Theeffectivereadingdistanceforthescannerisillustratedasbelow.
Differentqualityanddensityofabarcodecouldeffectit’s
decodedepthoffield.Usuallywhenabarcodehaspoor
printingqualityorhighdensity,thedepthoffieldwouldbe
shorter.Itishighlysuggestednotplacethebarcodelabelat
theextremesofdepthoffieldasitisofteneasytomoveout
fromthereadingrange.

Mounting
Inthissection,wewillintroducehowtomountthescanengineintoyour
design.
Atthebackofscanengine,therearetwoscrewholesreservedfor
mounting,thescanenginecanbefixedinanypositionandanyangle
withoutanydegradationinperformance.Andtoensurethescanner
reachesitsbestperformance,thefollowingpointsneedtobenoticed
whenmountingthescanner:
Toavoiddirectsunlightoranyotherbrightlightsourceilluminating.
Whenplacingthebarcodelabel,onemustbecarefulnottoovertilt,skew
and/orpitchthebarcode.
Toavoidputtingthescannerinspeculareflectionposition,theCMOS
sensorwillnotsensethereadingofanybarcodesiftheLEDlightreflects
straightback.
Thebarcodemustbeplacedwithintheeffectivedepthoffield(D.O.F.)
area,theeffectivereadingdistanceforthebarcodefromthescanner.
Itstheoryislikeacamera,iftheobjectisplacedwithinthefocalrange,
andtheimageappearsclearly.Butiftheobjectisoutsidethefocal
range,theimagethenisblurred.Anddifferentqualityanddensityof
barcodescouldaffectitsD.O.F.;usuallyalowerpieceorhighdensityof
barcode,itsdepthoffieldisshorter.Itissuggestedtoavoidusingdepth
offieldextremesrange,barcodeiseasilymovedawayfromthereading
range.

ThermalConsiderations
ElectroniccomponentsintheZ‐5132GTwillgenerateheatduringthe
courseoftheiroperation.OperatingtheZ‐5132GTincontinuousmode
foranextendedperiodmaycausetemperaturestoriseonMPUand
decoderchip.Overheatingcandegradeimagequalityandaffectscanning
performance.Giventhat,thefollowingprecautionsshouldbetakeninto
considerationwhenintegratingtheZ‐5132GT.
1. Reservesufficientspaceforgoodaircirculationinthedesign.
2. AvoidwrappingtheZ‐5132GTwiththermalinsulationmaterialssuch
asrubber.
3. Increasethethermalstrategytoreducethescanningengine
continuousoperatingtemperature.
