är turbon inkopplad. Om visaren kommer
in i det röda fältet är övertrycket i insug-
ningsröret för högt. Kör bilen försiktigt till
verkstad för kontroll.
Varningslampa
Som en ytterligare säkerhet är laddnings-
trycksmätaren kopplad till bilens kontrollam-
pa för parkeringsbroms "parking brake".
Skulle övertrycket i insugningsröret bli för
högt lyser kontrollampan.
START OCH KÖRNING
Start -kall motor
1. Dra åt parkeringsbromsen (handbrom-
sen).
2. Växelspaken i neutralläge.
3. Trampa ned kopplingspedalen.
4. Temperatur under + 10° C: Dra ut cho-
ken helt, rör inte gaspedalen,
Temperatur över +10°C: Dra ut choken
till 3/4, rör inte gaspedalen.
5. Vrid tändningsnyckeln t ill startläget. Om
motorn tänder men inte går, tryck lång-
samt ned gaspedalen i botten och håll
den nedtryckt tills motorn går igång.
Släpp nyckeln då motorn startat.
6. För in choken tills bästa tomgång erhålls.
Skjut
in choken mer och mer efterhand
som motorn blir varmare.
Då motorn är
genomvarm skall choken vara helt inskju-
ten.
OBS! Rusa inte upp motorn i höga varv
genast efter en kallstart! 1

Start - varm motor Positiv vevhusventilation Förgasare
1. Dra åt parkeringsbromsen (handbrom-
sen) .
2. Växelspaken i neutralläge.
3. Trampa ned kopplingspedalen.
4. Trampa ned gaspedalen till hälften.
5. Vrid tändningsnyckeln till startläget. Vid
hög temperatur kan bränsleångor finnas i
insugningsröret, vilket gör att motorn inte
startar genast. Tryck i
så fall gaspedalen
i botten och håll den där tills motorn går
igång. Släpp nyckeln
då motorn startat.
VARNING
.. Speciellt viktigt för bilar med turbomo·
tor:
Rusa inte upp motorn i höga varv genast
efter start.
Vid kallstart är oljan trögflytan-
de och når inte alla smörjställen direkt.
Före stopp: Låt alltid motorn gå ned på
tomgång innan avstängning. Efter hård
körning ska motorn gå på tomgång ett
par
minuter före stopp. Om turban är uppe i
varv och motorn stängs av direkt finns stor
risk för värmeskador eller skärning på
grund
av utebliven smörjning.

Motorn är försedd med s k positiv vevhus-
ventilation som har till uppgift att
fö rhindra
att motorns vevhusgaser släpps ut i fria
luf-
ten. I stället sugs de via insugningsröret ner i
cylindrarna och deltar i förbränningen.
Motorolja
B19A1B21A-motorer försedda med turbo-
sats behöver tätare intervaller mellan byte
av motorolja och oljefilter. Förutom byte
vid
ordinarie servicetillfällen skall byte ske mitt
emellan dessa, dvs vid 5.000 eller 7.500 km
(beroende på vilka serviceintervaller .som
gäller för bilen).
Motorolja
av samma kvalitet som för stan-
dardmotorn skall användas.
Volym med filter: 3,85 liter.
Observera de tätare olje· och Oljefilter·
bytesintervallerna enligt ovan.
Oljan i dämpcylindern skall nå upp till cirka 6
mm från centrumspindelns kant.
Oljekvalitet: Motorolja 10 W 40
Oljevolym: 4,5 cm3
Kontrollera nivån: Varje 1.000 km
Observera att motorOlja skall användas till
förgasaren.
HJUL OCH DÄCK
På grund av de ökade fartresurserna (>'80
km/h) krävs ovillkorligen däck av HR·speci·
fikation.
TÄNDSTIFT
I turbosatsen ingår tändstift typ W5DC. Vid
körning huvudsakligen i stadstrafik rekom-
menderas byte till Bosch W6DC (Volvo
de-
taljnr 273596 eller motsvarande).
Observera att tändstift måste bytas vid
7500 - (max) 10.000 km (beroende på
bilens ordinarie serviceintervaller).

