youhavetoconnectittothebuilt-inMIOcardinstead.ItispossibletouseaVM22Eswitcher.
lTheRS-485PTZsettingis2-wire.Youcannotchangeitto4-wire.
1.2 Possible Configurations
YoucanhavemaximumtwosetsofMIO/EIOcardsonyourXOdevice,built-inandexternalcardscombined.
lIfyoualreadyhave1MIOcardbuiltintoyourXOdevice,youcanonlyusethesinglemoduleasasecondary
setofMIO/EIOcards.
lIfyoualreadyhave2MIOcardsbuiltintoyourXOdevice,youcannotuseanymodules.
Note
BecauseFastTrace2SeriesandiFTSeriesdevicestypicallyhaveatleastoneMIOcardbuiltin,only
thesinglemoduleissuitable,asasecondsetofMIO/EIOcards.Thedoublemoduleisforfuture
applications.
Youhavetomapthemodulestothecorrectcardset(MIO-1orMIO-2)usingthehardware configuration tool.If
not,theXOdevicewillnotdiscoverthecardsandyouwillnotbeabletousetheinputs/outputs.
Furthermore,ifyouareusingadaptersontheUSBportsofyourXOdevice(toconnecttoPIRdetectorsorfor
PTZcontrolofanaloguecameras),youalsohavetomapthese'devices'usingthehardwareconfigurationtool.If
thesystemdetectsamismatchbetweentheitemsconfiguredinthehardwareconfigurationtoolandthehardware
thatthesystemhasdetected(eithermoreorlessthanconfigured),thesystemwillactivatesysteminput0002–
[SYST]–HWCFGMISMATCH.

Althoughitistechnicallypossibletodisableanexisting,built-inMIO/EIOcardinthehardware
configurationtool,anduseanexternalmoduleinstead,Xtralisrecommendstokeepandusethebuilt-
incards.Ifyoudisableabuilt-inMIOcard,youhavetoswitchoffthebuzzerandwatchdogfeatures,
orthesystemwillbeepcontinuously.Switchingoffthebuzzerandwatchdogseriouslyreducesthe
system'sreliabilityandsecurity.

2 Installation
2.1 Rubber Feet
Attachtheincludedself-adhesiverubberfeettothebottomofthemodule.
2.2 Logging on to the Hardware Configuration Tool
YouneedtologontothehardwareconfigurationtoolusingtheXOTechnicianuser.Forthis,youneedto:
1. EnabletheTechnicianuserusingtheXOclientsoftware.
2. Generateaspecial,temporaryaccesscode(PINoftheday)fortheTechnicianuser.ThePINlimitsthetime
thattheTechnicianuserhasaccesstotheconfigurationtool.
Note
YoucannotlogontothehardwareconfigurationtoolwhiletheXOdeviceisrestarting.
Tologontothehardwareconfigurationtool,proceedasfollows:
1. OpentheXOclient,andlogontothedesiredXOdeviceasanAdministrator.
2. ChooseSystem>General >Users.
3. UnderTechnician grant,clickEnable.
4. UnderTechnician pin of the day code,clickPin of the day.Thefollowingwindowappears:

5. IntheValidity box,enterthetime(inminutes)thatthePINhastoremainvalid.Themaximumtimeis
1440minutes=24h.
6. ClickCreate.AnewPINappearsunderCurrent pin of the day.ThecounterintheRemaining Validity
(min) boxdisplaysforhowlong(inminutes)thenewcodeisstillvalid.
7. Writedownthecode(includingthedashes),orkeepthewindowopenandmoveittowhereyouwillbeable
toseeitwhileloggingontothehardwareconfigurationtool.
8. OpenInternetExplorer,andtypethefollowingurlintheaddressbar:

devicesthanXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodulesontheUSBportsofyourXOdevice,youalsomust
remapthesedevicesinthehardwareconfigurationtool,andyoumustadjusttheserialportsettingsin
theXOclient.
WhenyoustopusingXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodulesontheXOdevice,youhavetoresetthe
USBportnumberinginthehardwareconfigurationtooltoreturntothedefaultUSBportnumbers.

ToconnectandmaptheXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodules,proceedasfollows:
1. Ifyouhavenotdonesoalready,logontothehardwareconfigurationtool.
2. ConnecttheXOI/OInterfaceUSBmoduletotheXOdeviceusingtheprovidedUSBcable:insertoneend
intothemodule,andtheotherendintoafreeUSBportontheXOdevice.
Note
Ifyouareusingadoublemodule,Xtralisrecommendstoconnectandmapeachmodule
separately.BecausethemodulesallappearwiththesamenameintheProduct column
(MIO CARD),thiswillpreventincorrectmapping.
3. Inthehardwareconfigurationtool,clickRefresh.Themodulewillnowappearinthelist,withtheDevice
Node columnempty.
TheexamplebelowshowsadevicethatalreadyhasafirstsetofMIO/EIOcards:MIO-1isalready
configured.Therowabove(- - -)indicatesthenewlyconnectedmodulethatneedstobemapped.

