KNOW YOUR UNIT
• Read your instruction manual carefully until
you compietely understand and can follow
all warnings and safety rules before operat-
ing the unit.
• Restrict unit to users who understand and
will follow all warnings and safety rules in
this manual and on the unit.
PLAN AHEAD
_i WARNING: inspect area before start-
ing unit. Remove all debris and hard objects
such as rocks, glass, wire, etc. that can rico-
chet, be thrown, or otherwise cause injury or
damage during operation.
• Always wear eye protection when operating,
servicing, or performing maintenance on unit.
Wearing eye protection will help to prevent
brush or debris from being thrown or ricochet-
ing into eyes and face which can result in
blindness and/or serious injury. Eye protec-
tion should be marked Z87.
• Wear hearing protection when using this
unit.
• Secure hair above shoulder length. Secure
or remove jewelry, loose clothing, or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging straps, ties, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.
• Stay alert. Do not operate unit when you are
tired, ill, upset, or ifyou are under the influence
of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
• Keep children, bystanders, and animals
away from work area a minimum of 30 feet
(10 m) when starting or operating unit.
HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION
• Eliminate all sources of sparks or flame (in-
cluding smoking, open flames, or work that
can cause sparks) in the areas where fuel is
mixed, poured, or stored.
• Mix and pour fuel in an outdoor area; store
fuel in a cool, dry, well ventilated place; use
an approved, marked container for all fuel
purposes.
• Do not smoke while handling fuel or while
operating the unit.
• Do not fill fuel tank while engine is running.
• Make sure the unit is properly assembled
and in good operating condition.
• Avoid spilling fuel or oil. Wipe up fuel spills
before starting the engine.
• Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from
fuel and fueling site before starting engine.
• Always store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
OPERATE YOUR UNIT SAFELY
_I, DANGER: RISK OF CUT; KEEP
HANDS AWAY FROM BLADE-Blade
moves momentarily after the trigger is re-
leased. Do not attempt to clear away cut ma-
terial when the blade is in motion. Make sure
the switch is in the OFF position, the spark
plug wire is disconnected, and the blade has
stopped moving before removing jammed
material from the cutting blade. Do not grab or
hold the unit by the cutting blade.
• inspect unit before each use for worn,
loose, missing, or damaged parts. Do not
use until unit is in proper working order.
• Keep outside surfaces free from oil and fuel.
• Never start or run engine inside a closed
room or building. Breathing exhaust fumes
can kill.
• Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use
in unventilated areas or where explosive
vapors or carbon monoxide build up could
be present.
• Do not overreach or use from unstable sur-
faces such as ladders, trees, steep slopes,
rooftops, etc. Keep firm footing and balance
at all times.
• Do not raise unit above your shoulders; the
cutting blade can come dangerously close
to your body.
• Always keep unitinfront ofyour body. Keep
all parts of your body away from the cutting
blade.
• Keep the cutting blade and air vents free
from debris.
• Use only for jobs explained in this manual.
MAINTAIN YOUR UNIT PROPERLY
• Have all maintenance other than the rec-
ommended procedures described in the in-
struction manual performed by an autho-
rized service dealer.
• Disconnect spark plug before performing
maintenance except for carburetor adjust-
ments,
• Do not use a cutting blade that is bent,
warped, cracked, broken, or damaged in any
other way. Have worn or damaged parts re-
placed by an authorized service dealer.
• Use only recommended WEED EATER
cutting blades and replacement parts; use
of any other parts may void your warranty
and cause damage to your unit.
• Empty fuel tank before storing the unit. Use
up fuel left in carburetor by starting engine and
letting it run until it stops.
• Hand carry the unit with the engine stopped
and the muffler and cutting blade away from
your body.
• Allow engine to cool, empty the fuel tank,
and secure the unit before storing or trans-
porting it in a vehicle.

