1. About 2N NetStar System
2N NetStar
®isanewgenerationofPBXwhichsupportsVoIPtechnology.Itworkslike
anormalPBXandVoIPsoftswitchandfullyconnectsservices.Itenablesanumberof
devicestobeusedsuchasanaloguetelephonelinesISDNBRI,ISDNPRIandVoIP.The
individual networks' properties are not separated but integrated into one compact
system.
Thesystem'scallcapacitycorrespondstotheneedsoflargecompaniesandoperators.
Transferbetween variousnetworksis governedby dynamicleastcost routing(LCR),
whichselectsthecheapestandbestrouteformakingacalltothe numberrequired.
Thankstothe wellthoughtoutLCR,inwhicheverysubscriberorindividualport can
haveits ownroutingtable, itis noproblemto createa virtualPBXor simplycreate
restrictionsforcertainsubscribergroupsorindividuals.
Theoptionsforthesubscriberterminalsandcommunicationsarenotdependentonthe
communications technology used. All extensions, from analogue phones to web
terminals have the Web Assistant available for simple user configuration of the
services. The Web Assistant combines web interfaces with voiced instructions and
guidestotheindividualservices.Itisequallyeasytooperatethesystemphonesby
usingthecontextmenu.Itispossibletodefineallofthephones'settingsbymeansof
theprofiles,whichcanbeeasilycreatedbytheuserorsystemadministratorbymeans
oftheguide.

2.1 Incoming Calls
Wheneveracalliscomingfromapublic/GSM/IP/privatenetworkand/orfrominternal
subscribers,yourphonestartsringing.
Receiving Calls
Toreceiveacall,justpickupthehandset.
Ifyour phone is equippedwitha HandsFree button,pushthebutton and start
talking without lifting the handset. Before using the HandsFree function, make
surethatyourphoneisequippedwithamicrophoneandaloudspeaker.
Ifyourphoneisequippedwithaheadset,pushtheHandsFreebuttontoreceive
thecall.IftheHandsFreebuttonisnotusedforcontrollingtheheadset,follow
themanufacturer'sinstructions.
ToreceiveaVoIPcallusingyourphone,followtheabovelistedsteps.Ifyouare
using a software phone (e.g. a SJ–phone), then follow the particular software
controlinstructions.
Rejecting Calls
Ifyoudonotwanttospeaktothecaller,youcanusethecallrejectingservice.The
callerhearsthebusytone.Incasemorestationsthanoneareringing(whenthecallis
routedtothe userandall theuserstations areringing),thecallerhearstheringing
toneuntilyourejectthecallforthelastuserstation.Youcanrejectacallusingthe
ISDN phones, phones and some software phones for VoIP2N®StarPoint
communication,oronanexternalGSMstation.
ForanISDNphone,usetheESCoranotherbuttonforthispurpose.
For a phone, use an Escape–programmed button. If you have2N StarPoint
®
notprogrammedabuttonforthisfunction,pushtheForwardbuttononceorthe
Backbuttontwiceandthenpresstheconfirmationbuttontorejecttheincoming
call.
MostsoftwarephonesusedforVoIPcommunicationhaveaDeclinebutton,which
isalsousedforrejectingcalls.
Ignoring Calls
Youcanalsoignoreanincomingcall,lettingitringuntilanotheruseranswersit(inthe
case of routing to multiple user stations), or the calling party or the communication
systemterminatesit(aftera180sdefaulttimeoutinthelattercase).
Rejecting All Incoming Calls (DnD)
YoucanassigntheDoNotDisturbfunctiontoa phonebuttontoreject2N StarPoint
®
allincomingcalls.Outgoingcallsarenotaffectedbythisfunction.TheLEDnexttothe
buttonindicateswhetherornotthefunctionisenabled.

