usage of photovoltaic does not produce harmful emissions to the environment.
There is no air and water pollution and during transforming the sun energy to
active current there is no noise.
Use all these advantages with the powerful solar module ST-10A(S).
Please read the safety instructions most carefully!
These instructions will make it easier for you to handle the device appropri-
ately and help prevent misunderstandings and possible damage or injury.

Sicherheitshinweise
Diese Bedienungsanleitung gehört zu diesem Produkt. Sie enthält
wichtige Hinweise zur Inbetriebnahme und Handhabung. Bitte legen Sie
die Bedienungsanleitung dem Produkt bei, wenn Sie es an Dritte weiter-
geben!
Lassen Sie Verpackungsmaterial nicht achtlos herumliegen. Plastiktüten
etc. können zu einem gefährlichen Spielzeug für Kinder werden.
Für die Installation und den Betrieb dieses Solarmoduls sind die
Sicherheitsvorschriften der Elektroindustrie zur Installation von Kompo-
nenten und Systemen zu beachten.
Betreiben Sie das Solarmodul nicht direkt an einer Batterie.
Schalten Sie zwischen Solarmodul und einer Batterie einen Lade-
regler.Somit wird verhindert, dass die angeschlossene Batterie
(Verbraucher) beschädigt wird. Einen geeigneten Laderegler finden Sie
bei Westfalia unter der Artikel Nr. 36 15 27.
Selbst bei minimaler Beleuchtung ist fast die maximale Leerlaufspan-
nung zu berücksichtigen.
Bei einer seriellen Verschaltung mehrere Solarmodule addiert sich die
elektrische Spannung.
Arbeiten an Elektroanlagen dürfen nur durch geeignetes Fachpersonal
ausgeführt werden. Decken Sie bei Arbeiten am Solarmodul dieses ab
oder trennen Sie den Verbraucher von der Schaltung. Trennen Sie keine
Steckverbindungen, Klemmen und stromführenden Teile der Anlage
wenn diese unter Last steht. Es können gefährliche Lichtbögen entste-
hen.
Das Solarmodul muss entsprechend als Glasmodul behandelt werden
und ist nicht begehbar.
Beachten Sie bitte zur Vermeidung von Fehlfunktionen,
Schäden und gesundheitliche Beeinträchtigungen folgende

Hinweise
Vermeiden Sie jegliche Art von Beschattung um den höchstmögliche
Energieertrag zu erhalten. Bei einer Installation in Bodennähe sollte ein
minimaler Abstand von 20 cm oder mehr von der Modulkante zur Bepflan-
zung eingehalten werden, um eine Beschattung zu vermeiden.
Richten Sie die Vorderseite des Solarmoduls immer in Richtung Sonne
während der Mittagszeit aus. Das bedeutet auf der nördlichen Halbkugel
nach Süden und auf der südlichen Halbkugel nach Norden.
Halten Sie bei einer Montage auf einem Flachdach einen minimalen
Abstand von 50 cm, von der unteren Kante des Moduls zum Dach, ein.
Wenn Sie das Solarmodul ohne Sonnennachführung einsetzen, sollte der
Aufstellwinkel des Moduls entsprechend des Breitengrades des Ortes
gewählt werden. Der Aufstellwinkel zur Horizontalen sollte mindestens 10°
betragen, um die Selbstreinigung des Moduls zu ermöglichen.
Montage
Um das Solarmodul permanent zu Installieren, sollte eine fachmännische
Modulaufnahme verwendet werden. Benutzen Sie ausschließlich die
vorgesehenen Befestigungsbohrungen für die Montage. Der Modulrahmen
darf nicht angebohrt, genagelt oder geschweißt werden. Verwenden Sie
nur korrosionsgeschützte Befestigungselemente um das Solarmodul zu
installieren.
Benutzen Sie zur einfachen Montage von vorne die mitgelieferten
Befestigungswinkel. Diese Winkel werden einfach mit dem Modulrahmen
und den 4 vorgebohrten Löchern (A) verbunden.
Achten Sie darauf, dass das Modul frei von mechanischer Beanspruchung,
wie z.B. Verwindung durch die Befestigung am Modulrahmen, ist.
Berücksichtigen Sie die Materialausdehnung aufgrund von Temperaturein-
flüssen. Halten Sie deshalb einen Abstand von 5 mm zum nächsten
Solarmodul ein.
Benutzen Sie zum elektrischen Anschluss nur Kabel die im Freien
verwendet werden können. Achten Sie beim Anschluss immer auf die
richtige Polarität.
Achten Sie bei Installation an einer gefährdeten Stelle auf einen ausrei-
chenden Blitzschutz.