SAFETY NOTICE: Exposure to vibrations
through prolonged use of gasoiine powered
hand tools could cause blood vessel or nerve
damage in the fingers, hands, and joints of
people prone to circulation disorders or ab-
normal swelling. Prolonged use in cold
weather has been linked to blood vessel dam-
age in otherwise healthy people. If symptoms
occur such as numbness, pain, loss of
strength, change in skin color or texture, or
loss of feelh_g in the fingers, hands, or joints,
discontinue the use of this tool and seek
medical attention. An anti vibration system
does not guarantee the avoidance of these
problems. Users who operate power tools on
a continual and regular basis must monitor
closely their physical condition and the condi-
tion of this tool.
SPECIAL NOTICE: This unit is equipped
with a temperature limiting muffler and spark
arresting screen which meets the require-
ments of California Codes 4442 and 4443. Atl
U.S. forest land and the states of California,
idaho, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ore-
gon, and Washington require by law that
many internal combustion engines be
equipped with a spark arresting screen. Ifyou
operate in a locale where such regulations ex-
ist, you are legally responsible for maintaining
the operating condition of these parts. Failure
to do so is a violation of the law. For normal
homeowner use, the muffler and spark arrest-
ing screen will not require any service. After
50 hours of use, we recommend that your
muffler be serviced or repiaced by an autho-
rized service dealer.
Examine parts for damage. Do not use dam-
aged parts.

It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Finding fuel or oil residue on muffler is normal
due to carburetor adjustments and testing
done by the manufacturer.

ON/OFF SWITCH
The ON/OFF SWITCH is used to stop the en-
gine. To stop engine, move switch to OFE
CHOKE
The CHOKE helps to supply fuel to the engine
to aid in cold starting. Activate the choke by
moving choke lever to the desired position. See
STARTING YOUR ENGINE for complete start-
ing information.
PRIMER BULB
The PRIMER BULB removes air from the car-
buretor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel
This allows you to start the engine with fewer
pulls on the starter rope. Activate the primer
bulb by pressing it and allowing it to return to
its original position.
THROTTLE TRIGGER
The THROTTLE TRIGGER controls engine
speed. Squeeze the trigger for full speed opera-
tion; release it for idle speed.
AWARNING: Muffler is very hot during
and after use. Do not touch the muffler or al-
low combustible material such as dry grass or
fuel to do so.

ratio, pour 8.2 ounces of
2-cycle synthetic off into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is certified to operate on unleaded
gasoline. Before operation, gasoline must be
mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle air-
cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a ratio
of 40:1. Poulan/WEED EATER brand synthetic
oil is recommended, A 40:1 ratio is obtained
by mixing 3.2 ounces (95 ml) of oil with 1 gal-
lon (4 liters) of unleaded gasoline), DO NOT
USE automotive oil or boat oil. These oils will
cause engine damage. When mixing fuel. foF
low instructions printed on oil container. Once
oil is added to gasoline, shake container mo-
mentarily to assure that the fuel is thoroughly
mixed. Always read and follow the safety
rules listed under HANDLE FUEL WITH
CAUTION.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol Mended fuels
(called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol)
can attract moisture which leads to separation
and formation of acids during storage. Acidic
gas can damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage. To avoid engine problems.
empty the fuel system before storage for 30
days or longer. Drain the gas tank, start the en-
gine and let it run until the fuel lines and carbure-
tor are empty. Use fresh fuel next season.
Never use engine or carburetor cleaner prod-
ucts in the fuel tank or permanent damage
may occur.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
It is recommended that the engine not be
operated for longer than 30 seconds at full
throttle. Releasing the trigger and allowing
the engine to briefly return to idle speed (5 -
10 seconds) will be sufficient.
IMPORTANT POINTS
•Use the minimum throttle speed necessary
to effectively cut hedges for optimal hedge
trimmer performance.
• Never attempt to use this hedge trimmer to
cut hedges that have any branches with a
diameter larger than 7/16".

1. Move the ON/OFF switch to the ON posi-
tion.
2. Engage the throttle lock as follows:
• press the throttle lock-out;
• squeeze and hold throttle trigger;
• press and hold throttle lock, then
• release the throttle trigger
NOTE: Keep the throttle lock engaged until
the engine starts.

3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move the choke lever to the FULL CHOKE
position.

5. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine sounds as if it is trying to run, but do
not pull rope more than 6 times.
6. Move the choke lever to the HALF
CHOKE position.
7. Pull starter rope sharply until the engine
runs, but no more than 6 pulls.
NOTE: Ifthe engine doesn't start after 6 pulls
(at the HALF CHOKE position), check to
make sure the ON/OFF switch is in the ON
position. Move the choke lever to the FULL
CHOKE position and press the primer bulb 6
times; puff the starter rope 2 more times.
Move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE
position and pull the starter rope until the en-
cjine runs, but no more than 6 more pulls. If
the engine still doesn't start, it is probably
flooded. Proceed to STARTING A FLOODED
ENGINE.
8. Once the engine starts, allow the engine to
run 10 seconds, then move the choke lever
to the OFF CHOKE position. Allow the unit to
run for 30 more seconds at the OFF CHOKE
position before squeezing and releasing the
throttle trigger to release the throttle lock.
NOTE: if engine dies with the choke lever in
the OFF CHOKE position, move the choke le-
ver to the HALF CHOKE position and pull the
rope until the engine runs, but no more than 6
pulls.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Move the ON/OFF switch to the ON posi-
tion.
2. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
3. Move the choke lever to the HALF
CHOKE position.
4. Engage the throttle lock as directed in
STARTING A COLD ENGINE.

NOTE: Keep the throttle lock engaged until
the engine starts.
5. Pull starter rope sharply until engine runs,
but no more than 5 pulls.
6. Allow the engine to run 10 seconds, then
move the choke lever to the OFF CHOKE
position.
7. Release the throttle lock by squeezing and
releasing the trigger.
NOTE: if engine has not started, pull starter
rope 5 more pulis, if engine still does not run, it
is probably flooded. Proceed to STARTING A
FLOODED ENGINE.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines can be started by placing
the ON/OFF switch in the ON position and the
choke lever in the OFF CHOKE position and
engaging the throttle tock as directed in the
STARTING A COLD ENGINE section; then,
pull the rope to clear the engine of excess
fuel. Starting could require pulling the starter
rope many times depending on how badly the
unit is flooded. If the unit still doesn't start, refer
to the TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE or call
1-800-554-6723.

service dealer performs work on the
product, WEED EATER may not pay for
repairs under warranty. It is your re-
sponsibility to maintain and perform
general maintenance.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
The warranty on this unit does not cover items
that have been subjected to operator abuse
or negligence. To receive fult value from the
warranty, the operator must maintain unit as
instructed in this manual. Various adjust-
ments will need to be made periodically to
properly maintain your unit.

• Before and after each use, inspect com-
plete unit for loose or damaged parts. After
each use, clean the unit and labels using a
damp cloth with a mild detergent.
• Wipe off unit with a clean dry cloth.

Cleaning the air filter:
A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-
ance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Always clean after every
5 hours of operation.
•Clean the cover and the area around it to
keep debris from falling into the carburetor
chamber when the cover is removed.
• Remove parts as illustrated.
NOTE: Do not clean filter in gasoline or other
flammable solvent. Doing so can create afire
hazard or produce harmful evaporative emis-
sions.
• Wash the filter in soap and water.
• Allow filter to dry.
• Add a few drops of oil to the filter; squeeze
filter to distribute oil.
• Replace parts.
INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK
ARRESTING SCREEN
_& WARNING: The muffler on this prod-
uct contains chemicals known to the State of
California to cause cancer.
As your unit is used, carbon deposits build up
on the muffler and spark arresting screen and
must be removed to avoid creating a fire haz-
ard or affecting engine performance.
For normal homeowner use, the muffler and
spark arresting screen will not require any
service. After 50 hours of use, we recom-
mend that your muffier be serviced or re-
placed by an authorized service dealer.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: Keep others away when
maMng idle speed adjustments. The blade
will be movh_g dudng most of this procedure.
Wear your protective equipment and observe
all safety precautions. When making adjust-
ments, use a screwdriver short enough to
keep your hands behh_d the handguard and
away from the blade. After maMng adjust-
ments, the blade must not move at idle speed.
The carburetor has been carefully set at the
factory. Adjustments may be necessary if you
notice any of the foilowh3g conditions:
•Engine will not idle when the throttle is re-
leased.
• The blade moves at idle. Keep others away
when making idle speed adjustments.
Make adjustments with the unit resting on a
level surface free of debris that can be caught
in the hedge trimmer blade. Serious injury to
the operator and others can occur if the car-
buretor is not properly adjusted. Keep all
parts of your body away from the blade and
muffler.
Idle Speed Adjustment
Allow engine to idle. Adjust speed until engine
runs without blade moving (idle too fast) or en-
gine stalling (idle speed too slow).
• Turn idle speed screw clockwise to in-
crease engine speed if engine stalls or dies.
• Turn idle speed screw counterclockwise to
decrease engine speed if the blade moves
at idle.
_,WARNING: Recheck the idle speed
after each adjustment. The blade must not
move at idle speed to avoid serious injury to
the operator or others.