2.2 Outgoing Calls
Tocallasubscriberinapublic/GSM/IP/privatenetwork,dialthesubscribernumberon
yourphone.
Call Set-Up Options
Liftthehandsetanddialthesubscribernumber.
PresstheHandsFreebuttonanddialthesubscribernumber.
Dial the required number and lift the handset or press the HandsFree button
(usingthisoptionyoucancorrectawronglydiallednumber).
If your phone is equipped with a headset, then all of the three above listed
optionsareavailabletoyou.Mostprobablyyoudialthenumberandthenpress
the HandsFree button to activate the headset. If the HandsFree button is not
usedforcontrollingtheheadset,followthemanufacturer'sinstructions.
If you are using a software phone (e.g. SJ-phone), then follow the relevant
software control instructions. Mostly the number is entered from the numeric
keypad or directly by pressing the software phone's virtual buttons with the
mouse.
Calling Internal Subscriber
Dialthenumberoftheinternal(communicationsystem)subscriberusingoneof
theoptionsdescribedabove.
Fora phone,youcanusetheinternalphonedirectoryfunction2N StarPoint
®
andsearchthenumberaccordingtothesubscribername.
Calling External Subscriber
Dial the number of the external subscriber using one of the options described
above.
To access a public or private network it is mostly necessary to dial a network
accesscodebeforediallingthesubscribernumber,typically'0'.Tomakeacall
over the VoIP dial '9' in most cases. Your service organisation will inform you
whichaccesstypesareavailabletoyou.
Youcanalsouseanyoftheoptionsdescribedbelowtocallaninternal/external
subscriber(Speed Dialling, Hotline, Redial, Log Dialling, Direct Access). To use
someoftheoptionsaskyourserviceorganisationforsettings.
Speed Dialling
Speeddiallingisasimplified,mostlysingle-buttondiallingofa station,2N NetStar
®
userorgroup.Speeddiallingmustbesetbytheadministrator.
Hotline
HotlineisthedestinationthatisautomaticallydialledafterhandsetliftingorHandsFree
activation and dialling timeout expiry. The destination can be another station, user,
group,publicnetworksubscriber,ortheringingtable.

Redial
TheRedialservice(theRbuttononmostphones)enablesyoutoredialthelastcalled
numberregardlessofwhetherornotthecallhasbeensetupsuccessfully.
Withthe phones,thelastcallednumberisthelastsuccessfullyrouted2N StarPoint
®
one(thecallwasansweredorthecalledstationwasalerted).
CertaintypesofanalogueandISDNphoneshavetheirowndatabase
ofmissedandreceivedcalls.Thesecallsaregoverneddirectlybythe
logicofthesephones.
Log Dialling
LogdiallingmeansdiallingthenumbersrecordedintheAOCdatabase.Thelistofcalls
(log) includes three types of calls - Missed, Received and Outgoing. The service is
availablefor:

SoftwareapplicationssuchastheCTIphoneorCRMsystem.
CertaintypesofanalogueandISDNphoneshavetheirowndatabase
ofmissedandreceivedcalls.Thesecallsaregoverneddirectlybythe
logicofthesephones.
Direct Access
Direct access means dialling an external network number by circumventing the LCR
rules.Thiscanbedonebydirectaccesstoabundleoraspecificport.Directaccess
can, for instance, be used for calling private destinations or cross-connections. Most
often,however,itisusedforportaccesstoaportforservicepurposes(linefunction
check). This option must be set by the communication system administrator and,
typically,itusesadoubledigitaccesscode.
Fast Intercom
Do you need to quickly convey information to your colleagues, assistants or
supervisors? The Fast Intercom will call them, inform them of an incoming call and
answerthecallitself.Allyouhavetodoisspeak.Theserviceisonlyavailableon2N®
phones.TosettheIntercombuttonsuse (seetheStarPoint 2N NetStarAssistant
®
manual).2N NetStarAssistant
®
Pushandholdthe Intercom button on your phone. The called2N StarPoint
®
station( )givesashortringandisautomaticallyanswered.You2N StarPoint
®
canstarttalking.ToterminatethecalljustreleasetheIntercombutton.Youcan
havemoreIntercombuttonsforvariousdestinations.
Ifthecalledstationisaphoneotherthan ,thecallringsuntilthe2N StarPoint
®
useranswersit.

Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR)
ThepurposeoftheCallingLineIdentificationRestriction(CLIR)functionistohidethe
caller'sId.Theserviceisactiveforaselectedstationuntildisabled.Theenabledstatus
canbeindicateduponanyhandsetpick-upreplacingthedialtone.
Thisfunctionmustbesupportedbyyourmobileproviderorpublic
telephonenetworkoperator.Otherwise,thecallwillbedisconnected.

Example:Supposeyouneedtohideyouridentification.Pickupthehandsetanddial

The CLIR function is now enabled for all the subsequent outgoing calls from this
station.
IfyouusetheCLIRfunctionfrequentlyandareequippedwitha2N®
keysystemphone,assignthisfunctiontoanyofitsStarPoint
buttons.YouwillbeinformedoftheactivestatusbyashiningLED.

