Care
If abattery leakdevelops, avoid contactwith the leaking acid and place the damaged batteryin
a plastic bag. See information below for proper disposal.
If acid comesin contact with skin or eyes, flush with coolwater for at least 15 minutes and call
a physician.
If acid is internallyingested,provide water,milkof magnesia or eggwhites immediatelyfor
ingestion. Never give emetics or induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.
•Charge anewbatteryfor at least 18 hours before first use. Never charge the batterylonger than
30 hours. Overcharging orundercharging the batterymay shortenbatterylife anddecrease
vehiclerunning time.
•Afterthe first charge,rechargethe 12V batteryforat least 14 hours aftereach use. Never
charge the 12V battery longer than 30hours. Charge the 12V battery after each use,
regardless of howlong the vehicle was used.
•The 12V batterymust be upright while charging.
•Do not allowthe 12V batterytorun downcompletely before charging.
•Charge the 12V batterybefore storing the vehicle.
•Charge the 12V batteryatleast once per month, even if the vehicle has not been used.
•Leaving the 12V batteryina dischargedcondition will ruin it.
•Alwaysremove an exhausted batteryfromthe vehicle. Batteryleakage and corrosion can
damage the vehicle.
•Do not store the 12V batteryon a surface which could be damaged bythe acid containedinside
the battery. Take precautions to protect the surface onwhich you store the 12V battery.
•Do not store the 12V batteryin temperatures above 75°F or below -10°F.
•Prevent the 12V batteryfrommoving freelyinsidethe batterycompartment. Alwaysuse the
batteryclamp to secure the 12V battery in the batterycompartment.
•Examine the 12V battery,charger and their connectorsfor excessive wear or damage each time
youcharge the 12V battery. If damage is detected,do not use the charger or the 12V batteryuntil
you have replaced the worn or damaged part.
Disposal
-Your 12V batteryis asealed lead-acid battery. Itmust be recycled or disposed ofin an
environmentallysound manner.
-Do not dispose ofalead-acid batteryin your regular household trash. The incineration,land
fillingor mixingofsealedlead-acid batterieswithhouseholdtrash is prohibitedbylaw inmost
area.
-Return exhausted batteries to a federal or state approvedlead-acid battery recycler, or alocal
seller ofautomotive batteries. Contact your localwaste management officials for other information
regardingtheenvironmentallysoundcollection, recyclinganddisposal oflead-acid batteries.If
youlive in the State of Florida or Minnesota, it is prohibitedbylawfor anyone tothrowawaylead-
acid batteries in the municipal waste stream.
