1. Before first use
Before using for the first time, charge your CoolPower36 using one of
the methods described in 5. Charging.
2. Installation and operation
Your CoolPower36 is designed to run standing upright for stability and
convenient access to sockets and voltage display. However operation at
any angle, from sideways to upside down is permissible. The internal cells
are completely sealed and leak proof.
2.1 In vehicle
- Fit the charge lead screw terminal to the battery ‘CHARGE’ socket
and plug the other end into the vehicle cigarette socket.
- If the WAECO Fast Charge Kit, RAPS12R-U has been fitted to the
vehicle (recommended), connect the charge lead from the battery
to Fast Charge Kit socket.
- Plug your WAECO kompressor fridge or other 12V appliance into
one of the front CoolPower sockets.
2.2 Stand alone
Connect your WAECO kompressor fridge or other 12V appliance into
one of the Front CoolPower sockets. To run your fridge for the longest
possible time, make sure your CoolPower is fully charged first
(see 5. Charging).
3. Fridge running time
Your CoolPower36 is designed to run Kompressor CDF and CF models
from CF18 up to CF60, but will also run the larger CF models for a limited
time. Approximate run times are as follows:
Models Approx. Run Time*, Operating As:
Fridge Only Freezer Only Fridge/Freezer
CDF / CF18 to CF60 27 – 30 hrs 10 – 14 hrs n/a
CF80 / CF110 n/a n/a 9 – 11 hrs
(* @32oC ambient)
Your fridge will run for longer than stated times in cooler ambient
conditions.

4. Testing
Disconnect the charge lead and press the button on your CoolPower
front panel whilst your fridge is running.
4.1 Voltage
Your battery voltage will appear on the digital display. The precise
remaining capacity will vary depending on conditions such as ambient
temperature, but as a general guide will be as follows:
Voltage Capacity
12.8V or more 80% - 100%
12.3V to 12.7V 40% - 80%
11.3V to 12.2V 20% - 40%
4.2 LED’s (on front panel)
A quick visual indication of the condition of your CoolPower can be
obtained at a glance. After disconnecting charging leads and pressing
the test button:
LED Condition (Voltage) Action Required
‘FULL’ (green) ON (12.8V or more) None
Both OFF (11.4V to 12.7V) Charging optional
‘LOW’ (red) ON (11.3V or less) Must Charge
5. Charging
5.1 In-car (12V)
- Plug the charge lead 2-pin screw connector into the ‘CHARGE’
socket on the left hand side of your CoolPower. Then plug the
cigarette plug on the other end of the charge lead either directly
into your vehicle cigarette socket, or (recommended) into the
WAECO RAPS12R-U fast charge kit socket pre-fitted to your
vehicle.
- When the CoolPower is accepting charge from your vehicle battery,
the green LED adjacent to the ‘CHARGE’ socket will illuminate.
5.2 240V mains
- The specified maximum charging current is 12A, however a 6A or
8A charger (WAECO models MBC600 and MBC800) is recommended
as adequate for your CoolPower36.
-An automatic cutout charger must be used, otherwise
irreparable damage will occur and your warranty voided.
- Disconnect your fridge and DC charging lead from the battery.

- Before turning the battery charger on, connect the alligator clamps
to the + and – posts at the top of the CoolPower36, ensuring good
contact. Now turn the charger on.
- Charging times will vary depending on depth of battery discharge
prior to charging, but as a guide, assuming 80% discharge it will
take the following times:
Charger Charge Time
MBC600 (6A RMS) Approx. 12 hrs
MBC800 (8A RMS) Approx. 11 hrs
- To test your battery after charging, disconnect the charger, wait 30
minutes and then follow the procedure outlined in 4. Testing.
6. Depth of discharge v’s battery life
- The depth of discharge (DOD) is the amount the battery is drained
without charging. For example a remaining capacity of 20% equates
to an 80% DOD.
- The cycle service life is the number of times the battery will cycle from
fully charged to a given DOD. For a battery in continuous use
approximate service life figures are as follows:
DOD Service Life (# Cycles)
80 % 300
50 % 580
30 % 1,350
- Total battery life is a combination of service life and storage
conditions when not in use and is influenced by other variables.
However as a general guideline you can increase the life of your
battery by not discharging any further than necessary before
charging.
7. Storage
All batteries benefit from periodic charging when not in use. Following
this advice will ensure optimum life from your CoolPower36.
Self-discharge characteristics vary with ambient temperature and age,
but as a general guideline the battery should be fully charged every
3-4 months.

8. Troubleshooting
a) Battery charge OK, no power to fridge
i) Check all connections – ensure they are secure and clean
ii) Check fuse located at rear of battery directly behind the socket
powering your fridge. If blown, replace with 15A 3AG fuse
b) Not fully charging in-car
i) Check connections – ensure they are secure and clean
ii) Is the WAECO RAPS12R-U Fast Charge Kit fitted? If not, the vehicle
wiring may not be heavy enough to deliver adequate charging
current. Fit RAPS12R-U to vehicle.