REPLACE SPARK PLUG
Replace spark plug each year to ensure the
engine starts easier and runs better. Set
spark plug gap at 0.025 inch. Ignition timing is
fixed, nonadjustable.
1. Twist. then pull off spark plug boot.
2. Remove spark plug from cylinder and dis-
card.
3. Replace with Champion RCJ-6Y spark
plug and tighten securely with a 3/4 inch
socket wrench.
4. Reinstall the spark plug boot.
REPLACE FUEL FILTER
To replace fuel filter, drain unit by running it dry
of fuel. then remove fuel cap/retainer assem-
bly from tank. Pull filter from tank and remove
itfrom the fuel line. Instali new fuel filter on fuel
line; reinstall parts.

,_WARNING: Perform the following
steps after each use:
• Allow engine to cool, and secure the unit
before storing or transporting.
• Store unit and fuel in awell ventilated area
where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or
open flames from water heaters, electric
motors or switches, furnaces, etc.
• Store unit with all guards in place. Position
unit so that any sharp object cannot acci-
dentally cause injury.
• Store unit and fuel well out of the reach of
children.
SEASONAL STORAGE
Prepare unit for storage at end of season or if
it will not be used for 30 days or more.
If your unit is to be stored for a period of time:
• Clean the entire unit.
• Store in a clean dry area.
• Clean all parts and check for damage.
Have damaged parts repaired or replaced
by an authorized service dealer.
• Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight.
• Lightly oil external metal surfaces, includ-
ing the blade.
To oil the blade, do the following:
• Stop the engine and allow blade to come to
a complete stop.
• Ensure ON/OFF switch is in the OFF posi-
tion.
• Disconnect the spark plug wire.
• Apply a light machine oil along the edge of
the top strap as shown.

FUEL SYSTEM
Under FUELING ENGINE in the OPERA-
TION section of this manual, see message la-
beled IMPORTANT regarding the use of ga-
sohol in your engine. Fuel stabilizer is an ac-
ceptable alternative in minimizing the formation
of fuel gum deposits during storage. Add stabi-
lizer to gasoline in fue] tank or fuel storage con-
tainer. Follow the mix instructions found on sta-
bilizer container. Run engine at least 5 minutes
stabilizer.

ENGINE
• Remove spark plug and pour 1 teaspoon of
40:1,2-cycle engine oil (air cooled) through
the spark plug opening. Slowly put] the
starter rope 8 to 10 times to distribute oil.
• Replace spark plug with new one of recom-
mended type and heat range (see RE-
PLACE SPARK PLUG section).
• Clean air filter.
• Check entire unit for loose screws, nuts,
and bolts. Replace any damaged, broken,
or worn parts,
• At the beginning of the next season, use
only fresh fuel having the proper gasoline to
oil ratio.
OTHER
• Do not store gasoline from one season to
another.
• Replace your gasoline can if itstarts to rust.

California, all small off-road engines must be
designed, built, and equipped to meet the
State's stringent anti-smog standards. Pou-
lan/WEED EATER must warrant the emis-
sion control system on your small off-road
engine for the periods of time listed below pro-
vided there has been no abuse, neglect, or
improper maintenance of your small off-road
engine. Your emission control system in-
cludes parts such as the carburetor and the
ignition system. Where a warrantable condi-
tion exists, Poulan/WEED EATER will repair
your small off-road engine engine at no cost
to you. Expenses covered under warranty in-
clude diagnosis, parts and labor. MANUFAC-
TURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE: ffany
emissions related part on your engine (as
listed under Emissions Control Warranty
Parts List) is defective or a defect in the mate-
rials or workmanship of the engine causes the
failure of such an emission related part, the
part will be repaired or replaced by Poulan/
WEED EATER. OWNER'S WARRANTY
RESPONSIBILITIES: As the small off-road
engine engine owner, you are responsible for
the performance of the required maintenance
listed in your instruction manual. Poulan/
WEED EATER recommends that you retain
all receipts covering maintenance on your
small off-road engine, but Poulan/WEED
EATER cannot deny warranty solely for the
lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure
the performance of all scheduled mainte-
nance. As the small off- road engine engine
owner, you should be aware that Poulan/
WEED EATER may deny you warranty cov-
erage if your small off-road engine engine or
a part of it has failed due to abuse, neglect, im-
proper maintenance, unapproved modifica-
tions, or the use of parts not made or ap-
proved by the original equipment manufactur-
er. You are responsible for presenting your
small off-road engine to a Poulan/WEED
EATER authorized repair center as soon as a
problem exists. Warranty repairs should be
completed in a reasonable amount of time,
not to exceed 30 days. If you have any ques-

