3.5 System Environment
3.5.1 Overview of Software for Operation, Alarm Verification, and
Configuration
CamDisc HNVR is a standalone unit. Once installed and configured, it reacts to events, records these on a
continuous or on an event-triggered basis, transmits video and/or audio data, alarms to local and remote
receiver units, and additionally logs protocols locally. Only one of the following software packets, developed
by HeiTel especially for CCTV applications, is required for the PC based receiver/evaluation unit.
lCamControl LITE (part of CamDisc HNVR delivery) software for operation, alarm verification, and
configuration for single workstations with up to 6000 transmitters CamDisc HNVR, CamServer,
Cam4mobile, CamDisc, CamTel and/or CamLine. CamControl LITE software is used for setting up the
CamDisc HNVR.
lCamControl PRO software for operating, alarm verification and configuration of single workstation
applications. Enables simultaneous viewing of up to 9 transmitters. Maximum 6000 transmitters
(CamDisc HNVR, CamServer, Cam4mobile, CamDisc, CamTel and/or CamLine.
lCamControl PLAYER (included in CamDisc HNVR delivery) software for replay and evaluation of
CamDisc HNVR, Cam4mobile, CamDisc and PC archives, and integral part of CamControl LITE and
CamControl PRO. PC Kit CamDisc HNVR USB - external USB adapter - enables hard disk evaluation in
offline mode.
Note: Information on other software solutions, in particular for integration into higher-level control centres
such as HeiTel's Event Management System(EMS) or the video wall software CamControl MV, is
available on request.

3.6 Controls, Indicators, and Ports
3.6.1 Front View and Description
Item Labeling/description Function
1 Main power switch,
not labelled
Switch On/Off
CamDisc HNVR will be initialised after switch on. Depending on configuration,
this may take up to 45 seconds. Avoid switching on immediately followed by
switching off. This may lead to loss of data. Only switch off the device after
operating mode (i.e. after initialisation) has been reached:
lAfter switching on, the Live and Record LEDs light up for approx. 5
seconds.
lAfter approximately a further 40 seconds, the Power LED is lit
permanently and indicates the device is ready to operate
lAfter approximately a further 5 seconds, image recording starts and image
transmission is similarly possible
lDuring the device shutdown process, any ongoing write operations on the
storage medium are first concluded before the video system is finally shut
down
2 LED Power - green Lights up continuously approx. 45 seconds after switching on to indicate that
the device is ready to operate.
3 Pushbutton Reset,
not labelled
Delete user specific passwords and user names by pressing pushbutton
Reset (e.g. with the tip of a ball point pen) for 10 seconds, until LED Power
starts flashing. Subsequently CamDisc HNVR will be restarted automatically.
No other passwords or setup data will be deleted besides user passwords.
4 V1 - V10
for LEDs - yellow
An illuminated LED in combination with illuminated LED Error (5) indicates
video signal failure of the respective video input. Tip: Deactivate unused
camera inputs using device settings.
When all video LEDs flash simultaneously, this indicates preparation of an
HDD standby (for example prior to switching off the video system).
A LED chaser light from left to right indicates hard disk initialisation.
5 LED logfile - red An illuminated red LED indicates malfunctions, such as system errors or video
signal failure. Viewing the CamDisc HNVR logfile resets the indicator. You
can configure the onboard CamDisc HNVR relays so that an error will also
activate a relay.
6 Online LED - blue An illuminated LED indicates an online connection.

HeiTel by Xtralis CamDisc HNVRProduct Guide

Item Labeling/description Function
7 Live LED - blue Flashing up of LED Live during online connection indicates ongoing picture
transmission. The interval is determined by the image rate, which in turn is
defined by connection speed (bit rate) and the CamDisc HNVR operating
mode.
8 Record LED - blue An illuminated LED Record indicates hard disk access caused by image write
operations and system access, like transmission of date and time data.
9 Armed (alarm
enabled)
LED - yellow
Indicates the alarm enable status of CamDisc HNVR. An illuminated LED
Armed (alarm enabled) indicates alarms being forwarded to receiver units,
depending on device configurations. The alarm enable status has no impact on
picture recording.
10 Alarm LED - red An illuminated Alarm LED during alarm processing indicates the CamDisc
HNVR alarm status. An alarm may require confirmation by several receivers,
depending on device configuration.
11 USB port USB direct connection to the CamControl receiver station
12 Removable hard disk Removable hard disk for digital video recording. It is essential that you observe
the information provided in "Removable Hard Disk" on page 25.
13 Keyswitch Keyswitch for unlocking/unlocking the removable hard disk. It is essential that
you observe the information provided in "Removable Hard Disk" on page 25.

3.7.2 Control Inputs, Error Relay, Sabotage Protection
Control inputs
lDepending on control input function and on device configuration, events can be triggered by active switch
normally open, active switch normally closed, edge control, or permanent contact.
lIn principle, control inputs must be switched to ground. Use the ground terminals labelled on the
device, or the ground terminals of the terminal block labelled "common ground for all inputs of type control
input" in the table above.
lStatus changes at the control inputs - closing and opening of the contact - must have a duration of at least
500 ms to allow for positive detection by the device and distinction from "swish contacts".
Standard switching for control inputs
The CamDisc HNVR has a large number of control inputs (Al in, Al a/d, Control in1 to Control in10, Aux in1).
However these inputs are not galvanically isolated from the operating voltage of the device. Depending on the
configuration, these can be activated by "Normally closed" or "Normally opened" contacts.
Note: The control inputs must always be activated such that they are potential-free.
Input circuits of control inputs
Wiring variants for voltage-monitored control inputs
In addition to standard wiring of control inputs, the CamDisc HNVR permits different types of voltage
monitoring.
Normally terminated (10k)
The wiring variant Normally terminated (10k) allows different circuitry for "Normally opened" and "Normally
closed".
Normally opened
Control inputR=10 kΩ
R=10 kΩ Control input
Normally closed
For circuitry with a resistance, a distinction is made between two different states:
lNot triggered: The figures show the safe state in each case (not triggered) of the detector line or the
control input for the variants "Normally opened" and "Normally closed".
lCamera alarm: If the "Normally opened" or "Normally closed" contact is operated, depending on the type
of circuit, a camera alarm is activated. Manipulations of the detector line such as interruption or short
circuit cause triggering as soon as the CamDisc HNVR no longer measures the predefined control
resistance of 10 kOhm (±40%).
