NSAdminisaconfigurationtoolthathelpsconfigurethe communication2N NetStar

system,version2.Theapplicationisdesignedforanx86platformusingtheWINDOWS
operatingsystemconnectedwith throughanetwork.Itiscontrolledbya2N NetStar
®
mouseand,secondarily,akeyboard.NSAdminusestheTCPconnectionormodemand
communicateswith basicallyviaport6992.2N NetStar
®
AsanecessaryconditionforusingthisconfigurationtoolundertheWindowsXPOS,a
servicepack2andFrameworkv.3.havebeeninstalled.Theprogramdoesnotwork
withoutthesecomponents.
Main menu of the configuration tool
Once the configuration tool has been started, a window is displayed helping to
configureconnectionstoPBXs,analysetracesandstartuptheHelp.Themainmenu
offersthefollowingoptions:
Admin
Settings–hereopenadialoguewiththeglobalconfigurationtoolsettings.
Language–herechooseoneofthesupportedlanguages.
Exit–pushthiskeytoexittheconfigurationtool.
Trace–operationswithpreviouslysavedtracesareonlyavailablehereatthe
currentstage.
Load trace from file
Add trace from file
Trace analyser–pushtoopenatraceanalysiswindow.
Help–herestarttheHelpinthechosenlanguage.
Global settings of the configuration tool
Thisdialogueincludesthreetagswiththefollowingparameters:
XML script
Type of debugging–usethissectiontoenableanddefinetherangeof
displayingthexmltraceintheconfigurationtool.ThePBXtracecannotbe
sethere.
Indent size – use this parameter to define the indent size for the xml
trace.
View –thisisanauxiliaryfunctionfortraceanalysisusingdatabase.
Show current window name–checkthisoptiontodisplaythecurrent
windownameintheright-handbottomcorner.
Show object IDs–checkthisoptiontodisplaythecurrentobjectIdin

General
Set colours of virtual ports–heredefinethecolourforeachvirtualport
ordisablethisfunction.
Set colours of tables–heredefinethebackgroundcoloursfortablesor
disablethisfunction.
Set colours of logins – here define the colour for each user login or
disablethisfunction.
Set colours of extensions–define the colour for each extension(SIP,
external,etc.)ordisablethisfunction.
Clickon ineachofthe subtagstosetthedefaultcolours.Default General

Create PbX–usethisoptiontocreateaPBXonthesamelevelastheselected

Create connection–usethisoptiontocreateaconnectiontotheselectedPBX.
Properties–heresetorchangethepropertiesofaselectedobject.Anameis
onlyassignedtogroups.FordetailsonPBXandconnectionsettingsseebelow.
Delete–selectthisoptiontodeleteagroup,PBXorconnection.
Auto login – use this option to enable an automatic PBX connection via the
currentconnectionafterstartingtheconfigurationtool.Oneautomaticconnection
may only be active at a time. By selecting another setting you cancel the
previousone.
Cancel auto login–usethisoptiontocanceltheautomaticconnectionwithout
specifyinganyobject.
Inaddition,thefollowingoptionsareavailableinthecontextmenu:
Import PBX structure–selectthisoptiontoimportapredefinedPBXstructure
asdescribedbelow.
Export PBX structure–selectthisoptiontoexportthecurrentPBXstructure
forlaterPCconnectionuse.
Import database–selectthisoptiontoimportthedatabaseofaselectedPBX
intheoff-linemodeonly.Intheon-linemode,thedatabaseisreplacedwiththe
PBXdata.
Export database–selectthisoptiontoexportthedatabaseofaselectedPBXin
theoff-linemodeonly.
Connection structure
Inthismenuyoucancreategroupsandsubgroups(nestedgroups)and,subsequently,
add PBXs to them. You can create PBXs without groups too, but this might be
confusingifyouuseahighernumber of PBXs. Thenyoucancreateconnectionsfor
particular PBXs using the TCP/IP and modem protocols. The records are arranged
alphabetically.
Foreasieradministrationofexistingrecords,arecordmovingoptionusingthemouse
hasbeenimplementedonthisscreen,alsodesignatedasdrag & drop.

PBX properties
ThedialogueshowninfigurebelowhelpsyoucreateaPBXorchangethepropertiesof
anexistingPBX.Theparametermeaningsareasfollows:
Name–definethenameofthePBXtobeconnected.
Folder–usethisparametertodefinethepathtothefolderfortheconfiguration
tobesaved.
Autosave–usethisoptiontoenableautomaticdatabasesavingintheoff-line
mode.
Autosave database after – here set the interval for automatic database
backup.Thisfunctionmayonlybeusedfortheoff-linemode.
Delete autosave item older than–heresetthemaximumtimeforkeepingold
databasebackups in thestorage folder. Thisfunction can onlybe used in the
off-linemode.
Autosynchronisation–Ifthisselectionisactive,thetooltriestosynchronise
thedataautomaticallywiththePBXwithoutinquiring.Thisfunctioncanonlybe
used in the off-line mode. If this selection is active, 'Loading from PBX' is
performediftheoff-linedatabaseisempty.'Displaychanges'isperformedifthe
database has been synchronised, the identifier matches and 'Database from
Autosave'hasnotbeenselected.Otherwise,thesynchronisationtypedialogueis
invoked.Ifthisselectionisinactive,thedialogueisinvokedinallcases.