WARRANTY PERIOD: Any warranted part
which is not scheduled for replacement as re-
quired maintenance, or which is scheduled
only for regular inspection to the effect of "re-
pair or replace as necessary" shall be war-
ranted for 2 years. Any warranted part which

of time up to the first scheduled replacement

Este motor ester hab/itado para funcionar con
gasolina sin plomo. Antes de comenzar con el
uso, se deber#t mezclar la gasolina con un
aceite de si_tetico de buena catdad para mo-
totes de 2 tiempos enfriados a aire. Recomen-
damos el aceite de sintetico de ta marca Poulan/
WEED EATER. Mezcle la gasolina con el aceite
en la proporcion 40:1. (Se obtene una
proporci6n de 40:1 mezclando 3.2 onzas de
aceite con cada gaI6n de gasolna sin plomo).
NO USE aceite para autom6viles ni para
barcas. Estos aceites daSaran el motor. AI
mezclar el combustible, siga las instrucciones
impresas en el recipiente de aceite. Una vez
aSadido el aceite a la gasolna, agite el
recipiente brevemente para asegurarse que el
combustible este completamente mezctado.
Lea siempre y siga las reglas de seguridad que
se encuentran bajo MANEJE EL COMBUS-
TIBLE CON EXTREMO CUiDADO en la
secci6n regtas de seguridad.
IMPORTANTE
La experiencia indica que los combustibles
mezclados con alcohol (tos lamados gasohol
o los que tienen etanol o metanol) pueden
atraer la humedad, Io que puede causar la
separaci6n y la formaci6n de acidos durante
el almacenaje. La gasolina acida puede
da{fiar et sistema de combustible del motor
durante el almacenaje. Para evitar
probtemas con el motor, deber&, vaciarse el
sistema de combustible antes de almacenar
el aparato por 30 dias o m#ts. Vacie el tanque
de combustible, ponga el motor en marcha y
dejeto en marcha hasta que las tineas de
combustible y el carburador queden vacios.

AVISO: Si el motor no arranca despues del
sexto tir6n de la cuerda de arranque (con la
palanca del cebador en la posici6n HALF
CHOKE), verifique que el interruptor ON/
OFF esta en la posici6n ON. Mueva la palan-
ca del cebador a la posici6n FULL CHOKE y
oprima el bombeador 6 veces; tire firme-
mente del mango de la cuerda de arranque
otras 2 veces. Mueva la palanca de1cebador
ala posici6n HALF CHOKE y tire de la cuerda
de arranque hasta que el motor se ponga en
maroha, pero no m&.s de 6 veces. Si el motor
no arranoa, probabiemente se enouentre
ahogado. Proceda con la seccion ARRAN-
QUE DE MOTOR AHOGADO.
8. Una vez que el motor arranca, permita que