2.3 In-call Functions
Temporary Call Hold
Toputacallonholdtemporarily(whiletalkingtoacolleague,searchingdataonyour
PC,etc.),pushtheFLASHbuttononyourphoneanddonothangup.Thecallisheldby
thecommunicationsystem,thecallerhearsmusicandyoucanarrangeforwhatyou
need. To take the call off hold, push the FLASH button again (see the subsection
below).
You can also use the HOLD button on your phone. In this case, the call hold is
governedbythephone'slogicandyouusuallycannothangup.Toreturnrepressthe
HOLDbutton.
Multiple Call Hold
Do you have one call on hold and need to put your current call on hold too to call
anothersubscriber?Thenputmultiplecallsonhold,switchingthecallslotsusingthe
FLASHbutton.
Bydefault,threecallslotsareavailabletoeachstation.Basically,itmeansthatyou
canmakeuptothreecallsatthesametimeusingonephone.However,thecaseisnot
aconferencecall,buttwocallsonholdandoneactivecall.
For phones,youcanassignthecallslotstothephone2N StarPoint
®
buttonsusingthe application.2N NetStarAssistant
®
Example:Supposeyouarespeakingtoauserandwanttospeaktoanother.Pushthe
FLASHbuttontoputtheactivecallonhold.Yougetintothesecondcallslotandcan
dialanothernumber.Dialthesubscribernumber,thesubscriberanswersthecalland
you can start talking. To return to the first call, push the FLASH button twice. By
pressingthebuttononceyouputthesecondcallonholdandproceedtothethirdcall
slotforfurtherdialling.BypressingFLASHagainyoureturntothefirstcallonhold.
Theremaybemorecallslotsthanoneperstation.Askyour
administratorforsettings.
Turning Off Microphone - MUTE
TheMUTEfunctionthatisprovidedbymostphones.Pushtheappropriatebutton(often
labelledwithacrossedmicrophonesymbolorMUTEsign)toturnoffthemicrophone
andtheoppositepartycannothearyouwhilstyoucanhearthem.

3.1 Call Transfer
Are you talking with a subscriber and do you want to transfer the call to another
subscriber?Thenyoucandosoinoneofthefollowingways.Inallthecasesitdoes
notmatterwhoinitiatedtheoriginalcall(thecallerorthepersoncalled).
Call Transfer with Hang-Up
Push FLASH during the call and dial the subscriber number. The other party hears
music(orapredefinedvoicemessage)whilewaitingforconnection.
Ifyouheartheringingtoneafterdialling,youcanhangup.Thistransfersthecallto
theselectedsubscriberandthecallerhearstheringingtoneinsteadofmusic.
Ifyouhearthebusytoneafterdialling,thecallcannotbetransferredastheselected
subscriber is busy (or the communication system has rejected the call for other
reasons).YoucanreturntothecallerbypressingFLASHonyourphoneandcomplete
thecall.Or,youcantransferthecalltoanothersubscriber,putthecallonholdby
pressingtheHOLDbutton,orparkit(CallParking,chapter3.2).Dial:

Unlessansweredbytheothersubscriberwithinatimeout,thecall
returnstothetransfer-initiatinguserandalertshisorherstation.
Call Transfer without Hang-Up
Push FLASH during the call and dial the subscriber number. The other party hears
music(orapredefinedvoicemessage)whilewaitingforconnection.
Ifyouheartheringingtoneafterdialling,waituntilthecalledsubscriberanswersand
theneitherhanguptotransferthecall,orpushtheFLASHbuttononyourphoneto
returntotheoriginalcall(thesecondcallisthusputonholdandthesubscriberhears
musicoravoicemessage).
Ifyou hear thebusytone after dialling,youcannot transferthecall as theselected
subscriberisbusy.RepresstheFLASHbuttononyourphonetoreturntotheoriginal
subscriberandcompletethecall.Or,transferthecalltoanothersubscriber,pushthe
HOLDbuttontoputthecallonhold,orparkthecall(CallParking,chapter3.2).Dial:

Call Transfer to PSTN
The service is similar to the above mentioned two ones. The difference is that it is
necessarytodialthepublic/privatenetworkaccesscodebeforediallingthesubscriber
number.Youarerecommendedtousethecalltransfermodewithouthang-upforthis
transferoptionsothatyoucankeepcontrolofthecalluntilitisansweredbythecalled
user.Dial:

whereFisFLASH,xisapublic/privatenetworkaccesscodeandnnisthenumberof
thesubscriberyouwanttotransferthecallto.
Return to Transferred Call
ThisisanextendedserviceoftheCallTransferwithoutHang-Upservice.Youcanonly
returntothecallerifnoconnectionwiththedialledsubscriberhasbeensetupandyou
have not hung up. Push the FLASH button (thus terminating the other subscriber's
alerting) for return. When the transferee has already answered the call, the Call
Swappingserviceisused.
Call Swapping
To swap multiple calls associated with your phone, use the FLASH button. Inactive
subscribersalwayshearmusic.

