Operation

626109-9160-000 FixAssist XTR Operating manual V1.0
4Operation
Assembling probe systems requires a very high degree of precision. For
this reason, you should always work with extreme care when configuring
your desired probe system.
Faults during assembly have a direct impact on your measurement results.
Always use a stainless steel extension when bolting down extensions or
probes to hold them in place.
Fig. 4: Extension as counter support
NOTE:
If possible do not use your original probe for configuring your probe
system. Use old probes with a large sphere diameter for configuration,
and your original probe exclusively for your measurements.

Operation
12 626109-9160-000 FixAssist XTR Operating manual V1.0
4.1 Inserting probe plates
1. Release the red fixing screws
(1) and push them out.
1
2. Insert the probe plate with
assembled extension into the
holder. In this process, the
alignment plate (2) fits into
the groove (3).
The two snaps of the probe
plate move into the recesses
designed to accommodate
them.
2
3
3. Fix down the probe plate.
Push the red fixing screws (1)
inwards and tighten them.
Important! Do not tighten
the fixing screws too much,
because the plate could
become damaged.

4.2 Configuring the angle around the Z-axis
1.
2.
Release the four screws (1)
slightly with a torque
screwdriver until
the probe system can rotate.
Turn the probe system
towards the prism.

1
Fig. 8:
3.
4.
Release the wing nuts (2) of
the angular scale and adjust
the desired angle by rotating
the angular scale.
In this process, think about
in which direction you want
your probe system to turn.
Re-apply the wing nuts. The
angle of the probe plate is
set.
2
Fig. 9:
5.
6.
7.
Set the prism vertically.
To do this, release the fixing
screws (3) and adjust the
prism angle 0°.
Re-apply the fixing screws
again.
Release the yellow fixing
screw (4) of the horizontal
guide and push the prism
slide carefully toward the
probe until it is against the
prism.

Re-apply the screws (5)
slightly
.
Check whether the probe
sphere is still centred in the
prism.
If the configuration is cor-
rect, tighten the screws with
the torque screwdriver.
The angle around the Z-axis
is configured.

– The angle around the Z-axis is configured.
1. Insert the centring aid (1)
into the prism slide.
1
2.
3.
4.
5.
Release the fixing screw of
the vertical and horizontal
guide.
Push the centring aid
carefully both vertically and
horizontally until the tip of
the probe is precisely in the
centre.
Re-apply the fixing screw of
the vertical guides.
The prism is now set to the
correct height.
Push prism slides
horizontally. Remove the
centring aid and probe
once again,

Below the adjustment of the second axis is described using a probe with
a cube and screw as an example.
6.
7.
Replace the probe on the
cube with a stainless steel
extension.
Release the screw (1) of the
cube slightly. The cube can
now be rotated.
1
8.
9.
Release the fixing screws (2)
of the angular adjustment
and set the desired angle of
the second axis.
Tighten fixing screws again.

10.
11.
12.
13.
Push the prism slide
horizontally, carefully until
the extension is against the
prism without backlash.
Re-tighten the screw of the
cube.
Check the angle once more.
Replace the stainless steel
extension with the probe.
The probe system is set up
and ready for operation.