Installieren Sie das Modul mit der Anschlussdose nach oben. Installations-
kabel die nach oben ausgeführt werden, müssen mit einer Tropfschlaufe
versehen werden. Damit verhindern Sie ein Eindringen von Regenwasser
in die Anschlussdose.
Kabelanschluss
Auf der Rückseite befindet sich die An-
schlussdose (B). Entfernen Sie die Schraube
mit einem passenden Schraubendreher.
Führen Sie das Anschlusskabel durch die
untere Öffnung und befestigen Sie es mit der
Zugentlastung.
In der Anschlussdose befinden sich zwei
Anschlussklemmen. Die Polarität ist in der
Anschlussdose mit einem Pluspol und einem
Minuspol gekennzeichnet. Wenn Sie sich bei
der Polarität unsicher sind, nehmen Sie ein
Multimeter zur Hand und messen Sie an den
Anschlussklemmen nach. Richten Sie dabei
das Solarmodul zur Sonne aus.
Schließen Sie die Solarkabel mit Hilfe eines
Kabelschuhs an die Klemmen an. Möglich
wäre auch ein Anlöten der Kabel.
Um die Anschlussdose wieder zu verschlie-
ßen, setzen Sie den Deckel wieder auf und ziehen Sie die Schraube wieder
an.
Wartung und Pflege
Verschmutzungen der Oberfläche reduziert den Lichteinfall auf die
Solarzellen und vermindern somit den Energieertrag des Solarmoduls.
Reinigen Sie deshalb bei starker Verschmutzung das Glas mit einem
haushaltsüblichen Glasreiniger. Um Kratzer zu vermeiden, verwenden Sie
reichlich Wasser und eine weiche Bürste oder einen Lappen.
Überprüfen Sie in regelmäßigen Abständen die elektrischen Anschlüsse
auf Beschädigung, Korrosion und festen Sitz.

Notes
This manual belongs to the product. It contains important notes on
operating the unit. Please pass it on along with the unit if it is handed
over to a third party!
Do not leave packaging materials lying around. Plastic bags etc. may
become a deadly toy for children.
For installation and maintenance of solar modules, the regulations and
safety instructions valid for the installation of electrical components and
electrical systems have to be observed.
Do not operate the solar module directly on a battery. Connect between
the solar module and a battery a charge regulator. By doing this you
avoid damaging the connected battery (consumer). A suitable charge
regulator can be ordered from Westfalia under the article no. 36 15 27.
Even in case of minimum illumination the total open-circuit voltage has to
be considered.
If many modules are connected in series, the voltage of the individual
modules will add up.
Only qualified personnel are allowed to work on electrical systems.
When working on the solar module, either properly cover the module up
or disconnect from the consumer. Never disconnect plug-in connections,
terminals and conducting parts of the unit while there are under load.
Dangerous electric arcs can be produced.
Treat the solar module as a glass product. Do not walk on it.
Please note the following notes to avoid malfunctions, damage
and injuries:

Avoid any form of shading in order to achieve the highest possible yield. If
you install the module on stands, the minimum distance of the bottom edge
of the module to the grass turf has to be 20 cm or more in order to avoid
shading.
Adjust the front side of the solar module directly towards the position of the
sun at noontime. That means the solar module has to be directed in the
northern hemisphere to the south and in the southern hemisphere towards
the north.
While setting up the solar module on top of flat roofs, the minimum distance
between the bottom edge of the module and the roof has to be 50 cm.
If you do not apply tracking, select the inclination angle of the solar module
approx. according to the latitude of the installation site. The inclination
angle has to be at least 10° to the horizon in order to ensure self-cleaning
of the module.
Assembly
For permanent module installation mount a professionally module base.
Only use the existing mounting holes for assembling. Do not drill holes into
the module frame or nail and weld on it. Only use corrosion-proof materials
to install the module.
For easy mounting of the module from the front side, use the included
fastening brackets. Connect the brackets with the module frame and the
4 pre-drilled holes.
Make sure, the module is assembled free of mechanical stress e. g. any
form of material expansion of the module frame.
Due to temperature fluctuations material expansion can occur. For that
reason, keep a distance of at least 5 mm to the next solar module.
For electrical connection, only use suitable cables for outdoor installations.
While connecting, always observe the right polarity.
Provide sufficient lightning protection when installing in exposed areas.
Install the module with the connection-box facing upwards. Installation
cables that are assembled face up have to be protected with a drip elbow.
Make sure that no rainwater can enter into the connection-box.

Cable Connection
The connection-box sits on the backside.
Remove the screw with a suitable screwdriver.
Slide the connection cable through the upper
opening and mount the cable with the stress
relief.
In the connection-box you will find two
terminals. The polarity in the connection-box
is labelled with a minus pole and a plus pole.
If you are not sure about the correct polarity,
use a multi meter to measure the terminals
and determine the resp. poles. Direct the solar
module towards the sun.
Connect the solar cable with cable shoes onto
the terminals. You can also solder the cable
on the terminals.
To close the connection-box, place the lid and
tighten the screws.
Maintenance and Care
Soiling on the front-side of the glass surface will reduce the incidence of
light onto the solar cells and this will decrease the output of electrical
power.
In case of heavy soiling, clean the glass with usual glass cleaners. To avoid
scratching the glass surface, use plenty of water and a soft brush or a
cloth.
Check the electrical cables at regular intervals for any form of damage or
corrosion and for firm fit on the cable connections.
