ThisproceduredescribeshowtoreplacetheZXSDRR8872Abytakingpole-mounted
installationasanexample.
TheZXSDRR8872Areplacementtakesabout30minutes.Duringreplacement,all
servicesrunningontheZXSDRR8872Aareinterrupted.
Prerequisite
lYouhaveacquiredthehardwarecongurationofthefaultyZXSDRR8872A,and
preparedanewZXSDRR8872Awiththesamespecicationsasthefaultyone.
lYouhaverecordedtheinformationofallcableconnectionstothefaultyZXSDR
R8872A,suchastheinterfacestowhichtheopticalbersandantennafeeder
jumpersareconnected.Thisinformationisusedforcorrectlyreconnectingthecables
tothenewZXSDRR8872Aafterthereplacement.
Steps
1.Stopoperatingtheequipment.
a.InformtheOMCadministratorthattheZXSDRR8872Awillbereplaced,andask
theadministratortoblockthecellscorrespondingtothissite.
b.PoweroffthefaultyZXSDRR8872A.
2.Removethefaultyequipment.
a.WearanESDwriststrap,andensurethattheESDwriststrapisgroundedsecurely.
IfnoESDwriststrapisavailableornoappropriateearthingpointisavailablefor
groundingtheESDwriststrap,wearantistaticglovesinstead.
b.Disconnectallrelatedcablesfromthefaultyequipment,andstickalabelon
thedisconnectedendofeachcable.Forhowtodisconnectthecables,referto

c.Turntheadjustablewrenchincounterclockwisedirectiontoloosenthefastening
screwinthemiddle,toremovetheRRUchassisfromthemountingeargrooveof

ThepowercableisusedtoleadDCorACpowersuppliesfromtheexternalpowersupply
cabinettotheoperationandmaintenancecavityoftheZXSDRR8872A,providingpower
totheZXSDRR8872A.ThisproceduredescribeshowtoconnectaDCpowercable.
ReplacingtheDCinputpowercablewillresultinpower-offoftheZXSDRR8872Aand
interruptionofallservicescarriedbytheZXSDRR8872A.TheDCinputpowercable
replacementtakesabouttenminutes.
Prerequisite
AsparepowercablewiththesametypeandlengthastheDCinputpowercabletobe
replacedisavailable.
Steps
1.Takearecordoftheoutputswitchstatusoftheexternalpowersupplycabinet.Turn
offtheoutputswitchcorrespondingtopowercabletobereplaced.
2.Recordtheconnectioninformationatbothendsoftheoldpowercable,andthen
disconnectthepowercable.Thefollowingdescribeshowtodisconnectthepower
cablefromtheZXSDRR8872A.
a.Openthemaintenancecavity,andloosenthepowercablecrimpingclipatthe
entranceofthemaintenancecavity.
b.Pressthetoppolewiththescrewdriver,untilthepolecannotspringback.Pullout
thepowercablewiththetubularterminalfromtheterminalblock,seeFigure2-2.

connectionrelationship.Fordetailedoperations,refertotheZXSDRR8872A

Thelabelofthenewcablemustcontainthesameinformationasthatonthelabel
oftheoldcable.
c.Usethemultimetertoverifythatnoshortcircuitexistson-48VandGNDpower
cables.

c.Pressthebluelinecardatthefrontoftheopticalber,andremovetheopticalber
andopticalmodule(ifitneedstobereplaced)fromthemaintenancecavity,see

2.Connectanewopticalber.
a.Removethedustcapfromthenewopticalcableconnector,andstoreitproperly
forfutureuse.
b.ConnectoneendoftheopticalbertotheRRUandtheotherendtotheBBU
byreferringtothepreviousopticalconnection.Fordetailedcableinstallation
instructions,refertotheZXSDRR8872AEngineeringHardwareInstallation.
c.Stickalabelonthenewopticalber.
Thelabelmustcontainthesamecontentsasthelabelonthepreviousopticalber.

AsetofRFcablesarespeciedfordifferenttypesofsites.
lIfRFcablesaretobereplacedforcapacityexpansiononasite,youcanuseasetof
RFcablesinaccordancewiththesitetype.
lIfasingleRFcableistobereplaced,youcanselectanRFcablewithanappropriate
lengthfromasetofcablesaccordingtothelocationwherethecableistobeused.
Steps
1.InformtheOMCadministratorthattheantennafeederjumpercablewillbereplaced.
Asktheadministratortoblockthecellsinthissite.
2.Disconnecttheoldcable.
a.Removethewaterprooftapefromtheantennafeederjumpercable.
b.Useawrenchtounscrewthefasteningscrewsoftheantennafeedercable
connectorandtheinterface.Takeofftheconnectorcarefully,seeFigure2-4.

accordancewiththepreviously-recordedconnectioninformation.

layersofwaterproofclay,andthreelayersofanti-ultraviolettapes.
