Decommissioning—ProperRecyclingand
DisposalofFluidsandComponents
Safetyandenvironmentalstewardshipmeasuresmust
betakenintoaccountwhendecommissioningamachine
and/orcomponent.Thesemeasuresincludethefollowing:
•Useappropriatetoolsandpersonalprotective
equipmentsuchasclothing,gloves,faceshieldsor
glasses,duringtheremovalorhandlingofobjectsand
materials.
•Followinstructionsforspecializedcomponents.
•Releasestoredenergybyloweringsuspendedmachine
elements,relaxingsprings,disconnectingthebattery
orotherelectricalpower,andreleasingpressurein
hydrauliccomponents,accumulators,andothersimilar
systems.
•Minimizeexposuretocomponentswhichmayhave
residuefromagriculturalchemicals,suchasfertilizers
andpesticides.Handleanddisposeofthese
componentsappropriately.
•Carefullydrainengines,fueltanks,radiators,hydraulic
cylinders,reservoirs,andlinesbeforerecycling
components.Useleak-proofcontainerswhendraining
fluids.Donotusefoodorbeveragecontainers.
•Donotpourwastefluidsontotheground,downadrain,
orintoanywatersource.
•Observeallnational,state,andlocallaws,regulations,
orordinancesgoverningthehandlingordisposalof

acertifiedservicecentertorecoverandrecycleair
conditioningrefrigerantswhichcoulddamagethe
atmosphereifallowedtoescape.
•Evaluaterecyclingoptionsfortires,metal,plastic,
glass,rubber,andelectroniccomponentswhichmaybe
recyclable,inpartorcompletely.
•Contactyourlocalenvironmentalorrecyclingcenter,or
yourJohnDeeredealerforinformationontheproper
waytorecycleordisposeofwaste.

CAUTION:Underfederal,state,andlocallawsor
