RJ45 Breakout Box
The Whirlwind Catdusa provides a
convenient way to use Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable
for transmitting analog audio, AES/EBU digital
audio or DMX lighting control. Plug a Catdusa box
onto each end of a cable terminated with RJ45
connectors and use XLR audio wires to connect to
equipment.

There are four circuits on the Catdusa box, using the
four twisted pairs of the Cat cable. Each circuit has
male and female XLR connectors allowing for easy
bidirectional signal configurations. Two RJ45 jacks
wired in parallel are provided for daisy-chaining
applications.
The internal wiring of the Catdusa follows the T568
standard:
PIN 1 from all eight XLR connectors are tied
together and terminate at the shield connection of
the RJ45 jacks. Shielded Cat5 or Cat6 must be used
for connection of PIN 1 from box to box and to pass
phantom power to condenser microphones.

This product is guaranteed for 3 years from the date of purchase against
manufacturing defects. For warranty service, return the unit, along with the

postage prepaid. We will repair or replace the unit at our option and pay the
return postage.
