WEST User Manual
Scope of Coverage
The purpose of this manual is to provide a reference for all qualified Westport 15L System
technicians and field service personnel. This manual contains information on the Westport
Electronic Service Tool (WEST). WEST is a service tool to aid with diagnosing and repairing
faults on the Westport 15L System.
This manual contains material directly related to the use of WEST with the Westport 15L System.
For all diagnostic work performed, follow the procedures in the Westport 15L System Fault Code
Reference Manual and the Westport 15L System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Guide. For all
repair work performed, follow the Westport 15L Service Work Instructions. Replacement part
information can be obtained through the Westport 15L Service Part Drawings.

Chapter 1
Introduction
1.1 Overview
The Westport Electronic Service Tool (WEST) allows users to communicate
with the CM850 controllers on the EPA 07, EPA 10, ADR 80/02, and ADR
80/03 models of the Westport 15L System. WEST can be used to view and
export fault codes, flash the CM850 controllers, execute automated no-load
trim (ANT), and monitor system operations. This manual describes WEST
versions 4.4.1031 and later only.
1.1.1 v4.4.1031 Version Notes
The current version of WEST is v4.4.1031. The CANditioner calibration
process has been improved, the term ”download to controller” has been
changed to ”flash controller”, the flash times to the CM850 controllers have
been reduced, a new logo has been incorporated, and the fault code headers
and information can now be exported out of WEST.
1.2 Minimum Computer Requirements
WEST requires a notebook or PC computer which meets the following requirements:
•Processor Speed: 1.0 GHz
•RAM: 512Mb

•Hard Drive Size: 2Gb of free space
•Port: Built-in serial port or USB port
•Operating System: 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000, Windows
XP, or Windows 7. Windows 8 is not supported with this release.
1.3 WEST Package
The WEST package consists of the WEST software and a hardware communication
cable. Please visit the Westport service website for ordering information:

Getting Started with WEST
2.1 Introduction
WEST communicates with the CM850 controllers used by the Westport 15L
system. Both the software and hardware must be set up correctly to use
WEST.
2.2 Software Installation
2.2.1 Where to Get WEST
WEST is available for purchase on the Westport Service website:
http://service.westporthd.com
2.2.2 Installation Steps
a. Ensure that the computer is connected to the internet.
b. Extract the zip file downloaded from the Westport Service website.
c. Locate and double click setup.exe for WEST.
d. In the window that appears (Fig. 2.1), click Next.

e. Read the license agreement, and if you agree, click I Agree. Then
click Next (Fig. 2.2).
NOTE: WEST is registered to a specific user ID.
f. In the setting screen (Fig. 2.3), leave the default settings as they are,
and click Next.

g. Click Next in the Confirm Installation screen (Fig. 2.4).

h. Wait for the installer to complete the installation of WEST. When
the Installation Complete screen appears (Fig. 2.5), WEST has been
installed successfully. Click Close.

2.2.3 WEST Activation
Before WEST can be used, the software must be activated. Follow these
steps to obtain an activation code:
a. Double click on the WEST desktop icon to launch WEST (Fig. 2.6).

b. The License and Activation window should open (Fig. 2.7).

c. Visit the Westport Service website at http://service.westporthd.com,
and fill out the WEST Request Form.
