
The ST-X DSP Series Control Program
Te control program (GUI) for t e ST-X DSP amplifiers is t e same functionally for bot t e 4-C ST-4X DSP and t e
6-C ST-6X DSP except for t e number of c annels. Bot will ave a default system in t e c annel designation column
but since you ave complete control over all functions, you can use all c annels as t ey best suit your individual
system. Download t e GUI (Grap ic User Interface) from www.zapco.com > downloads, if you ave not already done
t at, and load t e GUI from t e .exe file. Connecting t e PC: Connect t e PC to t e ST-X DSP amp using t e supplied
USB cable. NOTE: T e ST-X DSP GUI is very forgiving about PC Screen resolution. However t e ideal resolution 1600 x
900 optimal on most PC’s.
At t e very top of t e Screen you will find t e Navigation bar. C annel Setup is w ere you will tell t e program w at inputs
and outputs you are using. To begin you need to define your system (see t e full manual for complete instructions).
1. At t e left of t e main GUI Screen is t e Delay section. Since you can not sit directly in t e center of t e car, t e
program can delay t e arrival time of near speakers so it will sound as t oug you are rig t in t e middle of t e car.
2. T e next section olds t e C annel Selection and Crossover. You can pick c annels on at a time or you can pick
t em by pair. Eac c annel as a Hig Pass (HP) and a Low Pass (LP) filter. You can c oose t e S ape of t e crossover
from Butterwort , Linkwitz-Riley, or Bessel and t e Slope using t e drop-down menus.
3. P ase/Level: T e next section is for adjusting levels and c ecking Polarity to be sure all speakers are in p ase wit
eac ot er. T e MUTE buttons allow you to turn off any speakers t at you do not want to ear w ile you are tuning
ot er speakers. You will also find a master level control ere and a system MUTE button.
4. T e lower section of t e GUI is devoted to equalization. Here are 15 bands of parametric equalization for eac
output c annel and you can vary Frequency, Gain, and Q (t e s ape of t e adjustment) for eac band in several ways.
Frequency: Eac band is numbered. You can simply click onto a band button and drag it to w ere you want it. W en
you click onto a band t ere is a “Heads-up display” of t e frequency, gain, and Q of t e band. Any band t at as been
adjusted from 0dB is ig lig ted by t e green dot under t e band’s slider.
To aid t e tuning process you can temporarily bypass a c annels equalization. You can also t e reset function to reset
one c annel or to reset all c annel to default positions wit no equalization.
