Your Wel-Bilt Heat Gun has been designed for stripping paint, warm heat shrinking and virtually
perform any task where hot air is required. The Wel-Bilt Heat Gun is intended for DIY use only.
Warning! When using powered tools, basic safety precautions including the following should
always be followed to reduce risk of fire, electric shock, personal injury and material damage.
Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool off, in an emergency,
before operating the tool.
The electric motor has been designed for one voltage only. Always check that the power supply
corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
This tool is double insulated; therefore no ground wire is required. If the supply cord is
damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised Service Agent in order to
avoid a hazard.
Using an Extension Cord
Always use an approved extension cord suitable for the power input of this tool. Before use, inspect the
extension cord for signs of damage, wear and ageing. Replace the extension cord if damaged or defective.
When using an extension cord on a reel, always unwind the cord completely. Use of an extension cord
not suitable for the power input of the tool or which is damaged or defective may result in a risk of fire
and electric shock.
1. Keep work areas clean. Cluttered areas and benches can cause accidents.
2. Consider work area environment. Do not expose your tool to rain. Do not use your tool in
damp and wet conditions. Keep the work area well lit. Do not use your tool where there is a risk of
causing fire or explosion, e.g. in the presence of flammable liquids and gases.
3. Keep children away. Do not allow children, visitors or animals to come near the work area or to
touch the tool or power cord.
4. Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, as these can be caught in moving
parts. Preferably wear non-slip footwear when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to
keep long hair out of the way.
5. Head protection. Always use safety glasses. Use a face or dust mask whenever the operations may
produce dust or flying particles. Wear ear protection whenever the sound level seems uncomfortable.
6. Guard against electric shock. Prevent body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces (e.g.
pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators). Electric safety can be further improved by using a high
sensitivity (30 mA/30 mS) residual current device (RCD).
7. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
8. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate the tool when you are
tired.

9. Secure work piece. Use clamps or a vice to hold the work piece; it is safer as it frees both hands
to operate the tool.
10. Extension cords. Before use inspect the extension cords and replace if damaged. When using
the tool outdoors, only use extension cords intended for outdoor use.
11. Use appropriate tool. The intended use is described in this instruction manual. Do not force
small tools or attachments to do the job of a heavy duty tool. The tool will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was intended. Do not force the tool.
12 . Check for damaged parts. Before use carefully check the tool and power lead for damage.
Check for misalignment and seizure of moving parts, breakage of parts, damage to guards
and switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation. Ensure that the tool will
operate properly and perform its intended function. Do not use the tool if any parts are
damaged or defective. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Have any
damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorised repair agent. Never
attempt any repairs yourself.
13. Unplug the tool. Unplug the tool when it is not in use, before changing any parts of the tool,
accessories or attachments and before servicing.
14. Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry the tool with a finger on the on/off switch.
Be sure the tool is switched off when plugged in.
15. Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the tool by its cord or pull it to disconnect from the
socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
16. Store idle tools. When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry, locked up or high place, out
of reach of children.
17. Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance.
Follow the instructions for maintenance and changing accessories. Keep handles and switches
dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
18. Repairs. This tool complies with relevant safety requirements. Repairs should only be carried
out by qualified persons using original spare parts; otherwise this may result in considerable
danger to the user.
19. Users. This appliance is not intended for use by young or infirmed persons without supervision.
Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
20. The nozzle of the heat gun becomes very hot during operation. Do not touch until the tool has cooled.
21. Heat guns produce high temperatures and must be used with caution to prevent combustible
materials from igniting. Keep heat gun moving constantly to avoid igniting hidden materials
behind walls.
Warning! Use extreme care when stripping paint. The peelings, residue and vapors of
paint may contain lead, which is poisonous.
22. Do not direct nozzle toward hands, clothing or other people.

Warning! The use of any accessory or attachment or performance of any operation with this tool
other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury.

• Before start-up, make sure that the correct voltage is used.
• The power cord and plug must be in perfect condition.
• If the nozzle is hot or if you wish to have both hands free when working adjust the metal support
clip on the handle to allow the tool to stand in an upright position on its base. Making sure that the
air intake slots on the side of the base are not blocked.
Start-up
The machine must be switched off when it is connected to the main power supply.
ON/OFF switch - Heat Setting 1:
A low heat setting may be required in certain cases, e.g. to avoid overheating the workpiece’s surroundings
or to avoid displacing the workpiece if the airflow is too strong.
ON/OFF switch - Heat Setting 2:
A higher heat setting heats up the workpiece more quickly and enables the hot air gun to be held at a
greater distance from the workpiece.
WARNING! Danger of fire and explosion!
Inflammable and poisonous gases may be produced when working with plastics, paints (especially older
types of paint), varnishes and similar materials.
The ideal temperature should first be ascertained by performing a test. You should therefore start with a
low temperature setting. The working temperature can vary depending on the properties of the workpiece.
The distance between the nozzle and workpiece is dependent on the material to be processed.
Your heat guns performance can be enhanced by using specific nozzles attached to the front of your
heat gun. Below are some applications that can be achieved by using nozzles.
• Removing paint/dissolving adhesives
Soften the paint using hot air and remove evenly using a scraper.
Do not heat the paint for too long since this will burn the paint, making it more difficult to remove.
Many adhesives (e.g. stickers) become softer when heated, allowing adhesive bonds to be separated
and superfluous adhesive to be removed.
• Removing paint from windows
Glass can break easily. Always use a glass protection nozzle. On profiled surfaces, paint can be
removed using a scraper and brushed off using a soft wire brush.
•Shaping plastic tubing
Fit a reflector nozzle. To avoid kinking the tubing, fill the tubing with sand and seal at both ends.
Heat the tubing evenly by moving it from side to side.
• Staining wood
Fit a Cone Nozzle. Hot air staining gives natural wood a rustic effect.
Do not hold the nozzle too close to the wood as this will colour the wood unevenly. Carefully sand
off any singed wood fibres afterwards using fine emery paper.

• Shrink fitting
Fit a cone nozzle. Select a heat-shrinkable sleeve with a diameter matching that of the
workpiece, e.g. cable lug. Heat the heat-shrinkable sleeve evenly.
• Defrosting water pipes
Do not attempt to defrost- PVC piping.
Fit a reflector nozzle. Always heat the frozen area inwards from the edge to the center.
Note: Water pipes are often difficult to distinguish from gas pipes.
Copper pipes are joined using tin and should therefore not be heated above 200ºC.
• General
This tool is designed for indoor use only. Using this tool for prolonged periods may cause it to
overheat and malfunction. Use inside a confined area, such as a cabinet etc. will increase the
temperature of the tool – to ensure the tool does not overheat it is suggested frequent breaks are
taken to allow the tool to cool down.
• Element
Take extra care with the heat gun element. Once the element is hot it can become fragile and
break if dropped or knocked.
• Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your Heat Gun using a soft brush or dry cloth.
•Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive or solvent-
based cleaner.

MAINTENANCE
Before performing any any maintenance, switch off and unplug the tool. The nozzle will
remain hot for several minutes after the gun is turned off, so allow to cool sufficiently
before maintaining or storing.
