Introduction

Intel® E3845 4 LAN 1 COM AES-NI 4G Fanless Firewall Router MNHO-073

PONDESK PICO PC 4 LAN fanless firewall router security gateway appliance equipped with

the quad-core Intel® Atom™ E3845 processor up to 1.91GHz with Intel® AES-NI for secure

and fast data encryption and decryption. A complete network hub as a VPN with RJ45

console port and to take on a number of networking and communication tasks. Protected

from meltdown and spectre vulnerabilities.

Small network appliance with 4x Intel® I211-AT gigabit Ethernet for high bandwidth and fast

communications. Also support wireless networks 802.11 b/g/n/AC WiFi and WWAN 3G & 4G

LTE (optional). Ready for IoT (Internet of Things) by simply connecting using WiFi, 3G/4G

LTE via mini PCIe (can use only one network connection at a time). I/O options include two

USB2.0 & USB 3.0 ports and VGA display port features Intel® HD Graphics. Compatible with

Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server, Linux & Firewalls etc.

Support up to 8GB SODIMM DDR3L 1.35V low voltage non-ECC single sided memory and

dual storage drives including mSATA SSD and 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD.

High performance & perfect for VPN, DNS Server, DHCP Server, network bandwidth

controller, network servers, LAN or WAN router, firewall and UTM applications to deliver a

high throughput, reliable operation and wide array of network applications, network

servers, Linux, Unix, Windows, firewalls (either open-source or commercial) and gateways;

pfSense, Sophos, Untangle, Ubuntu, ClearOS, FreeBSD, Monowall, Debian, Endian,

Smothwall UTM, OpenBSD, Zeroshell, Zentyal, OpenWRT and VyOS etc.

You can add multiple LAN's or multiple WLAN's to your network, each segmented for

maximum security and configurability. It combines a robust industrial-grade performance

and the advantages of network security management, can be widely used in virtual private

networks, traffic control, network firewalls or other network applications.

excellent ventilation and heat dissipation. Compact, lightweight, stylish and durable. Just 5.3

inches by 5 inches by 1.6 inches. Support 2.5" 7mm SATA SSD/HDD.

2.2 OPENING THE CASE

There are 4 screws (two screws on each sides) for holding the case cover.

Remove the case. By unscrewing these screws, to add or remove SSD, memory etc. Don’t

over-tighten the screws, it causes damage the screw holes.

PONDESK PICO PC 4 LAN Firewall router equipped with low power Nano-ITX (12*12 cm)

industrial motherboard equipped with embedded Baytrail series quad-core E3845

processor.

Following figure shows the top interfaces of the motherboard. In the process of installation

of the device must be careful for some part, if not properly installed, it will not work

properly.

3.1 LAYOUT

3.2 PROCESSOR

The system is equipped with onboard Intel Atom® Processor

E3845 (2M Cache, 1.91 GHz) processor powered by the Intel® Bay

Trail series chipset. Features Intel® AES-NI encryption allowing

data to be completely protected from the moment.

3.3 MEMORY

There is one SO-DIMM slot, which supports up to 8GB of DDR3L SODIMM 204Pins 1.35V low

voltage single sided memory.

NOTE: The system doesn’t support ECC & 1.5V DDR3 memory, always use non-ECC 1.35V DDR3L memory.

3.3.1 Installation

Step 1: Turn off the system before installing and removing the memory.

Step 2: Align the notch and insert the memory module into the socket at a slight 30-40°

angle relative to the memory slot.

Step 3: Push down the memory until it slips down and properly seated into the socket.

3.4 STORAGE

The system supports dual storage drives including 1 x mSATA SSD & 1 x 2.5" 7mm SATA

SSD/HDD.

3.4.1 mSATA SSD

Turn off the machine and remove the chassis cover.

Locate mSATA socket (refer to the image on page 14) on the motherboard and align the

notches of the SSD with mSATA socket and insert it.

After that screw it according to the below illustrations.

3.4.2 2.5” SATA SSD/HDD

PICO PC also support 1 x 2.5” SATA SSD OR 2.5” SATA HDD (7mm) secondary storage.

To add 2.5” SSD in the machine, first remove the case cover and locate the SSD/HDD holes.

(please refer to page # 12 & 13)

First attach SSD/HDD with the case cover by the 4 screws and then connect the SATA data

& power cable with the machine. As shown in below image.

3.5 Wi-Fi & 3G/4G

The system supports wireless or 3G/4G LTE networks.

There is one mini PCIe slot for WiFi or 3G/4G LTE module.

3.5.1 Wi-Fi

PICO PC support 802.11 b/g/n/ac half mini PCI-E

wireless module.

3.5.2 3G/4G LTE

System support 3G/4G LTE networks. There is 6pin SIM interface for WWAN connectivity.
