Introduction
This OWL Z-Smart display unit is a part of the OWL Intuition range of cloud connected
monitoring and control products. Its operation is dependant upon being paired to a
Network OWL as part of an Intuition -PV Installation (supplied separately - part number
TSE200-103).
This version of the Z-Smart is designed for monitoring electricity consumption and Solar PV
generation. It is suitable for domestic use and some light commercial premises.
The Z-Smart provides access to all of the energy generation, consumption and export data
normally accessible via the OWL Intuition online dashboard - but provides this in a concise
manner with at-a-glance accessibility.
This manual outlines the pairing process for your Z-Smart device and the primary functions
of the Z-Smart unit as a whole. To ensure a full understanding of what is being shown to
you in each viewing mode, and how to switch between these viewing modes, please make
sure you read the section “Using your OWL Z-Smart” contained in this manual.

Installation Instructions
BEFORE YOU START
The OWL Z-Smart will not work until a running Intuition -PV installation is present at your
property. If you do not have such an installation present, you will need one to continue
with the installation of the Z-Smart. In such a case, please contact one of our
recommended suppliers found at http://theowl.com/distributors/.
Once you have ensured a complete Intuition -PV installation has been congured at your
property, follow the steps on the next few pages to get your OWL Z-Smart up and running.

Step 1. Log Into the Online Dashboard
Open your preferred internet web browser and access the site www.owlintuition.com. Log
into your account, then click “Wizard” once logged in.
Please note, your OWL Intuition account should already be set up to monitor solar PV prior
to attempting to install the Z-Smart. Please consult the manuals supplied with the Intuition
-PV if this has not yet been done.
Step 2. Run through the Wizard
Upon starting the online Wizard, select “Z-Smart”. Click “Next”. It may be necessary to
update your network OWL - the wizard will prompt you to do so if this is the case.
Insert the batteries into the Z-Smart unit. Initially the unit should be in “Time/Date” mode
(indicated by a small clock icon showing on the left hand side). This will show the time to
be “00:00” and date to be “01/01” (the unit will receive correct date and time
information once paired).
The Wizard will ask you to press and hold and ▼ for 3 seconds to put the Z-Smart into
pairing mode; indicated by the “RX” symbol ashing. Do so, then click “Next”
Wait for the OWL Intuition Dashboard to notify you that pairing has been successful. Once
this has been displayed, simply click “Finish”, “Finish” again, and “OK”.

Step 3. Check the pairing was successful
Ensure your Z-Smart is now receiving data from the Network OWL; this can be determined
by looking at the display unit. Upon receiving its rst packet of information from the net-
work OWL, the date and time should update on-screen as it retrieves this from our servers.
This may take up to 60 seconds to take place.
If after 60 seconds the time and date are still being suggested as 00:00 and 01/01 respec-
tively, please perform the following actions on the online dashboard:
- Click on “devices”.
- If the Z-Smart is listed here, please click on this to bring up its information screen, and
click “delete device”.
- Once the unit has been successfully deleted, or if it has not appeared in the devices list,
please remove the batteries from the Z-Smart and attempt step 2 again.
