1 Introduction
Please follow the instructions in this manual to mount the vipPAQ on a press.
This manual assumes that on both sides of the press, the area to mount vipPAQ is
prepared. The 4 holes (2 on each side) do not need to be drilled yet.

4 Cut the Mounting Bar
If the mounting bar is not already precut to the correct length, proceed as followed:
1. Measure the exact distance (+/- 0.5 mm) between the foreseen mounting
areas.
2. Subtract 82mm (3.23“) from the measured distance
3. Precisely cut the bar to that length
4. Insert and clew bolt and roll according to the below drawing. Use “Loctite 648
or similar to clew the parts.
This graph shows one end of the bar. The other end needs to be equal.

5 Mounting Preparation
There needs to be two threaded holes suitable for M10 screws on both the left and
the right side of the press. If these 2 holes are not yet drilled, proceed as followed:
1. Mount the 2 vipPAQ distance holders at the outer limits of the mounting bar.
2. Mount the bushings at both vipPAQ mounting plates
3. Mount the 2 vipPAQ mounting plates at both sides of the mounting bar
4. Put this assembled system to the guide roller and mark the upper hole and the
outside edge of the mounting plates on the foreseen mounting area.
5. Take the assembled system from the guide roller
6. Verify the marked mounting plate position with the foils, delivered with the
vipPAQ system (see also figure 1 on next page) and mark the second hole on
both sides additionally.
7. Drill the 4 holes (2 on each side) for the M10 screws. You can either use the
screw with a nut or tab a thread.

6 Mount the Mounting Plates
Two M10 screws are used to fix each mounting plate in the correct position (see
image below). Do not fully tighten up the screws, because the position will later be
adjusted by using distance holders.

7 Mount the Mounting Bar
1. Insert the measurement head retainers at the lower small side of the mounting
bar (Number of retainers is depending on amount of measurement heads, but
at least 2 need to be inserted for the installation).
2. Insert the operating lever retainer in the upper rail slot of the measuring on the
front wide side.

3. Insert the mounting bar (with all the retainers inserted) in the lower parts of the
mounting plate bushings.

4. Insert the upper parts of the bushings and screwed them firmly in place.
5. The distance between the mounting bar and the mounting plates must be
equal on both sides. The sideward movement of the bat needs also to be
minimal and may not be too tight.
To adjust the mounting bar, it needs to be taken away and the screw in the
hole of the mounting plates needs to be adjusted on one side.

8 Position the Mounting Bar
1. Mount the distance holders (both sides)
2. Put the mounting bar in the measuring position and insert the measuring bolts
(both sides). The mounting bar is in the correct position when the measuring
bolts and distance holders touch the roller (both sides).
3. Tighten up the lower mounting plate screws (both sides).
4. Remove the measuring bolts and distance holders, tilt the tilting unit upwards
and tighten up the upper mounting plate screws (both sides).

9 Completion
1. Mount the measuring heads
2. Adjust the position screws on the measurement head(s). With this the switch to
lock/unlock the head upon the tilting of the measurement head gets adjusted).
a. Loose slightly the screw beside the position screw (red arrow)
b. Rotate the position screw, until the slit (green marked) is vertical and
the metal bolt is on top.
c. Tighten the screw beside the position screw (red arrow)
3. Connect the appropriate cable to the measuring heads and controller unit.
4. Lay the cables to the measuring heads in the rail slot. Fasten the cables with the
enclosed O-rings approximately all 10 cm / 4 inches.
Upon this, please make sure the cable length at the head is enough long to move
the heads later on.
5. Connect the controller unit to the PC’s USB interface and to the power supply.
6. Tighten up the screws on the operating lever.
Maximal cable lengths:
•Max. length PC – USB converter: 2 m
•Max. length USB converter – Controller: 50 m
•Max. length controller - Measurement head: 3 m
