Zirkonzahn GmbH/S.r.l., Headquarters Italy – 39030 Gais – BZ, is the manufacturer of the
S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner and is referred throughout the Operator’s and Maintenance
Manual as Zirkonzahn.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This Operator’s and Maintenance Manual is an integral part of the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI
Scanner and must be kept in a place known to the operator and easily and immediately accessible
at all times. Only adequately trained personnel should handle the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI
Scanner.
This Operator’s and Maintenance Manual covers all you need to know for safe use and
maintenance of the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner produced by Zirkonzahn GmbH/S.r.l.
However, it is not intended to replace a training course with regard to the scope of application.
The participation in an introductory training course for Zirkonzahn CAD/CAM systems is
recommended. You can find all information about the current course programme and a list of
Zirkonzahn Education partners in your vicinity on our homepage www.zirkonzahn.com or by
contacting us directly by telephone under +39 0474 066 650.
Operational capability and long-term value of the scanner can only be guaranteed if service and
maintenance work prescribed in this Operator’s and Maintenance Manual are carried out.
This manual is subject to amendments at our sole discretion in the event of technical further
development.

If any points of these instructions remain unclear or if indications, instructions, safety
instructions or technical explanations have not been fully understood, do not hesitate to

PURPOSE
The intended use of the scanner is outlined in this chapter.
In this connection a hazard analysis was done on the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner. The
manufacturer does not accept any responsibility for applications not described here which do not
fall within the definition of intended use.
Intended use
The S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner optically scans single dies as well as complete jaw
models and impression scans.
The objects to be scanned have to be fixed on the universal Model Holder (or on other fixing
devices which are not contained in the scope of delivery) and then you can realise an optical
3D-scan.
Obligations of the user
The operator must make sure to:
- Prevent abuse.
- Operate the system only with all intended safety devices closed and intact (front plate, security
switch, side covers etc.).
- Prevent other people staying within the working area of the equipment during operation.
- Prevent touching of moving parts.
- Prevent maintenance work being carried out during operation.
- Disconnect the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner from power supply by pulling the
mains plug before any intervention.
- Prevent that anybody looks directly into the laser beam (laser class 1).

WARRANTY
In order to make use of the warranty service, exclusively original consumable materials, tools and
spare parts from Zirkonzahn should be used.
From the moment of delivery, Zirkonzahn grants a warranty of 12 months for the equipment.
If the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner is passed on to third parties, the warranty obligation is
recognized only if the passing on occurs within the set warranty period of 12 months.
Warranty claim
For warranty claims the customer must prove the date of purchase (i.e. copy of invoice).
The warranty covers the replacement of parts found faulty by Zirkonzahn (material or
production fault).
Loss of warranty
The loss of the warranty claim occurs in the following cases:
- Poor maintenance.
- Not proper, non-intended use.
- Non-compliance with references and prescriptions specified in the Operator’s and Maintenance
Manual.
- Modifications to the product carried out by the customer or by third parties which have not been
explicitly authorized by Zirkonzahn;
- Use of tools, materials or spare parts which have not been produced or authorised by
Zirkonzahn.
The warranty does not cover:
- Damage during transport and supply (it is the forwarding company’s liability; only if noted on
the delivery note when receiving the goods!).
- Loss in sales and other economic consequences.
Technical improvements
Zirkonzahn is not obliged to carry out technical amendments to equipment produced at earlier
stages.

SAFETY REGULATIONS
Read and follow the safety instructions in this operator’s manual to avoid danger to
persons and damage to property. Your safety comes first!
Safety concept
The safety concept of the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner as well as this Operator’s and
Maintenance Manual were compiled according to the requirements of the Machinery Directive
98/37/EC in force until 29/12/2009 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC in force since
30/10/2009, as well as the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/ EC.
Personal safety equipment
When working with the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner, no special safety equipment has
to be used.
- Touching moving parts is strictly forbidden.
- Laser radiation! Do not look directly into the laser beam (retinal inflammation)
(laser class 1).
- Personal safety equipment required by law may vary from country to country.
- The user is committed to use the safety equipment in accordance with the national
industrial safety regulations.
Safety measures when cleaning the device
-Unplug from mains power!
Workplace, handling, references to safety
- Provide optimal work height.
- Do not expose the system to direct solar radiation.
- Equipment position for a good accessibility to operating elements.
Troubleshooting
Only instructed qualified personnel are allowed to undertake troubleshooting.
If a malfunction cannot be rectified through the information provided in the Operator’s
Manual, the S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner must be turned off. Prevent unauthorized

Restart protection after power failure
In the event of malfunction of the system during a phase of work (e.g. power failure) the device
must be restarted.

SOURCES OF DANGER AND RISKS
Possible sources of danger
According to the safety technical hazard analysis 09/02/2009, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC;
98/37/EC; Low voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC.
- Rotating parts.
- Moving parts
- Front plate.
- Components under electrical voltage.
- Solvents.
- Insufficient bearing capacity of the installation surface for the equipment.
- Scanner’s laser beam (laser class 1).
Residual risks
- In the event of equipment defects push the EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN switch and follow
hazard warnings.
- Avoid residual risks by increased attentiveness.
- Pay attention to risks at the installation site.
- Risk of bruising when handling the front plate improperly.
- Risk of bruising during transport and installation of the equipment.
- Defective power supply lines.
- Fire hazard if the machine is operated unattended.
Danger of explosion
It is strictly forbidden to use the scanner in explosive atmospheres and to clean it with
solvents.

TRANSPORT, UNPACKING AND SETTING UP OF THE EQUIPMENT
- The transport must be carried out only with sufficient personnel, according to the national
industrial safety regulations.
- For the pallet’s transport the use of a forklift truck is recommended. Caution when lifting!
- The S600 ARTI / S900 ARTI Scanner may only be moved and put down on surfaces with
suitable stability, in a dry place and in a non-corrosive environment.
- Stable, non-slip installation surface, which can bear a minimum weight of 300 kg.
- Caution when removing the cardboard casing (glass cladding).
- Pay attention to danger of injury when unpacking and setting up the scanner.
- Power supply must be installed and attached by an expert.
- The scanner must not be connected to the electric circuit during the installation phase:
Danger of electric shock.
- The original packaging has to be kept for at least 1 year.
- Safety procedures at the site of the installation:
Stable, flat and dry installation surfaces for the equipment.
- Safety distance of min. 2 m to combustible material.
- Safety distance of min. 2 m to water.
- Safety distance of min. 1.5 m to all sides (for cooling air, access).
DISPATCH AND FREIGHT COSTS
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the buyer is responsible for dispatch, freight and possible
import fees.
Check the delivery for completeness and integrity immediately after receipt.
Evident defects must be noted on the delivery notes, in order to claim for compensation against the
forwarding company.
In case of complaints, have the transport documents countersigned by the carrier and send a copy
to Zirkonzahn.
Indication on transport packaging (fragile, this side up).