OFF CHOKE. Permita que el motor marche
por otros 30 segundos con la palanca en la
posici6n OFF CHOKE, entonces suelte el
cierre del acelerador apretando y luego soF
tando el gatillo acelerador.
AVISO: Si el motor se cala con la patanca del
cebador en la posicion OFF CHOKE, mueva la
palanca ala posicion HALF CHOKE y tire de la
cuerda de arranque hasta que el motor se pon-
ga en marcha, pero no m&.sde 6 tirones.
PARA ARRANCAFI CON EL MOTOR
CALIENTE
1. Aseg0rese de que el interruptor ON/OFF
se encuentre en la posici6n ON.
2. Optima lentamente el bombeador 6 veces.
3. Mueva la palanca del cebador a la posi-
ci6n HALF CHOKE.
4. Accione el cierre del acelerador como se
iinstruye en la secci6n COMO ARRAN-
CAR UN MOTOR FRIO.
AVISO: Mantenga e} cierre del acelerador
accionado hasta que el motor arranca.
5. Tire firmemente de la cuerda de arranque
haste que el motor se ponga en marcha,
pero no [email protected]de 5 veces.
6. Permita que el motor marche por 10 se-
gundos, luego, mueva la palanca del ce-
bador ala posici6n OFF CHOKE.
7. Suelteelcierredelaceleradorapretandoy
soltando el gatillo acelerador.
AVISO: Si el motor no se ha puesto en
marcha, tire de la cuerda de arranque otras
5 veces. Si el motor persiste sin arrancar,
probablemente se encuentre ahogado. Pro-
ceda con la secci6n ARRANQUE DE MO-
TOR AHOGADO.
ARRANQUE DE MOTOR AHOGADO
Un motor que se encuentra ahogado se podr&
porter en marcha moviendo el interruptor
ON/OFF a la posici6n ON y la palanca del
cebedor a la posici6n OFF CHOKE accione el
cierre del acelerador como se muestra en la
secci6n PARA ARRANCAR CON MOTOR
FRIO; luego, tire de la cuerda de arranque pare
aclarar el motor del exceso de combustible.
Que el motor se ponga en marcha podr&
significar que se tire de la cuerda de arranque
muchas veces, dependiendo cu&n ahogado se
encuentre el motor. Si e} motor no arranca
despu@s de este procedimiento, yea la TABLA
DIAGNOSTICA o ilame al 1-800-554-6723.

Limpie el filtro de mire:
Los filtros de mire sucios disminuyen la vida
0til y el rendimiento del motor e incrementan
el consume de combustible y de emiciones
necivas. Umpie siempre el ffltro de mire
despues de cada 5 horas de uso.
• Limpie la tapa y la superficie alrededor de la
tapa para evitar que caiga suciedad e dese-
chosen el carburador cuando se saque la
tapa.
• Retire las piezas como se ilustra.
AVISO: Para evitar peligro de incendio y de
emiciones evaporativas nocivas, no Iimpie el ill-
tro de mire con gasolina ni cualquier otro sol-
vente inflammable.
• Limpie el filtro con agua y jabon.
• Permita que el _tro se seque.
• Aplique vadas gotas de aceite al filtro; ex-
prima el filtro para distribuir el aceite.
• Reponga las piezas.
INSPECCIONE LA REJILLA ANTI-
CHISPA Y EL SILENCIADOR
_ ADVERTENCIA: El silenciador en
este producto contiene las substancias
quimicas que el estado de California recon-
oce come oausantes de o&.noer.
A medida que se use el aparato, el silenciador
y la rejilla antichispas se van carbonizando.
Es necesario sacar Ia carbonizaci6n para evi-
tar el riesgo de incendio o afectar el rendi-
miento del motor.
Para et uso normal dei dueSo de la casa, el
silenciador y ia rejilla antichispa no requerir&`n
ning0n servicio. Despues de 50 horas de use.
recomendamos que al siienciador se le de
servicio o sea substituido por un su agente de
sercicio autorizado.
AJUSTE AL CARBURADOR
'_ ADVERTEN ClA: Mantengaa otras
personas alejadas de ia zona en donde se en-
cuentre haciendo ajustes de marcha lenta.
La cuchilla se mover&, durante la mayor parte
de este procedimiento. Use su equipo protec-
tor y observe todas las precauciones de se-
guridad. AI hacer ajustes, utilice un destornil-
lader corto para mantener sus manos detr&.s
del protector de mano y lejos de la cuchiHa.
Despues de finalizar con el precedimiento de
ajuste, la cuchilla deber&n parar de moverse
mientras el motor se encuentra a Ia velocidad
de marcha lenta.
El carburador ha sido ajustado cuidadosa-
mente en la f&.brica. Posiblemente sea nece-
sarie hacer ajustes si se nota cualquiera de
las siguientes condiciones:
•El motor no funciona en marcha lentacuan-
de se suelta el acelerador.
• La cuchilla se mueve en marcha lenta.
Mantenga a etras personas alejadas de la
zona en donde se encuentre haciendo
ajustes de marcha lenta. Haga los ajustes
mientras eIaparato descansa en una s uperfi-
cie plana libre de escombros que puedan en-
redarse en la cuchilla de la recortadora de se-
tos. Si el carburador no se ajusta de forma
apropiada puede causar graves heridas al
usuario u otras personas. Mantenga todas
las partes de su cuerpo alejadas de lacuchilla
y del silenciador.
Marcha Lenta
Deje el motor en marcha lenta. Ajuste _as re-
voluciones hasta que el motor se mantenga
en marcha sin que el cuchilla se muevan (la
marcha lenta es demasiado) o que el motor
se ahogue (la marcha lenta es demasiado
lenta).
• Gire el torniHo de marcha lenta hacia la dere-
cha para aumentar las revoluciones si el mo-
tor se ahoga o se para.
• Gire el tornilio de marcha lenta hacia ia iz-
quierda para reducir las revoluciones si la
cuchilla permanecieran moviendose mien-
tras el motor se enouentra en maroha lenta.
'_ ADVERTEN ClA: Vueiva a verificar
la marcha ienta despues de cada ajuste. La
cuchilla no deber&.n moverse cuando etmotor
se encuentra en marcha lenta para asi evitar
graves heridas al usuarie o a otras personas.

