radiators, stoves, orother apparatus that
produce heat.
9) Do notdefeat the safety purpose of thepolari-
zed or grounding-typeplug. A polarized plug
has two bladeswith one wider than the other.
A grounding-type plughas two blades and a
third grounding prong. The wide blade or the
third prong isprovided for your safety. Ifthe

OVE TOP ORBOTTOM COVERS. NO USER SE-
RVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING
TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
MAGNETIC FIELD
CAUTION! Do notlocate sensitive highgainequipment such as
preamplifiers or tapedecks dirctly above or below theunit. Be-
cause this amplifierhas a high power density,it has a strong
magnetic field whichcan induce hum into unshielded devices
that are locatednearby. Thefield is strongestjust aboveand b-
elow the unit.
If an equipmentrack is used, we recommend locatingthe amp-
lifier(s) in thebottom of the rack and thepreamplifier or other
sensitive equipment atthe top.
WATCHFOR THESE SYMBOLS:
The exclamation pointtriangle is used to alert the user toimpo-
rtant operating or maintenance instructions.
The lightning bolttriangle is used to alert the user tothe risk of
electric shock.

2.1 Unpack YourAmplifier
Please unpack andinspect your amplifier for any damage
that may haveoccurred during transit. If damage isfound,
notify the transportation companyimmediately. Savethe
shipping carton as evidenceof damage forthe shipper s
inspection.
We also recommendthat you saveall packing materials so
you will havethem if you ever need totransport the unit.
Never ship theunit without the factory packaging.
YOU WILL NEED(not supplied):
Output wiring cables
Input wiring cables
Rack for mountingamplifier (or astable surface for
stacking)
WARNING: Before youstart to set upyour
amplifier, make sure you read and observe
the Important Safety Instructionsfound at
the beginning ofthis manual.
2.2 Install Your Amplifier
CAUTION: Before youbegin, make sure your ampli-
fier is disconnectedfrom the power source, with
the power switchin the off position and all
level controls turnedcompletely down (counterc-
lockwise).
Use a standard equipment rack .
See Figure 2.1for amplifier dimensions.
19-inch (48.3 cm)
You mayalso stack ampswithout using a cabinet.
NOTE: When transporting, amplifiers should be supported
at both frontand back.
2.3 Ensure Proper Cooling
When using anequipment rack, mount units directly ontop
of each other. Close anyopen spaces inthe rack withblank pa-
nels. DO NOTblock front, rear or side airvents. The sidew-
alls of therack should be a minimum oftwo inches (5.1cm)
away from theamplifier sides, and the back ofthe rack sh-
ould be aminimum of four inches (10.2 cm)from the amp-
lifier back panel.

2.4 Choose Input Wire and Connectors
ACM Audio recommends using pre-builtor professionally
wired, balanced line(two-conductor plus shield), 22-24
gauge cables andconnectors. Depending upon which am-
plifier input youchoose, you should use either 3-pinmale
XLR connectors, orjack connectors for the amplifier inputs.
Unbalanced line mayalso be used but may resultin noise
over long cableruns.
Note: Amplifier inputconnectors not used for audio signal
input may beused for daisy-chaining of the audiosignal
to other components.
Figure 2.2 showsconnector pin assignments for balanced
wiring, and Figure2.3 shows connector pin assignments
for unbalanced wiring.
NOTE: Custom wiringshould only be perf-
ormed by qualifiedpersonnel.
2.5 Choose Output Wire and Connectors
recommends using pre-builtor professionally
wired, high quality, two- orfour-conductor,heavy gauge
speaker wire andconnectors. Youmay use two4-pole Spe-
akon connectors (Figure2.4and Table 1) or banana plugs,
Toprevent the possibility of short-circuits, wrap or otherwise
insulate exposed loudspeakercable connectors.
CAUTION: Never useshielded cable for output wiring.

2.7 Connect to AC Mains
2 Setup
Connect your amplifierto the AC mains power source(po-
wer outlet) withthe supplied AC power cable. First,co-
nnect the IECend of the cable to theIEC connector on
the amplifier; then, plug the other end of thecable to
the AC mains.
WARNING: The thirdprong of this connector(grou-
nd) is animportant safety feature. Donot attempt
to disable thisground connection by using an ad-
apter or othermethods.
The AC mainsvoltage and current must be sufficientto deliver
the power youexpect. Youmust operate your amplifier from
an AC mainspower source with not more thana 10% variation
above or a15%variation below the amplifier s specifiedline
voltage and withinthe specfied frequency requirements (indicated
on the amplifiers back panel label). If youare unsure ofthe output
voltage of yourAC mains, please consult an electrician.
2.8 Startup Procedure
Use the followingprocedure when first turning on your
amplifier:
1. Turndown the levelof your audiosource.
2. Turndown the levelcontrols of theamplifier.
3. Turnon the Power switch. The Powerindicator
should glow.
4. Turnup the levelof your audiosource to an optimum
level.
5. Turnup the Levelcontrols on the amplifier until the
desired loudness orpower level is achieved.
6. Turndown the levelof your audiosource to its normal
range.
If you everneed to make any wiring orinstallation changes,
do not forgetto disconnect the power cable.

3 Operation
3.1 Precautions
Your amplifieris protected frominternal and external
faults, but youshould still take the following precautions
for optimum performance andsafety:
1. Before use, your amplifier first must be configured for
proper operation, includinginput and output wiring
connection. Improper wiringcan result in serious operat-
ing difficulties.
2. Take care when making connections, selecting signal
sources and controllingthe output level.
3. Do notshort the ground leadof an output cable to the
input signal ground. This may form a ground loop and
cause oscillations.
4. WARNING: Never connect the output
to a power supply, battery or power
main. Electrical shock may result.
5. Tampering with the circuitry, ormaking unauthorized
circuit changes maybe hazardous and invalidates your
warranty.
6. Do notoperate the amplifier with the redClip LEDs
constantly flashing.
7. Do notoverdrive the mixer, which willcause a clipped
signal to besent to the amplifier. Such signals willbe
reproduced with extremeaccuracy, and loudspeaker
damage may result.
8. Do notoperate the amplifier with less thanthe rated
load impedance. Dueto the amplifier s output prot-
ection, such aconfiguration may result in premature
clipping and speakerdamage. Remember: is not
liable for damagethat results from overdriving other
system components.