Connection properties
ThedialogueshowninfigurebelowhelpsyoucreateaPBXconnectionorchangethe
propertiesofanexistingPBXconnection.Theparametermeaningsareasfollows:
Connection name–hereenterthenameoftheselectedconnection.
Modes–usethisparametertodefinewhethertheconnectionwillsupportthe
on-line,off-lineorbothmodes.
Download trace–usethisoptiontodisableorrestricttracedownloadingfrom
thePBX.Particularlyusefulformodemconnections.*Anyofthefollowingmodes
canbeselected:
Only new – Only the new trace is sent to the tool existent since the
momentofPBXconnection.
Never – No trace is sent to the tool (useful for trouble making modem
connections).
Always–Approximatelya300kB–1MBtraceisreadoutofthePBXbuffer
uponconnectionandsenttothetool.Usefulforsendingthetraceafterthe
PBXstartup.
Connection type–usethisoptiontodefinethePBXconnectiontype.Typically,
theTCP/IPormodemconnectionisselected.UsetheTCP/IP,enterthePBXCPU
IPaddressandtheporttobeused(6992bydefault).Withamodemchoosethe
onethatsupportstheX.75protocol.
If unsuccessful try again – define the time interval between the PBX
connectionattemptsincaseoffailure(PBXswitch-offorrestart).
Connect as–heredefinetheloginandpassworddataforasecuredPBXaccess.

Connecting to PBX
After an automatic or manual initiation of a PBX connection, the dialogue shown in
figurebelowisdisplayed.ItprovidesinformationonthePBXtobeconnected,thePBX
firmware version (if detected), the last known connection error and, in the case of
automatic connection attempts, also the remaining time to the next attempt. To
connectimmediately(beforethetimeout),pushthe button.The butTry again Cancel
tonisusedforleavingthedialogue.

1.4 Configuration Menu
Main menu
AfterasuccessfulconnectiontothePBX,the configuration part of theapplicationis
displayed. The main menu of this view is shown in figure below and contains the
followingoptions:
Administrator
Logout PBX–usethisoptiontologouttheconfigurationtoolfromthePBX
and return to the previous menu for another connection as described
above.
Connect/Disconnect – use these options off-line to connect/disconnect
theconfigurationtoolto/fromthePBX.
Save changes–heresaveallchangesmadesincethelastsave.
Undo changes – herecancel all changesmade since thelast save ina
menu.
Settings–usethisoptiontoinvokeaglobalsettingdialogueasdescribed
inChapter .1.2AboutApplication
Language–chooseoneofthesupportedlanguages.
Exit–usethisoptiontoexittheconfigurationtool.
Trace
Load trace from file–usethisoptiontoloadatracefromthefile,thus
clearingthepreviousone.
Add trace from file–usethisoptiontoloadatracefromthefileandadd
ittotheexistingone.Youcaninterconnecttracesforeasyanalysis.
Save trace to file–usethisoptiontosavethecurrenton-linetracetoa
file.Theconfigurationtoolalwayssavesanentire trace independently of
whetherthefilterisbeingappliedornot.
Trace analyser–hereopenthetraceanalysiswindow.
PBX
Upgrade – select this option to display a firmware upgrade dialogue.
Having been chosen, the firmware file is uploaded into the PBX and
unpacked.Afterarestart,thenewfirmwareisused.
Import logs from PBX–selectthisoptiontogetaneasyaccesstothe
PBX logs without using other applications. You can import logs orAll
selectedlogsonly( ).Selectively
All – after selecting a directory, the config.db and aoc.db files and the
contentsoftheinternal/logand/var/logdirectoriesareimported.
Selectively – select this item to display a dialogue for downloading
selectedlogsfromthePBX.Theusercanenterthefilesthroughastorage
asdefinedinthe menu.Global Data – Storage Manager
Restart PBX–usethisoptiontoinitiatethePBXrestart.

xmlfile.Theoptionisavailableintheoff-linemodeonly.

1.5 PBX Activation
What you need
To activate and configure you need the , a2N NetStar

®system
computerrunningthesupportedWindowsversion,akeyboardandamouse.ThePC
and PBX have to be interconnected in a LAN. Furthermore, it is2N NetStar
®
necessarytodisplaytheredirectedstandardPBXinputandoutputonyourPCconsole.
Todothis,youneedasix–wire,crossedcablewithasix-pinRJ-12connectoronone
endandaserialconnectorontheother.Thiscableissuppliedasstandardequipment.
Youcanusea'TeraTermPro'consoleoranyotherfunctionalconsole.Youcanalso
workintheHyperTerminalmode,butlongerlinesareinterlaced.
Step 1: IP address setting
Prior to starting configuration you need to set up the PBX IP address to establish
networkcommunicationbetweenthesystemandthecomputer.Todothis,youcanuse
aserialconsoleorthe default IP address192.168.100.100.The –PC2N NetStar
®
communicationcanbeon-lineoroff-line.Toconfiguretheconsoleusethetablebelow.

After the first connection to the selected PBX according to the Connection to PBX
chapter,aconfigurationwizard isdisplayedasshowninfigurebelow.Thiswizardis
displayed only if the PBX has a new empty database (has not been preconfigured
accordingtoyourdemands).

furtherconfiguration,whichissignalledbygreenboardLEDs.TheGSMboardisthe
onlyboardwithoutLEDindicatorsandsoitsreadystatusissignalledbytheportLEDs.
ThecurrentfirmwareversionisloadedintothePBXafterthefirststart–uporevery
firmwareupgradeandmaycauseashortdelayintheGSMboardactivation.
Step 3: Localisation setting
Localisationsettingisanotherimportantstepofthe configuration.Inthis2N NetStar
®
stepyoucandefinetheparametersshowninfigurebelowanddescribedindetailinthe
chapter. In addition, you can add a language package of your own6.3 Localisation
includingtextsandprogresstones.Twolanguagepackages–CzechandEnglish–are
availableinthePBXbydefault.