CAMBIE LA BUJIA
Deber#t cambiarse la bujia anuah_qente para
asegurarse que el motor arranque f_tciimente
y tenga un mejor rendimiento. Ajuste la
separaci6n de los electrodos a 0.025 de
pulgada. El encendido es fijo e inalterable.
1. Gire y saque la cubierta de la bujia.
2. Retire la bujia dei cilindro y desechela.
3. Cambiela por una bujia Champion RCJ-6Y y
ajuste firmemente la bujia nueva con una
Ilave de cubo de 3/4 de pulgada.
4. Instale nuevamente la cubierta de la bujia.
CAMBIE EL FILTRO DE
COMBUSTIBLE
Para cambiar el fiItro de combustible, vacie pot
compieto el tanque de combustible, entonces.
remueva ta tapa Y retentor de1tanque. 3qre del
filtro en el tanque y remuevalo de la linea de
combustible. Instale un _tro de combustible
nuevo en la linea de combustible y vuelva a
instatar las piezas.

_.ADVERTENCIA: Realice los
siguientes pasos despues de cada uso:
•Permita que el motor se enfrie y fije bien el
aparato antes de guardarlo o transportarlo.
• Guarde eI aparato y el combustible en un
lugar bien ventilado donde los vapores del
combustible no puedan entrar en contacto
con chispas ni llamas abiertas
provenientes de calentadores de agua,
motores o interruptores electricos.

ESTACIONAL ALMACENAJE
Prepare el aparato para almacenarlo al final
de la temporada o si no _ova a usar por mas
de 30 dias.
Siva a almacenar el aparato durante un
periodo largo de tiempo:
• Limpie el aparato por completo.
• Almacene en un Area limpia y seco.
• Limpie todas las piezas y verifique que no
haya da{fiadas sean reparadas o reempla-
zadas por su distribuidor autorizado del
servicio.
• Mantenga todas las tuercas, pernos y tor-
nillos firmemente apretados.
• Aplique una peque[_a cantidad de aceite alas
superficies extemas metAlicas, inclusive la
cuchilla.
Para aplicar aceite a la cuchilla, haga Io si-
guiente:
• Detenga e_motor y permita que la cuct_i_la
se detenga por completo.
• AsegOrese de que el interruptor ON/OFF
esta en posicion OFR
• Desconecte el cable de ta bujia.
• Aptique una pequeSa cantidad de aceite de
maquina alrededor del borde de la banda
superior como se ilustra.

Los estabilizadores de combustible son una aI-
ternativa aceptable para minimizar la formacion
de depositos de goma durante el almacenaje.
A[_ada estabilizador a la gasolina en el tanque
de combustible o en el recipiente para
almacenar el mismo. Siga las instrucciones de
mezcla que se encuentran impresas en el
envase. Ponga el motor en marcha y d6jelo en
marcha por unos 5 minutos despues de habede
puesto estabilizador.

haya tomillos, tuercas ni pemos suettos.

quebradas o gastadas.
• AI principio de la pr6xima temporada, use
exclusivamente combustible fresno con la
proporci6n correcta de gasotina a aceite.

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a