3.2 Call Parking
Callparkingmeanssettingasideacallforaratherlongtimeforlaterunparkingbyany
user.Withacallparked,youcanuseyourstationwithoutlimitationsforbothincoming
andoutgoingcalls.
Call Parking on Central Parking Place
Do you want to park your current call on any of the 10 parking places for later
unparkingbyyouoranyotheruser?Thendialthefollowing:

whereFisFLASHandnisthenumberoftheparkingplacewhereyouwanttoparkthe
call.
Ifthecommunicationsystemignoresyourdialling,youaredeliveredanerrormessage
informingyouthateithertheparkingplaceisfulloryouhaveenteredavalueoutside
the0-9range.Trytoparkyourcallonanotherparkingplaceoranytimelater.
Ifyousucceedinparkingthecall,thecallisterminatedonyoursideandyoucanuse
your phone without limitations. The caller is played music or a predefined voice
message.
If the caller hangs up, the call is released from the parking place and cannot be
recovered.
Ifyoufail to unpark your callwithinatimeout (180s by default), yourphonestarts
ringingtoremindyouofyourparkedcall.
Yourcommunicationsystemadministratormaymodifytheparking
time.
Call Unparking
Tounparkacallparkedbyyouorotherusers,youhavetoknowthenumberofits
parkingplace.Tounparkacalldial:

3.3 Ringing Take-Over
Doyouneedtotakeoveracallfromabusyorabsentcolleaguejustbyliftingyour
handset and dialling a service? Make your administrator set the Ringing Take–Over
service.
Call Take–Over from Own Group
Youtakeoverunansweredcallsfromthegrouptowhichyourstationbelongsaccording
totheirarrivalorder.Youalwaystakeoverthestationthatwasthefirsttoring(FIFO).
Contact your administrator for your group specification and setting modifications as
necessary.

areamemberofthegroup.Youalwaystakeoverthefirstringingcallinthisgroup.To
take over a call you must know the number of the group concerned. Contact your
administratorforthegroupnumbersandsettingmodificationsasnecessary.Dial:

dialling end confirmation. If the dialling is correct, several short tones (or a voice

Conference Call

Todothis,dialtheserviceaccesscodeandtheselectedconferenceparticipants.The
selectedstationswillbecalledbythecommunicationsystemandjoinintheconference
as soon as they answer the call. The conference will continue until the last-but-one
subscriberhangsup.Dial:
*1#S1...Sn#*
where S1 to Sn (n=2,3,..., 32) are the numbers of the stations you want to call
togetherwithinaconferencecall.
Example:Suppose youwant tosetupaconference betweenstations 101,102 and
103fromstation100.Dialtheserviceaccessnumberandthefollowingmessagewillbe
played: "Enter the conference participants separated with an asterisk." Enter the
selected station numbers one-by-one and separate them with an asterisk. After
enteringthelaststation,pressthe#symbol(i.e.101*102*103#).Donothangup.All

the stations start ringing. Having answered the call, the subscribers become
participants to the conference and you, as the initiator, can quit the conference or
activelyparticipateinitasafull-fledgedmember.
Allsuccessfulconnectionsarebilledtothestationthatinitiated

Areyoutalkingwithacolleague,havingputanothercallonhold,andwanttojointhe
threecallstogetherwithinaconference?Noproblem.Justputtheothercallonhold
tooandusetheAddtoConferenceservice.
Example:Supposeyouaretalkingtoacolleagueandhaveputanearliercallonhold
(the held subscriber hears the Music on Hold). To joint all the call together in a
conference,pushFLASHtoputthetwocallsonhold(thesubscribersheartheMusicon
Hold)andgetthetoneagain.Dial*0#.Nowallthethreesubscribersareparticipants
ofaconferencecall.
Add to Conference
Areyouaconferencecallparticipantanddoyouwanttoinviteanothercolleaguefor
advice? Just put the call on hold, call the selected colleague, put the selected
colleague'scallonholdtooandusetheAddtoConferenceservice.
Example:Supposeyouhavesetupaconferencecallandwantcolleague1006totake
partinittoo.PushFLASHtogetthedialtonewhiletheotherparticipantscantalkon.
Dialyourcolleague'snumber,i.e.1006.Thecolleagueanswersthecall.RepressFLASH

The conference room can be used for variable purposes. It helps a duly authorised
subscriber call a conference or subscribers join in the conference progressively. The
conferenceroomisactivewithinacertaintimeintervalandcanbemadeaccessibleto

Call Together Conference Room Subscribers
Do you need to call together selected subscribers to become participants in a

Dial the Call Conference Room service, enter the conference room access code and
press#forconfirmation(e.g. *2#1234#).If youareassignedtheDialothersright,
theotherselectedstationsanddestinationsaredialledsubsequently.
Progressive Subscriber Join-In
Doyouwanttosetupaconferencecallwitharatherhighnumberoftradepartners
without requiring their presence at a given time? Send them the conference room
accesscodeandtheconferencecalltimetoaccesstheconferenceroomprogressively
accordingtotheirtimeavailability.
Example:Supposeyouwanttojoininaconferencecallheldinconferenceroom123.
Liftthehandsetanddial*2#.Wheninvitedso,entertheaccesscode123andpress#
for confirmation. Now you are in the conference room. If you are the first (or last)
conference participant, you are played music. Whenever another subscriber joins in,
