5.1 Mounting Guidelines
•The e-Suite Tap is designed to be mounted on a Wallgate vanity top or basin but
is compatible with many others. If the tap is to be used with a non Wallgate basin,
ensure there is sufficient space for the water connections to the tap; see Figure 1
for dimensions.
•Hot and cold water supplies are necessary. See Table 1 on page 16 for the
specifications of the water supplies.
•The hot water supply should be fitted with a thermostatic mixing valve, prior to
the solenoid valve, to prevent risk of injury to users & to protect the solenoid
valve.
•An electrical supply of 230V 50Hz with a 2 Amp rating is required for the optional
electronic control units.
•The E-suite taps are to be used in conjunction with a WDC100e or WDC200e,
this version of the WDC has no automatic hygiene purge feature to conform to
WRAS requirements.

5.3 e-Suite Tap installation
NOTE: The installation procedure is shown on a vanity top but also applies
when fitting the tap to a basin.
Refer to Figure 3 in conjunction with the installation procedure below:
Install the tap as follows:
1. Remove the rubber washer (item 2) and ½” BSP back nut (item 3) from the tap
tail.
2. Fit the tap/s to the vanity top (ø22mm holes required) and secure with the back
nut.
3. Check that the ø15mm tap connector (item 4) is not contaminated with grit or
debris and has no sharp edges or burrs. Fit the tap connector over the encoder
shaft (check fibre washer is in place).
4. Slide the brass Tectite push fit (item 5) over the encoder shaft and fit onto the
copper end of the tap connector until it fully reaches the stop.
NOTE: Do not push on the bottom of the assembly! The shaft should protrude
from the bottom of the assembly when installed fully.
5. Fit the lower connector (item 6) into the bottom of the Tectite push fit, as shown
so that the encoder shaft protrudes through the center.
6. Tighten the anti-rotation grub screw in the lower fitting.
NOTE: The grub screw only needs to be tight enough to prevent rotation of the
lower fitting, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
7. Install encoder as per instructions in Section 5.5

5.4 Water Connections
NOTE: Before you carry out the following steps, flush the water supply pipes to
remove any debris and trapped air.
NOTE: Fit a Y strainer in the water supply feed pipes before connection to the
washbasin, especially on older installations where loose particles from ageing
water pipes can cause a blockage and/or damage to the solenoid valves.
NOTE: Fit a service isolating tap on the water supply feed to each water
solenoid valve. This allows for ease of maintenance when required. The
isolating tap is not supplied by Wallgate, and should be purchased separately.
NOTE: Use of any pipe sealing compound should be avoided to prevent
blockages & damage to the basin faucet & water solenoid valves.
NOTE: The proportional flow solenoid valve has a direction of flow arrow on
the body, ensure correct orientation.
1. Fit ø15mm copper water pipe (item 7) to the solenoid valve outlet and then fit this
to the Tectite T inlet (item 5) as shown on Figure 3.
NOTE: The copper water pipe must be properly de-burred both internally and
externally to create a 1mm chamfer on the outside of the tube that fits to the
Tectite push fit T. A proprietary pipe cutter must be used.
2. When connecting a tap to the hot water supply, ensure a Thermostatic Mixing
Valve is fitted prior to the solenoid valve, to protect the user and prevent damage
to the valve.
3. Fit the proportional control solenoid valve (item 8) to the ø15mm copper pipe
(item 7) as shown.
NOTE: Direction of flow arrow on solenoid valve body.
4. Fit appropriate waste tails and traps to the basin.

5.5 Fitting the electronic encoder housing
The electronic encoder housing (item 9) has a plastic connector on the end with a
slotted hole (shown on Figure 6).
1. Lift the locking nut and engage the flatted end of the encoder shaft into the
slotted hole.
2. Position the encoder for optimum cable routing.
3. Fasten the flange nut until the encoder no longer freely rotates. The nut should
only be firmly hand tightened.
NOTE: The tap shaft will only engage with the encoder in the correct
orientation. The encoder housing must be turned until the two engage
correctly.
4. The encoder is to be connected directly to the valve via the two crimp connectors
provided. The rubber boot is then to be fitted over the valve to prevent moisture
and dust ingress and to reduce the possibility of accidental loosening.
Figure 7: Encoder to valve connection.
5. The encoder can then be connected to the WDC controller with the provided
splitter cable.

5.6 Mounting the WDC
WARNING! The valve controller & WDC electronic control unit are electrical
items and should be sited away from possible sources of water leaks.
1. Mount the WDC controller to the wall using the four fixing holes provided in the
controller.
2. Connect the encoder cable (blue connector) to the WDC cable (green connector),
screw the locking rings hand tight.
3. Plug the MINI XLR and jack plug connections from the encoder cable into the
WDC controller. Ensure both connectors are fully inserted and in the correct ports
on the WDC, for the holt and cold taps (instructions can be found in the WDC
manual).
NOTE: The cable ends are marked for connection to the appropriate sockets on
the WDC controller.
4. Connect the valve cable from the encoder to the solenoid valve terminals (the
valve connections are not polarity sensitive). Push the provided rubber boot over
the solenoid to prevent dirt and moisture ingress.
5. Connect the WDC control unit to a suitable, fused power supply as explained in
the WDC product manual.
6. Switch on the WDC electronic controller (at the power supply) and wait for the
screen to display “ready”.
7. Hold down the MENU and DOWN ARROW (marked PURGE) for a few seconds
until the cold tap operates, followed by the hot tap. Each tap will turn ON / OFF 10
times.

Revision 3
20
Product Manual e-Suite Tap
NOTE: At this stage the WDC controller can be turned off again and the pipe
connections should be inspected for any leaks.
5.7 Setting stops
After installing the e-Suite tap the encoder must be set to register the stop position of
the tap. This is done as follows: -
1. The WDC power must be on and all cables connected correctly.
2. Turn the tap clockwise until contact with the stop is felt.
3. Press the recessed button on the bottom of the encoder and hold for 4
seconds.
NOTE: To prevent accidental setting this button is recessed, so will require the
use of a small non-conductive rod (or the end of a pen).