SPECIFIKATIONER
Motor
4-cylindrig vätskekyld bensinmotor. Cylin-
derblocket är tillverkat av specialgjutjärn.
Cylinderloppen är borrade direkt i blocket.
Cylinderlocket av lättmetall har separata
in-

been turbo-equipped. I
For handling and maintenanee in general, please refer to the ordinary ear
manual.
INSTRUMENT
Boost pressure gauge
The boost pressure gauge is divided into
th ree sections.
Black section: The engine acts as a normal
aspirated engine. This section is the most
economical to drive in.
Yellow section: The turbo is engaged.
Red section: The excess pressure in the in-
take manifold is too high. Drive the car care-
fully to a Volvo dealer for inspection.
Warning light
For increased security the pressure gauge
is connected to the warning light for the par-
king brake.
If the excess pressure in the intake manifold
becomes too high, this light is lit.
HOW TO START AND DRIVE
Cold engine:
1. Apply the parking brake (handbrake).
2. Gear lever in neutral.
3. Depress the clutch pedal.
4. Temperature below + 10

(50° F):
Pull out the choke fUlly, do not touch the
accelerator pedal.
Temperature above + 10
0e
(50° F):
Pull out the choke 3/4, do not touch the
accelerator pedal.
5. Turn the ignition key to start position. If
the engine does not start immediately
slowly depress the accelerator pedal to
the floor and keep it there until the engine
starts. Release the key when the engine
has started.
6. Push in the choke until best idling is
obtained. Push it in more and more as
the engine becomes warmer.
The choke should
be pushed fully in
when the engine is thoroughly warm.
Never race an engine immediate/y af ter
starting from co/d!

Hot engine:
1. Apply the parking brake (handbrake).
2. Gear lever in neutral.
3. Depress the clutch pedal.
4. Depress accelerator pedal half-way.
5. Turn the ignition key to the starting posi-
tion. At high temepratures there may be
fuel vapors in the intake manifold and the
engine can
be difficult to start. Depress
the accelerator pedal to the floar and
keep it there until the engine starts.
Re-
lease the key when the engine has star-
ted.
WARNING
Especially Important for cars with turbo
englnes:
Do not race the engine immediately af ter
starting.
The oi! has a low viscosity when
coldanddoes not reach directly all the parts
to be lubricated.
Before swltching off: Always let the en-
gine speed drop to idle before switching off.
Aftera harddrive let the engine idle for a few
minutes before switching off.
If the turbo is
tating at high speeds and the engine is swit-
ched off there is a great risk of heatdamage
or shearing due to lack of lubrication.

MAINTENANCE
Positive crankease ventilation
The crankcase is ventilated to prevent crank-
case vapours from entering inta the air. The
vapours are led through the intake manifold
inta the cylinders, taking part in the com-
bustian.
Engine oil
Turbo-equipped B19NB21A-engines reguire
more frequent changes of engine oil and oil
filter.
An extra change should be made be-
tween the ordinary service intervals, that is
at 5.000 km or 7.500 (depending on the
cars's ordinary service intervals).
Engine oil of the same quaiity as for stan-
dard engines shall be used.
Volume including filter: 3,85 litres.
Please nate the more frequent change in·
terva/s for oil and 011 filter.
Carburettor
The dashpot oil level shall be approx. 6 mm
from the edge.
Oil quaiity: Engine oil 10 W 40
Oil volume: 4,5 cm3
Check level: Every 1.000 km
Please nate that engine 011 shall be used in
the carburettor .
WHEE LS ANQ TYRE
Due to Increased performance and speed
(>180 km/h) HR·tyres must be fitted to the
ear.
SPARK PLUGS
Spark plugs type W5DC are included in the
kit. When using the car mainly
in metro-
politan areas spark plugs W6DC are recom-
mende. (Volvo part no. 273596).
Please nate that spark plugs must be
changed at 7.500 to (max) 10.000 km
(depending on the car's ordinary service
in terva Is).
