CONNECTIONS/ WIRING
Using the WPL-26 is easy. You simply plug in your signal cables from your mixer, CD/DVD/MP3
player, iPod or other source to the Channel (A or B) inputs and your line level signal cables to each
amplier via outputs 1 – 6.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED AN AMPLIFIER FOR EACH OUTPUT OF THE WPL-26 WHEN
USING PASSIVE SPEAKERS, ACTIVE SPEAKERS CAN BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE
WPL-26. DO NOT CONNECT PASSIVE LOUDSPEAKERS DIRECTLY TO THE WPL-26, THE
IMPEDANCE MISMATCH CAN DESTROY THE OUTPUT STAGE OF THE WPL-26. THIS WILL
INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY AND REQUIRE REPAIR TO THE UNIT.
To create a fair and useful comparison between sets of speakers it is important to apply correct gain
structure. Please use the procedure below to ensure that all ampliers have equal output levels.
Make sure that you are using suitable cables as an unbalanced cable will drop the signal level by
6dB when compared to a balanced cable.
SETUP
0Start with all volume and gain controls set to minimum
0Start your source material
0Raise the volume of your sources to an optimum level
0If using two sources balance the output levels of each unit
0 Raise the output levels of each amplier so that they are equal in output
Using a test tone (For example a 1000Hz sine wave) can help you to set the levels correctly as the
human ear nds it easier to evaluate the volume of a test tone compared to musical material.
Take extra care when setting the levels of ampliers and speakers with different impedances, as
lower impedance speakers can be much louder when used with similar amplier settings.
IR REMOTE SETUP
In many showroom environments the electronics rack may be out of the line of sight of the
demonstration area, creating a situation where it can be problematic to change the speaker
selection. The WPL-26 comes complete with a wireless IR remote control and a receiver with a 6m
cable.
Place the IR receiver in the demonstration area, ideally near to the speakers that will be used in the
demonstration, and route the cable to the input on the back of the WPL-26. With this simple setup
you no longer have to leave the demonstration area to switch to a different set of speakers.