4. SelectthedesiredsetnumberforthemoduleintheDevice Node column.
5. ClickApply Configuration.
ThemessageAre you sure to apply your configuration? appears.
6. ClickApply.
TheWaiting to apply… messageappears.
7. Waitforthemessagetodisappear.
8. Ifyouaremappingadoublemodule,repeatforthesecondmodule:connectittotheXOdeviceusingthe
USBcable,clickRefresh intheconfigurationtool,andmapthemoduletothecorrectsetnumber.
9. IftheProduct columnsshowsanyotherdevices(intheexamplescreenabove,theFT232USBSerial=an
RS-485-to-USBconverter),makesurethatthesedevicesarealsomappedtoasuitableUSBport.
10. ClickLogout.
11. RestarttheXOdevice.
TheXOclientwillnotdiscovertheI/Ocardsuntilyouhaverestartedthedevice.
12. OpentheXOclientandcheckiftheaddedmoduleisvisibleintheI/O window:chooseSystem >
Connections >I/O.Forexample,ifyouhaveaddedasinglemoduletoserveasasecondsetofI/Ocards,
youwillseeasecondlineindicating2-I/O card + ext.
13. Iftherewereotherdevicesinthehardwaremappinglist,then:
oChecktheirserialportssettings(System >Connections >Serial Ports / PTZ).
oTestallrelatedfunctionality(PIRdetectors,analoguePTZcamera,modem…).

2.4 Resetting the Hardware Mapping
WhenyouuseXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodules,thesystemreconfigurestheUSBportsandtheynolongerhave
thedefaultnumberingasdescribedinthehardwaremanuals.
Ifyouhaveremoved all theXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodulesfromyourXOdevice,youcanresettheUSBport
configurationbacktothedefaults.
ToresettheUSBportconfiguration,proceedasfollows:
1. UnplugallXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodulesfromyourXOdevice.
2. Logontothehardwaretool.
3. OntheHardware Configuration tab,clickRefresh.ThiswillremoveanyXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodules
fromthehardwarelist.
4. Inthemenuatthetop,clickReset configuration.
5. ClickReset.Thefollowingmessageappears:
6. ClickApply toconfirm.
ThesystemwillresettheUSBportnumberingtothedefaultvalues,andrestarttheXOdevice.
7. Younolongerneedthehardwareconfigurationtool:youcancloseit.
Caution!
Donotusethehardwareconfigurationtoolafterresetting,unlessyouwanttoaddXOI/O
InterfaceUSBmodulesagain.Afterresetting,ifyouweretoopenthehardwareconfiguration
tool,youwouldseethatanyserialportforPTZorPIRdetectorsseemsunconfigured(the
Device Node columndisplays- - -).Donotchangethesesettings.
8. WaituntiltheXOdevicehasrestarted,andthenopentheXOclient.
9. Checktheserialportssettings(System >Connections >Serial Ports / PTZ),andreconfigureif
necessary.
10. Testallrelatedfunctionality(PIRdetectors,analoguePTZcamera,modem…).

3.1 Overview of Inputs and Outputs
Theimagebelowshowstheinputsandoutputsonadoublemodule.Onasinglemodule,onlytheinputsand
outputsontheleftareavailable:
IN1–20arevoltage-freecontactinputs.EachinputhasitsownGND.
C1–8arevoltage-freerelaycontactoutputs.Eachoutputhasacommonterminal(C1–C8)andbothanormal
open(NO1–NO8)andnormalclosed(NC1–NC8)terminal.Usetheappropriateterminalforeachoutput.Donot
usebothNOandNCterminalsforthesameoutput.
TheconnectorslabelledN.U.arenotused.
3.2 Input Circuits
BelowaretheNEOL,SEOL,andDEOLconfigurationsfortheinputs.Forcorrectoperation,youalsohaveto
indicatetheusedinputcircuitconfigurationintheXOclientsoftware.Formoreinformation,seetheXO Client

3.3 Connecting Inputs and Outputs
Dependingonthetype,theI/OcardcanbeequippedwithDinkle(standard)orPhoenixspringinsertion
connectors.Forbothtypesyouneeda2mmslottedscrewdriver.
Warning!
Althoughthepicturebelowshowsonlytheconnector,itisstronglyrecommendedtoconnectthe
wireswiththeconnectorspluggedintothecard.Wiringahandheldconnectormaycauseinjuries.
WiringtoDinkleandPhoenixconnectorsisidentical,exceptthatthepositionoftabsandholesisswapped.The
pictureintheprocedurebelowshowsaPhoenixconnector.
Toconnectinputsandoutputs,proceedasfollows:
1. Pushtheslottedtabfirmlyinwardswiththescrewdriver.
2. Insertthestrippedwire(6–7mm)intothecorrespondingroundholeasdeeplyaspossible.
3. Releasethetabandpullthewiretocheckifitisproperlyfitted.

Solidandstranded:16–24AWG

3.4 Configuring the I/O Cards
TheXOdevicesdonotautomaticallydetecttheconnectedXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodules.Youmustsetupthe
modulesusingthehardwareconfigurationtoolfirst.Fordetails,seeMapping the XO I/O Interface USB Modules
onpage13.Aftercorrectlysettingupthehardware,youcanconfiguretheinputsandoutputsintheXOclient
software.Fordetails,seetheXO Client Software User Manual(21796).

IfyouareusingasinglemoduleasanextensiononanADPROdeviceoftheFastTrace2SeriesoriFTSeries,
withabuilt-inMIOcard,thentheLEDsontheXOI/OInterfaceUSBmodulefollowtheLEDsonthefrontofthe
ADPROdevice.
LED Icon Description
GreenLED Indicatesthatpowerison.ThegreenLEDperiodicallyblinks(goesoutbriefly).
Thisisnormalbehaviour.
YellowLED Indicatesafault.IftheyellowLEDlightsup,checkthestatusofyourdevice.For

BlueLED Indicatesstoragemediaactivity.
