Introduction
This upgrade notes is to help Vantage CNM users who have already installed Vantage
CNM 2.3 version.
We assume that Vantage CNM 3.0 software is available for the reader who is reading
this document. If not, please get the software, Vantage CNM 3.0.00.61.00.exe from
the Vantage CNM 3.0 CD or 3.0.00.61.00 package from ZyXEL website>>Support &
Downloads>>Software
http://www.zyxel.com/web/support_download_list.php.
For those people who are using older version (e.g. Vantage CNM 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2), we
recommend to conduct new installation and migrate your existing license from
previous installation to the new installation from myZyXEL.com; please see the “New
Installation” section in this document and refer to the Quick Start Guide document.
Upgrade Notes
¾Support upgrade from Vantage CNM 2.3.00.61.00/01.
¾Data which will be migrated:
zDevice list.
If the device type and firmware version is in default full supported list of CNM
3.0, then these devices will be migrated as full supported in CNM 3.0. See the
following default full supported device list of CNM 3.0.

Others that are supported in CNM 2.3 but not in the full supported list will be
migrated as basically support (registration, firmware upgrade, configuration
file backup and restore, log and alarm). See following list.

zDevice configuration data.
The configuration data of devices will not be migrated by program but will be
synchronized from devices when they are online. The device synchronization
is only for the devices that are full supported by CNM 3.0 (see full supported
list above).
zDevice topology structure
zAdministrators
CNM 3.0 UAM (User Account Management) is completely different from CNM
2.3 (please reference to User Guide for detail).
The “root” account in CNM 2.3:
The “root” account will be in “super” group in CNM 3.0 after migration.
Other accounts in CNM 2.3:
The migration will create a special group called “custom” in CNM 3.0 for those
accounts with minimum privileges including:

Device Management (Add/Delete/Edit Devices/Folders) Disabled
Device Operation & VPN Management Disabled
Monitor Disabled
Log & Report Disabled
For UAM detail definition in CNM 3.0, please reference to User Guide.
All administrators in “Normal” and “Custom” group in CNM 2.3 will be migrated
to this “custom” group in CNM 3.0. So these users can do nothing except
modifying his/her privileges by super uses after migration.
zAddress Book
The Address Book in CNM 2.3 will be migrated as Device Owner in CNM 3.0.
The relationship with devices will also be migrated.
zLicense
CNM license will be migrated from CNM 2.3 to CNM 3.0 automatically.
zSSL Certificate
CNM certificate will be migrated.
zSystem Configurations
System configuration will be migrated including Server Configurations, User
Access and VRPT server list.

zDevice alarms
zCNM logs
zSystem backup files
zBuilding Block
zSignature profiles
zVPN tunnels created in One-Click VPN
zPending tasks such as device configurations.
Upgrade procedure
Before upgrade

¾If you are using Vantage CNM 2.2 version or Vantage CNM 2.3 LITE version, you
need to upgrade your CNM to 2.3 version, 2.3.00.61.00. The upgrade step is:
2.2.00.61.00 Æ2.2.00.61.01 Æ2.2.00.61.02 Æ2.2.00.61.03 Æ2.3.00.61.00
Or
2.3.49.61.00 Æ2.3.49.61.01 Æ2.3.00.61.00
For detail upgrade procedure, please reference to the Upgrade Notes in CNM 2.3
release package.
¾If you are not sure about the version of your Vantage CNM, please go to
System>>About.
¾Suggest making a maintenance backup of CNM 2.3 to local computer before
migration. Please go to System>>Maintenance>>Backup and choose “To your
Computer”.
¾Check system environment for uprade.
zIf your Vantage CNM is running, please shutdown it first.
zPlease make sure the ports 1864, 11864, 8080, 443, 3306, 3305 in your
system is not occupied.
zPlease make sure there is more than 600MB available free disk space in the
disk where previous CNM 2.3 is installed.
zInternet access is available and http://www.myZyXEL.com is reachable.
CNM 3.0 installer will double check the above conditions. If anyone of them is not
satisfied, the upgrade process will not continue.
During upgrade
1. Run the install package “Vantage CNM 3.0.00.61.00.exe” to do the migration.

2. Installation wizard will check the migration condition to make sure everything is
available.
3. Confirm the check result.

If checking fail, the process will be terminated. Please check your system status
about current CNM version, ports occupy status and free disk space.
4. The program will install CNM 2.3 first.

5. The program will check whether www.myZyXEL.com is reachable for CNM license
migration.
6. The migration will start after check successfully. You will see command prompt
windows during migration. Just simple allow it to execute and it will close
automatically.
7. If migrate successfully from CNM 2.3, you will be asked to restart you computer.
