INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek MegaView70. The MegaView70 is a
programmable modulator which converts audio- and video signals of for instance your DVD-
player, satellite receiver, VCR, surveillance camera, decoder, set top box or PC and adds them
asanextraTVchannelonyourantennacable.Thenyoucanwatchthissignalasakind
of internal TV-channel everywhere in your home assumed there is an antenna connection.
Thanks to the built-in “infrared return channel” you can continue to operate the connected
appliances from other rooms using your own remote control.

1. APPLICATION AND OPERATION MEGAVIEW70
The antenna cable is, as you could say, looped through the modulator. The incoming antenna
signalisconnectedtotheantennaconnection,besidesthatyoucanconnectanA/Vdeviceof
your choice to the input on the MegaView70. The outgoing antenna signal then carries both
the standard antenna signal and the added Audio/Video-signal (of for instance a DVD-player
orAV-camera).OneveryTVconnectedtothisantennasystemafter the modulator (‘RF
OUT’ of your MegaView70) the added Audio/Video-signal can be watched on the selected
channel.Youdonotneedtomakeanychangestotherestofyourantennanetwork.
One infrared receiver is supplied as standard. Additional receivers can be purchased should
youwishtooperateyourequipmentfromdifferentrooms.Theinfraredreturnchannelonly
works with amplifiers, splitters and aerial wall outlets that are return channel compatible.
Compatiblecomponentsareusuallymarked‘5-30MHz’or‘5-68MHz’.Youraerialspecialist
can provide more information on this.
The modulator itself has no influence on the strength of the signal. The maximum length of
thecablestobeusedisdeterminedbythepresentcablenetworkinyourhome.Ifyouwant
toconnectmultipleTVsetsorwanttousealongercable,weadviceyoutouseanamplifier/
splitter.Yourantennamaterialsuppliercanadviceyouinthis.

3. CONNECTING THE DEVICE TO
THE MEGAVIEW70 MODULATOR
Switch off all devices before you start connecting. Then connect the device you want to
connect (for instance the DVD-player or AV-camera) to the MegaView70. You can connect
thedevicewithaSCARTcableoracinchcable.Useoneofthetwopossibilitiesmentioned
below.
Connecting an A/V appliance via SCART (1)
Youcanusethe‘SCARTconnection’onthemodulatortoaddthevideo-andaudiosignal
desiredtotheantennasignal.YoucanuseaSCARTcable(notincluded)andyouconnectthis
tothe‘A/VIN’oftheMegaView70.
Tip:Seechapter8Extraoptionsforthepossibilitytoconnectmultipledevices
Connecting an A/V appliance via cinch cable and scart adapter(1)
Anysocalledcompositevideo-andaudiosignalcanbeconnectedtothemodulator.For
this you can use the cinch cable and scart adapter(included).Makesurethecoloursofthe
plugsandthesocketsarecorresponding.Thatmeansredtored,whitetowhiteandyellow
to yellow.
A/V appliance via SCART to TV (2)
The‘A/VOUT’connectiononyourMegaView70offersyouthepossibilitytoconnectnotonly
the signal of your A/V devices to the antenna signal, but to also loop it to a TV set via SCART
(forwatchingdevicesviatheSCART-inputinsteadofviatheTVtuner).
Attention: This connection only transfers the A/V signal of the connected device back to the
TVsetandnottheotherTVchannels.

TwotypesofaerialplugareusedinEurope:theIECplugandtheFplug.Thelatterhasthe
least loss and is therefore often used in better quality systems. Your Marmitek MegaView70
uses this type of plug.

Connecting an antenna cable RF IN (3)
Connecttheexistingantennacabletothe‘RFIN’connectoroftheMegaView70.Depending
onthecurrentsituationyoumayneedtodisconnectsomeofthecablesbeforeyoucan
connect the antenna.
Connecting an antenna cable to RF OUT (4)
Connectyourantenna-networktothe‘RFOUT’oftheMegaView70.
Ifyouwanttowatchthissignalatmultipleplaces,youmustuseasplitterinyournetwork
(your supplier of antenna materials can advice you in this). On every television connected to
the antenna system after the modulator the added audio/video signal can be watched on
the selected channel (see display).
Connection antenna cable ToTV (5)
Connectthe‘ToTV’oftheMegaView70totheantenna input of the TV using an antenna
cable(notsupplied).
Tips:
• Makesuretheconnectorsarefittedproperlytothecoaxcable.
• Usehighfrequencyshieldedconnectorstopreventradiationandinterference.
• Useonlybroadbandamplifiersandsplitterswitharangeof5-1000MHz.

