Thermal grilling
Turn the oven function control knob to position
andregulatethethermostattothetemperature
required.
This function offers an alternative method of
cooking food items, normally associated with
conventional grilling. The grill element and the
oven fan operate alternately, circulating hot air
aroundthefood.
When using this function, select a maximum
temperatureof200°C.
Hints and Tips
On baking:
Cakes and pastries usually require a medium
temperature (150°C-200°C) and therefore it is
necessary to preheat the oven for about 10
minutes.
Donotopentheovendoorbefore3/4ofthebaking
timehaselapsed.
Shortcrustpastryisbakedinaspringformtinoron
a tray for up to 2/3 of the baking time and then
garnishedbefore being fullybaked. Thisfurther
bakingtimedependsonthetypeandamountof
toppingorfilling.Spongemixturesmustseparate
withdifficultyfromthespoon.Thebakingtimewould
beunnecessarilyextendedbytoomuchliquid.
If two baking trays with pastries or biscuits are
inserted into the oven at the same time, a shelf
levelmustbeleftfreebetweenthetrays.

insertedintotheovenatthesametime,thetrays
mustbeswappedandturnedaroundafterabout
2/3ofthebakingtime.
OnRoasting:
Donotroastjointssmallerthan1kg.Smallerpieces
coulddryoutwhenroasting.Darkmeat,whichis
tobewelldoneontheoutsidebutremainmedium
or rare inside, must be roasted at a higher tem-
perature(200°C-250°C).
Whitemeat,poultryandfish,ontheotherhand,
requirealowertemperature(150°C-175°C).The
ingredients for a sauce or gravy should only be
addedtotheroastingpanrightatthebeginningif
thecookingtimeisshort.Otherwiseaddthemin
thelasthalfhour.
Youcanuseaspoontotestwhetherthemeatis
cooked: if it cannot be depressed, it is cooked
through.Roastbeefandfillet,whichistoremain
pinkinside,mustberoastedatahighertempera-
tureinashortertime.
Ifcookingmeatdirectlyontheovenshelf,insert
theroastingpanintheshelflevelbelowtocatch
thejuices.
Leavethejointtostandforatleast15minutes,so
thatthemeatjuicesdonotrunout.
Toreducethebuildupofsmokeintheoven,itis
recommendedtopouralittlewaterintheroasting
pan.Topreventcondensationforming,addwater
severaltimes.Theplatescanbekeptwarminthe
ovenatminimumtemperatureuntilserving.
Caution!
Do not line the oven with aluminium
foil and do not place a roasting pan
or baking tray on the floor, as other-
wise the oven enamel will be dam-
aged by the heat build-up.
