OPERATION
1.
Check
the
productpackage
forthe
rate
setting,
and
recommendedswath
width.
Loosen
rate
controlknob
and
sliderateplate
tothe
proper
setting.
The
pattern
is
controlled
by
loosening
thetwo
knobs
onthe
dischargechute
and
moving
the
chutecloser
or
farther
away
from
the
impeller
(setting
A,B,orC).See
"PATTERN
ADJUSTMENT"
for
details.
2.
Always
fill
the
spreader
onthe
driveway
or
sidewalk-not
onthe
lawn.Makesurescreen
isin
hopper
and
spreader
isinthe
"OFF"position.
3.
Startspreadermovingbeforeopeningport.
Close
beforestopping.Alwayspushspreader,
never
pull.
4.
Hold
handle
sotopof
spreader
is
level.
Tipping
the
spreader
toofarcan
causeuneven
spreading.
5.The
settings
and
swath
widths
onthe
product
label
are
recommendedstartingpoints.
Always
check
the
delivery
rate
and
pattern
ona
small
area
beforetreating
a
largearea.Actualdelivery
rate
can
vary
dueto
weatherconditions,
operating
variables,
and
condition
ofthe
productbeingapplied.

PATTERN
ADJUSTMENT
Normal
spreading
of
materials
requires
no
adjustment
(factory
setting"A")unlessstated
onthe
package.
In
thosecases
where
the
spread
pattern
has
shifted,
the
pattern
canbe
adjustedleft
and
right
by
loosening
thetwo
knobs
on
the
discharge
chute
and
moving
the
chute
closer
or
farther
away
from
the
impeller.Settings
of"A,B,and
C"
are
provided
as
reference.

Two
major
factors
should
be
consideredwhendeterminingcorrectspreadersettings
ofany
product:
1.
The
product
application
rate,
orthe
amount
of
material
applied
per
1.000
squarefeet.
2.The
effectivepatternwidth,
orthe
actualwidth
in
whichmaterial
is
applied.Labelsettings
area
guide
andcanbe
affected
by
numerousfactors.

simple
visual
pattern
test

made
by
operating
the
spreaderover

non-turf
area
and
evaluating
the
pattern.
A
more
accurate
method

Setthe
rate
plate
ata
middle
setting
and
make
3 or4
passes
inthe
same
direction
as
shown.
Pour
the
material
collected
fromeach
pan
into
individual
bottles
ofthe
same
size.
Set
themside
by
side
in
order,
and
visually
inspect
their
volume.
Ifthe
pattern
isnot
centered(example:
volume
in
bottle
#2
left
not
equal
to
bottle
#2
right),
adjust
the
dischargechute
upor
down
as
described
in
"PATTERN
ADJUSTMENT"
section.

Oilthe
impellershaft
bearing
in
hopper,
pivot
points
onthe
shut-offplate
and
the
spring
inthe
housingbehind
the
rate
plate.
4.
Remove
gear
cover
and
wash
gears
thoroughly.
Oil
all
bearing
areas
and
face
of
gear
teeth.Lubricategear
teeth
with
dry
graphite.Re-install
gear
cover.
5.
Gear
meshshould
be
checked
ona
regularbasis
during
high
use
periods.
Clearance
between
the
axle
gear
and
pinion
gear
should
be
minimal
butnot
tight.
If
adjustment
is
necessary,loosen
axle
collar
set
screw
and
hold
gears
together.Slide
axle
collaragainst
the
gear
support
and
tightenaxlecollar
set
screw.Spin
drivewheel.
Gears
should
run
freely
and
smoothly.
6.
Impellersurface
should
be
cleanedperiodically
to
remove
build-up
of
product.Build-up
can
cause
the
spread
pattern
to
change.
7.
Tirepressure
should
be
20-25

CALIBRATION
INSTRUCTIONS
The
CBR
iv
was
factorycalibrated,
however,
calibration
should
be
checkedoccasionally
to
assureoptimum
performance.
1.
Pull
the
on/off
lever
tothe
"OFF"
position.
Set
the
rate
control
plate
to
setting
"B".

slide

rate
plate
until
the
port
is
just
opening.
Loosen
pointer
screw
and
move
pointer
until
it
aligns
with