5. SELECTING THE CHANNEL
TheaddedAudio/Video-signal(offorinstanceaDVD-playerorAV-camera)isconvertedinto
anormalTV-channel.
With the MegaView70 you can actually choose every free channel. It is important to choose
afreechannel,whichisnotyetinusebyanexistingTV-channel.Whichchannelsarefree
dependsontheincomingantennasignal.Forthis,consultthechannelchartprovidedbyyour
cablecompany,orifyouhaveyourownantenna,thechanneloverviewinyourTV-guide.
1. Connect the power adapter to the modulator and plug this in the socket.
2. Take your channel chart and look for two free adjacent channels. Then you choose the
higher of these two channels. Example: when channel 37 and 38 are free, you should
choose channel 38. With three free adjacent channels, you should choose the middle one.
3. PresstheModekeyafewtimesuntilyousee‘CH’appearonthedisplay.Then‘CH’will
disappear again and a number will appear. Use the Vand the Wkeysontopofthe
modulator to select the chosen channel. The illuminated digital display on top of the panel
showsthischannel.
4. NowswitchonthedesiredA/Vdevice(DVD,VCR,satellitereceiver,PC,camera,etc.).
5. TurnontheTV,andfindtheselectedchannel.Howtodothiscanbereadinthemanual
ofyourTV.Ifyoucannotselectchannelsonyour TV set, but only frequencies, you can
look this up in the enclosed table in the back of this manual. This set channel now shows
the connected A/V device and from now on you can watch this on the channel you
selected.
6. NowcheckifthereisnointerferenceontheTV-channelscloseby.Ifthereis,youneedto
findtwo(orifpossiblethree)otherfreechannelsandsetthemodulatortothatone.
IfyouhavemultipleTVsetsinyourhome(connectedtothesameantennanetwork),then
you can watch this signal on the other TV sets as well. However first you need to set the right
channeloneveryTV.

The MegaView70 comes with default settings for use in the most common situations. If your
situationisdifferent,youcanchangethesettingsmentionedbelow.

7. SETTING THE INFRARED RETURN CHANNEL
FOR USING REMOTE CONTROL
An infrared receiver is supplied with this set. This receiver can be placed between the TV and
the antenna signal. The receiver receives the infrared signal from your remote control and
sendsthissignalthroughtheantennacablebacktotheMegaView70modulator.
WiththesuppliedIRextensioncableyoucanchangethisbackintoaninfraredsignalandpass
ittothedeviceconnected.Thiswayyoucanoperatethisdevice(forinstanceaDVD-player)
from another room.
Connecting the infrared return channel is easiest if you do this together with another
person.

1. ConnectthesuppliedIRextensioncabletothesideofthemodulator(6).TheIRLEDhas
aselfadhesivebackside.RemovetheprotectionsheetandcarefullysticktheIRLEDon
theIRsensorofyourA/Vdevice.ThisIRsensorcanberecognizedfromthedarkcolored
synthetic window.

2. Disconnect the antenna cable, which can be found at the back of your TV. Connect this
to the ‘In’-connector of the IR receiver (metal housing) (7).
3. Connectthe‘ToTV’-sidetoyourTV(8).Ifnecessaryyoucanusethesuppliedadapters
(F-connector to IEC).
4. PlacetheblackhousingoftheIRreceiver(withtheinfraredreceiverinit)sothatitisin
sightofyourremotecontrolwhenyouareusingthis(9).Avoiddirectsunlightorlightfrom
aplasma-orLCD-screen.
5. ConnectoneofthesuppliedpoweradapterstotheIRreceiver(metalhousing).
6. NowpointyourremotecontrolattheIRreceiverandpressabuttontochangethechannel
or function. The device connected should now respond. If not, move the IR receiver a bit
and try again. The position of the IR LEDs can be pretty precise.
7. AssoonasthisfunctionsproperlyyoucansticktheIRLEDfirmlytothedevice.Thiswill
not damage your device.
You can switch the MegaView70 modulator on and off (to save power) by pressing the switch
ontheIRreceiverforafewseconds.Noimagewillbevisibleatthechannelyouchoseand
the LED display will show “- -”. To switch the modulator on again you have to repeat this
action.
Tips:
WhenyouwanttooperateyourdevicesfrommultipleTVs,youcanpurchaseextrainfrared
receivers (chapter 8).

8. EXTRA OPTIONS
Extra IR receiver (38 or 56 kHz)
When you want to operate your devices in multiple rooms, you can purchase extra infrared
receivers (art. no. 09814 for the standard 38 kHz receiver).
Yourremotecontrolmightworkwithaninfraredfrequencythatdiffersfromthemostoften
used standards. In this case you can order an extra IR receiver (art. no. 09813), which uses a
56 kHz frequency.
Connecting multiple devices
• Do you want to connect multiple A/V devices? With the Connect 236 you can connect
allofyourdevicestoyourMegaView70withjustonecable,preservingthequality.
• You can also connect a second A/V device using a second MegaView70.Byselecting
anotherTVchannelonityoucanwatchbothdevicesatdifferentplaces.
A/V Camera
Do you want a more comfortable and safer feeling in and around your house? With the
MegaCam1 you can keep an eye on your house, garden, garage and driveway. Connect this
to your MegaView70 and you can watch these images on all TV’s within your coax network.

9. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No image, no sound
• Checkifallcablesareconnectedproperly.
• Checkifthechannelissetcorrectly.
The MegaView70 picture is interfered and all the other channels are o.k.
TheremightbeaTVchanneltooclosetotheselectedMegaView70channel.Chooseanother
channel for the MegaView70 (preferably the middle one of three or if possible five free
channels).
Infrared does not work
a.CheckthattheIRLEDisinthecorrectpositiononthesensor.
b.Checkthatthemetalpartoftheinfraredreceiveriscorrectlyconnected.
c. Check that the aerial wall outlets, aerial amplifiers and splitters that are fitted IN the cabling
betweenyourbedroomandlivingroomare‘returnchannel’compatible(5-30MHz).
If none of the options above offers the solution, your remote control probably uses a different
infrared frequency. Instead of the standard 38 kHz receiver you can also order a 56 kHz
receiver (art. no. 09813).
